The Canon Pixma MX700 printer prints near-lab-quality photos on your desktop, scans photographs at 2400 x 4800 resolution, and copies at up to 30 pages per minute! The 4-color ink system prints copies of your photos at up to 4800 x 1200 resolution. Whether you’re printing on letter or legal sized plain paper, envelopes, or photo paper from credit card-sized to 8x10”, you’ll appreciate the sharp text, and brilliant, detailed photos that come from 1,600 precision nozzles carefully placing uniform 2-picoliter ink droplets!
When you need to copy, fax, or scan, the 30-page automatic feeder lets you set it and forget it. The fax will store up to 100 incoming pages in memory at a time, and transmits at 33.6 Kbps, so your fax line doesn’t stay tied up.
Connect your digital camera via USB or PictBridge, and print directly from the camera. Canon’s Easy-PhotoPrint feature will automatically optimize your photos for printing, so you get the best print possible, every time. Your kids’ reports will impress, your scrapbooks will be bold and bright for years to come, and your business presentations will be more polished and professional than ever before!
Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: Prints/Copies/Scans great, low price, solid construction/high quality, nice color LCD, big buttons, good software, seperate ink tanks, built-in networking.
Cons: Short delay sometimes before it starts printing.
Other Thoughts: I love this printer! I got it for $170. I was going to buy an HP because they have a lot of All-in-one printers, but I was not all that happy with my last HP (which recently broke). It had buggy software and would often spit out extra paper or print garbage. The HPs with the same functionality as the MX700 cost at least $100 dollars more and they don't have the nice panel layout and big buttons/nice LCD that the Canon has. Also, the first Canon printer I bought 10 years ago still works so I know they make quality products. The cartridges have really cool looking built-in lights that blink when the cartidge is low on ink. I can't comment on the fax becuase I haven't yet used that feature. The other features (printing/scanning/copying) all work great. The provided scannning software starts automatically when scanning and it easy to use. Text and pictures print out great and the copy quality (color and b&w) is very good also. I'm very happy so far with this purchase.

Great Printer

This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Great colors, fast printing, great scans, seamless ntworking, affordable consumables
Cons: No duplexer (but duplexing on an inkjet is asking for trouble IMHO)
Other Thoughts: Magnificent printer; scanning across the network is surprisingly refined on both my Vista and XP boxes. Also allows mapping of the card reader as a network drive (read/write could be faster, but effective). ADF works well, but scanning over the network can lag a little. Feeds special stock and envelopes from rear tray, and plain paper only from the front tray. And as always, NewEgg delivered on time at a great price.

Pros: Fast Print speeds, separate ink tanks so you only need to replace the color that is empty. It is network ready with built in 10/100 NIC.
Cons: I wish that I had purchased this printer a year ago. Ink tanks could be larger. No USB or Network Cable is included. Not a Con for me as I have plenty of USB & Network cables but may be for others. Canon should indicate that the printer is network ready. They list connectivity as USB & Pic Bridge only.
Other Thoughts: This printer replaces an HP OJ L7680 that I purchased from Newegg exactly 1 year ago. That printer was a problem from day 1. From poorly written software to hardware failures until it just stopped communicating. This printer worked right out of the box. The only thing that I found strange was the way to connect it to a network where you first need to connect the printer to a USB port on a PC then while installing the network drivers, you select the option that it will be used on a network then you need to connect the network cable to the printer then disconnect it from the USB. This only applies to the first install. When installing it on 2 or more PC’s, the USB step is not necessary. Also, download the latest drivers and other software from Canon for this printer and install the drivers first, the rest of the install will be smooth. A Great Printer at a great price. Fast Shipping!

Pixma mx700

This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Similar to MFP830.Low price
Cons: Didn't work with existing software. Not even its own software.
Other Thoughts: I have had a Pixma MFP830 for the past few years and rarely had any problems. So, I know that canon makes a good product. But, there are exceprions to everything and the 700 is the exception.

Decent, little trouble

Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 week to 1 month
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: -Fast, especially compared to my old HP, this thing prints triple the speed of my old one (by old I mean parallel port old =( )
-Everything is all in one
-I like that it sends a message to your computer saying that it's out of paper etc, instead of just blinking
-Free 1 day shipping
Cons: -No USB cable. If you're planning on ordering this, and don't have a male A to male B USB cable, buy one. I ended up realizing this after already receiving printer, and buying it through Newegg ended up being another $10 or something.
-Was a pain to set it up over the network, until I realized I had to enable sharing on the computer it was actually hooked up to. (See other thoughts)
Other Thoughts: When viewing the shared folder of the computer that the printer was hooked up, I saw the "Printer" button, and tried to connect to that. No matter how many solutions I tried, it failed. I blamed it on Win7 x64, but finally gave it a go and checked out that computer. When under the printer properties, turns out you have to enable sharing on the printer (stupid of me, I know)
After that, in the folder you see "Canon MX7" as opposed to "Printer", and all is well.
I'm still trying to figure out how to allow the scanner to send the file over the network.
All in all, I'm happy with it, but I do feel that there should be a USB cable included, but apparently that's how most printers are shipped nowadays.
