4 out of 5 eggsCanon PIXMA iP100 Color Inkjet Printer review

Pros: + Fantastic for travel size
+Uses regular size printer paper., down to 4x6 photo paper
+Good price for a portable printer

Cons: -Power cord is bulky
-Ink cartridges are small

Other Thoughts: It does not come with a USB cable this is not a con for the just wanted to point it out.

This does not have a battery some reviews are calling this negatives but I don't feel that is accurate as that is not only what this product is, but those are in a different price point.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat little printer

Pros: I use this to print service tickets on site. No problem with the drivers and my laptop, the printer rattles around in my truck when not in use. It prints my custom designed forms.

Cons: It would be better if it came with a built-in anti-gravity field so that it wouldn't bounce around my truck.

Other Thoughts: This is a good printer. It won't compete with larger more expensive printers, but as a portable, it's a great buy.

2 out of 5 eggsMixed Feelings

Pros: Good print quality. Small size is great for traveling.

Cons: Noisy. Didn't come with a USB cable.

Other Thoughts: That last part makes me very upset. You'd expect that a new device right out of the box would have everything you needed to get it to work. I'd give this printer 4 stars if the USB cable was in the box. Not this time. Otherwise, I was very happy that even though my new MacBook, (OSX 10.8.4), doesn't have a CD drive, it automatically found and installed drivers for this printer with very little input from me.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat so far!

Pros: Works with Windows 8 64 Bit, works with non-Canon Bluetooth adapters (I'm using the AZIO BTD-V400), simple and quick setup, super print quality.

Cons: Takes awhile to start printing. Battery attachment needs to go on a diet.

Other Thoughts: OK, I have an HP H470 that I bought a couple years ago and couldn't get it to work with Windows 8 64 bit, either by USB or by BT. I tried for weeks (seriously) to get it to work. It refused. All I can figure is that HP's Win 8 drivers are a mess. Anyway, I decided to just move on and ordered this Canon since I wanted a Canon originally anyway (I bought the HP because of a special price deal at the time). Well, the Canon arrived and was up and running via USB within a couple minutes. So then I decided to order a BT attachment, but didn't want to pay $50. So I went out on a limb and got an AZIO BTD-V400 adapter for about $20. It works perfectly and it's so small that you can even use the outside USB port on the printer and it just barely sticks out. I decided to put it inside anyway, but could have left it outside and it would not have been a problem. All in all, I had this printer up and running with the AZIO Bluetooth adapter in just a couple minutes. There was no setup at just worked. And it worked right away with my mobile devices too. My only significant complaint is that the battery is really small, but the cover for it is gigantic when it doesn't need to be.

Anyone want to buy an HP H470? LOL!

5 out of 5 eggsA little workhorse

Pros: Small and reliable.

Cons: The paper tray breaks easily with my laptop slides off the vehicle seat and crashes into it at high speed.

Other Thoughts: I have been keeping one of these on the filthy floor of my work truck for over a year. I use it to print invoices in the field and it never lets me down.
Aftermarket ink cartridges can be bought for cheap on the internet. That is important if you go through a lot of ink.

5 out of 5 eggsSmall portable - a specialty printer

Pros: Small size and it worked right out of the box.
While traveling, I needed a printer to print black and white documents. Newegg delivered it to a field address without problem (bravo, Newegg!).
The connection and operating instructions were quite straight forward and easy to understand. I had this printed attached to my laptop and printing the documents that I needed within minutes.
Size: one of the smallest printers available with the highest reliability ratings.
Color printing: not used or needed in current circumstances.
Price: Miniaturization always costs more when it comes to electronics. You can get more printer for the money with other brands if size isn't important.

Cons: No problems encountered.

Other Thoughts: The ink cartridges look small - probably don't hold much ink - which is to be expected for miniaturization.
Wonder if the the time between uses will let the ink heads dry up? I don't use it that often.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks for me

Pros: The iP100 is compact, stylish, and relatively inexpensive, although the low cost is a function of not including any accessories, as previously mentioned by other owners. Another "Pro" for me is that it uses regular printer paper, which I prefer over the thermal paper used in other compact printers. My primary use is mainly black and white printing on occasional trips away from home. I cannot say how well the printer would work under heavier use or color printing.

Cons: Most of the Cons have already been noted: no accessories- no carrying case, no USB cable required to install the printer driver, no straps for the power cord, overpriced batter pack and Bluetooth adapter, outdated Installation CD.

Other Thoughts: 1. Download and install the printer driver and software directly from the Canon website. Once installed and printing via USB, follow the instructions in the Bluetooth section of the "iP100 series On-screen Manual."
2. I purchased and installed on my PC an AZIO BTD-V201 Bluetooth adapter before installing it it in the iP100, at the appropriate time.
3. When using Bluetooth, the iP100 only printed the first line of Test Page the ejected the rest of the page. The solution was to change the Spool settings: Control Panel > right-mouse click Canon iP100 series (Copy 1) > Printer Properties > Advanced > change Spool print documents... to "Print directly to the printer" > Apply > OK.

Now the printer is working just as well with USB or Bluetooth.

5 out of 5 eggsIncredible mobile professional grade printer

Pros: Incredibly small and lightweight, runs fine on battery power, wireless bluetooth operation is easy to set up and works great with Cirago two USB bluetooth adapters (one on laptop and one on the ip100), print quality in black & white professional correspondence is better than my full size Epson inkjet printers, print speed in black & white is amazing even on battery power.

Cons: None so far, however, my impression is that the mechanism should not be subjected to much bumping or jolting while the unit is in transit.

Other Thoughts: This is an incredible professional grade mobile battery operated wireless printer (at least for black & white.) I have not tried photo printing, and am not concerned with color printing on this mobile printer which I use only for black and white professional correspondence while on the road. For black & white professional correspondence on the road, it has my vote for "best in class."

2 out of 5 eggsI've been pawned!

Pros: NewEgg delivers quick... Got my package in 2 days. Nice print quality for small printer. BT adapter (either mini or full size) can be installed in two different locations, one of which is "hidden" and protected.

Cons: Very expensive portable printer with NO BATTERY... must buy extra from Canon for additional $99!! And it mounts on the back... appears to be ungainly.
No USB cable, but MUST have to install drivers.
software support on enclosed CD does not work. Must go directly to Canon web site to register or get current downloads because the auto installed icons don't link. Obviously an old CD is provided that has not been updated.
No carrying case for printer or wire wrap for power brick... at the price they charge for this little sucker, they could have provided a better accessory package, AND A BATTERY! That's what portable means... mobility requires no cords! It's a good thing CANON doesn't make cell phones. Can you imagine trailing a phone cord every where you went?

Other Thoughts: The advertisements suggests this printer is "Portable" and great for "Mobile" use. It needs a very long extension cord.... And no where in the reviews does anyone report that this "portable" printer does not come with a battery. As a matter of fact, one reviewer reported it did. (Does NOT!)
I had a Canon BJ portable about 15 years ago that came with a battery, so I didn't catch on until I tried to find a non-existant battery charge status indication. It is not made clear that a battery is an extra option until you visit the support site and view available accessories. I don't think assuming a battery would be included in a portable printer is unreasonable.

I have several Canon printers and have liked them up until this fiasco. I may have to place Canon on my black list, along with HP. Stand by for an offer from NewEgg for an open-box return.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat printer

Pros: Amazing shipping.... 24 hours from order to receiving product! Great size, perfect mobile printer. Photo printing on hi quality paper is stunning. Im happy.

Cons: Small ink cartridges but its a tradeoff for being small and portable. Found LD cartridges for less than half the price of Canon though...

Other Thoughts: Ordered the Azio blue tooth dongle recommended by others on here. My computer found it right away and connected. Printer, Bluetooth and tax for less than printer alone price on other sites.
