Pros: Everything about this Printer is Superb and Flawless!!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat All in ONe

Pros: My wife and I are very pleased with this purchase. She uses it to print pictures and they look great. I use it to print documents and, once again, they look great. I love how the printer automatically turns the paper over when you print on two sides. Also, there's always a little pop-up screen that tells you exactly what the printer is doing at all times. Gone are the days of scratching our heads trying to figure out why nothing is happening after we click the print button.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: We haven't used the scanning and copying functions, yet. Newegg is the best.

5 out of 5 eggsFine Printer

Pros: I like the ink cartridges. They hold a lot more ink than I am used to, so I haven't had a chance to try and refill them yet, but the fact that there are separate containers for liquid ink and ink in a sponge and you CAN SEE THE LIQUID INK LEVEL should make them easy to refill. The printer is bulky, but considering that it fills three functions, I'm ahead on space.

I have not spent any time trying to get this printer to work with my Ubuntu/linux. I look forward to that challenge. It works fine with windows, but I would think that Canon would be interested in supporting some other OS's.

Cons: The fact that I have to raise the shelf in the hutch over the printer so that the scanner cover can open and close freely isn't really a 'con'. It's just life.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat printer

Pros: worked great out of the box. I have had no problems with it performing to my expectations. And I feel that the ink is priced fair.(through NEWEGG.com of cource)

Cons: I have none to mention

Other Thoughts: Other users are complaining about there not being a utillity to check ink levels without opening the printer up to check and I want to say that this is false. go to control panel and find PRINTERS AND FAXES. double click, right click on the printer icon, select properties. Select maintanance tab, click on VIEW PRINTER STATUS at bottom of page. You will be shown a graf telling you how much ink remains.

4 out of 5 eggsOwnage

Pros: It looks great, it prints fast, it scans great, great 4x6 photos. Comes with black, yellow, magenta, cyan, and photo black(used for photos).
Fast install and non-bloat software.

Cons: Sometimes its slow to start up. The copy feature uses the scan bed, which is slower than the MP830 copy feature which sucks the paper through a feeder.

Its kinda bigly.

Tray cart in the front sticks out, but its covered if you have the print tray out.

The preview window looks good, but previewing photos on it is a pain - the quality is low.

The print tray doesn't open automatically like on the MP830

Other Thoughts: Upgrading from an hp 810c, so this is a huge jump for me. I bought this for me and a MP830 for my client. I didn't need fax and wanted a scanner. Overall good buy.

4 out of 5 eggsInitial reaction

Pros: Great print quality compared to other inkjet printers i've used.

The LCD screen tilts, and the information displayed on it is very user-friendly, in my opinion.

There's a tray underneath, much like laser printers have, so people don't have to have the paper hanging out of the back.

Cons: I knew the printer was going to be big, but I wasn't prepared for how big. The behemoth is about the size of your average tower lain on its side.

It took the printer 5 minutes to print out a "head alignment" page (only necessary when the printer gets used for the first time), and about another 5 to install all the software.

It waited about 2 minutes between the time I clicked "Print" and when it actually started to print. Could just be because it was the first print job ever (not including the printer head alignment page)

When you try to use the paper tray (Canon calls it a "cassette") to hold your paper, anything larger than an envelope will make it stick out. I think the tray sticking out looks dorkier than paper sticking out of the back, but that's probably just me.

More of a question or two than a con...It comes with two black cartridges (one's the size of the color cartriges, the other's larger) Why? and are they both necessary?

Other Thoughts: This is all just first impression observations. As i use and abuse the piece of machinery more, opinions could change.
