Disappointed
- Pros: Installed the drive and it worked great....for a month.
- Cons: It Died. Just flat out stopped reading, became very noisy. Contacted Plextor requesting a replacement in hopes that it would be okay. Their reply is that I need to waste countless and valuable time on the phone with their tech department. Standard operating procedure for them, I understand...though fruitless for me.
- Other Thoughts: I know Lite-On is the same people same drive. I went with the Plextor thinking top of the line for my new build. LOL. When it died I ordered the Lite-On...awesome and working great. Ordered another Lite-On for a PC I just built my son...awesome, working great! Do not waste your money...stay away from Plextor.
Very good
- Pros: Runs extremly well very quiet, installed in windows 7 beta RC drivers in win 7 took care of installation. Neded nothing else
- Cons: The software that came with the unit unusable in win 7 the creator 10 didn't work at all and kept locking up win 7 & the software disc also would not work in win 7
- Other Thoughts: For lightscribe use go to thre lightscribe web page & download their free labeler it works perfectally
- Pros: Plays all DVD movies well. No odd noises or abnormal tray operation. Matches black PC enclosure.
- Cons: Unlike my Plextor CD drive, the LED on this unit does not indicate if there is a disc in the drive. Only when it's busy. Not a deal-breaker, but an obvious sign of cost-cutting from what I've come to trust as the best brand for optical drives.
- Other Thoughts: I regularly watch DVD movies on my PC so I hope this drive lasts longer than the Pioneer, Lite-On, and Plextor (PX-740A) drives I've used in the past.
