unbreakable but not perfect
Pros: (1) The case is made of LDPE (low density polythelene), meaning soft and unbreakable. (2) economic. (3) good workmanship - no manufacturing defect on any of the 5 packs (read 5x20) I bought. (4) once properly closed, the CD does not move in it.
Cons: (1) Hinge will break after 50 times opening all the way (so do not open it all the way when putting in or removing CD - that will make it last longer). Even then, I think they will last longer than the fragile jewel cases. (2) The 2 surfaces of the CD come in contact with the case and the CD freely moves as long as the case is open, so do NOT let it get dusty, or the CD might get scratched.
Other Thoughts: You won't regret buying these. The first impression will be bad, but after you start using it, will find them quite acceptable.

My favorite CD/DVD protector
Pros: They are easy to open and close. It's very easy to insert and remove the disk. The clear material makes it easy to identify the contents. (There are color versions as well.) They are much thinner than jewel cases so they take up less space. The material is tough and will not shatter like a jewel case. They are definitely stronger than paper sleeves!
Cons: I've never had it happen but the cases are flexible so a disk could be broken by bending the case if someone really tried. The case would have to be very distorted for that to happen.
Other Thoughts: The latch mechanism is at the hub of the disk so there is not a lot of surface area to it. They should hold up in the mail better than a jewel case. I first bought these at a local department store. Now I can only find them on line but I think they are worth the time and expense to order by mail.
