4 out of 5 eggsQuick and quiet.

Pros: Fast and quiet at all operating speeds. Has handled everything without any hitches. Door, when ejected, pops right out at you without much delay.

Bundled with OEM version of Nero 12 Essentials.

Cons: Tray feels cheap when out...be careful not to bump into when open. Tray also sounds delicate when opening but so far no issues.

Nero 12 Essentials is OEM version and has limited functionality.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat drive

Pros: Quietest DVD drive I have ever owned.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I bought this to replace a $17.99 drive that I have owned for about 2 years because I was sick of the loud noises that it would make while reading. A good choice.

3 out of 5 eggsWorked great until

Pros: This was a great drive for around 2 years.

Cons: Unfortunately, the door belt broke after 2 years. No apparent cause, just wouldn't open one day and some investigation revealed the cause. I don't think I've ever had this happen, and it may be a fluke for this brand also; or it may be a part that they went a bit TOO cheap on. No way to tell.

This drive was also just a bit harder than most to get the faceplate off. In this case it didn't matter, but if you're planning on painting it, it may be a consideration.

5 out of 5 eggsjust as expected

Pros: I wanted a super quiet DVD burner. It is exactly what I got. Comes with Nero 9 but I'm not going to use it.

Cons: Build in 2010, so in computer terms it's old tech. Not advertised to burn CDR but i haven't tried it yet. That's fine, I already expected that.

Other Thoughts: Works fine, I hope it lasts a long time, I use my drive alot.

2 out of 5 eggsGood while it lasts

Pros: Quiet Drive, Reads anything, Burns quickly

Cons: Does NOT last...
Drive acts like it has a timer built into it for when to die on you

Other Thoughts: I bought two of these from a major chain retail store and put one in each of my two desktops. One desktop I use heavily for burning, while the other has seen almost no disc burning at all. Almost at the exact same time, suddenly neither one will burn a disc (errors every time).
I always burn my discs at the lowest speed, and use name brand disks (mostly Sony DVD-R's). Burn failures started when trying to burn a game onto a dual layer DVD+R (after having burned a whole spindle of the same disks in the past). So I tried it on the system that never burns anything. Error after error no mater what I'm trying to burn and what disc I am using. I have wasted too much money on these drives...
Checked, cannot find a firmware update. Uninstalled Nero, tried using every program out there, even trolled the forums for an answer. Nothing works.
Not exactly sure, but i swear the problems started right after a windows update a while ago.. but cant remember when it started exactly.

4 out of 5 eggsworks fine, quiet, strange fit

Pros: I bought this to replace noisy burner that went into a htpc.
Works just fine. Is quiet!

Cons: The front plate was 148 mm wide, whereas the old one was only 147 mm. I needed to FILE the front plate to get it into the case.

5 out of 5 eggsGearhead!

Pros: Does what it is suppose to do. It also feels to be a higher quality metal than the majority of other drives.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: When my next build comes up, I will definitely buy again.
