Pros: Very happy with the photo output with this and DDI Software's Qimage. Text is crisp. The printer seems to be built very well compared to HP models. Wireless networking a huge plus for me because it allows me to get it out of the way. Scanner can do negatives and slides... another nice thing. Unike Epson printers, it has a removable print head.
Cons: I might understand why the user "Strickt", called it flimsy... The paper trays are a bit flimsy, but usuable. Ink costs always hinder these. No faxing on this all in one.
Other Thoughts: After a month and a half with this printer, I can say I am very happy with it. I can't bring myself to give it five stars because of ink costs.

Pros: A bit confused at what dude was trying to say above me...At one point he says this unit is "FLIMSY" and "YOU HAVE TO HANDLE IT LIKE A CARTON OF EGGS" or something to that effect, then he goes on to say its too big and heavy...This thing is anything but FLIMSY!
Bottom line here - Everything, and I mean everything this unit claim to do, it does great. Setting up wireless to 2 or more PC's could not be much easier! On top of all that, it scans negativesand slides, and does a fine job on that also. Tanks are small, but considering this is a 6 tank system, I think it is fine
Cons: This is kind of large for a desktop printer, but really not too bad... Dont really have much bad to say about this unit after coming from years of living with HP PRINTER JUNK, this thing is a dream. I wish it had a bit more easy 1 "type" touch pad for making a qucik copy of something...
Other Thoughts: Nice to have a printer that has the more than one ink tank to produce color prints. Depending on what you are printing, you might run low on a certain color, like CYAN for example and still have plenty of yellow and magenta in those tanks, then you only NEED to REPLACE the CYAN cartridge...Looking around quickly it looks like you can get a replacement tanks for about 12 bucks each for any of the 6, and that was just a quick look...Probably some even cheaper out there....

Pros: Compact Design, Easy Setup, Easy to use, Reliable, Sharp Tones & Colors, Fast printing after first page, Wireless printing.
Excellent image quality, copies photos very well, great scanning capabilities including negative film and slides. Easy to set up and built-in wireless networking. This machine would have been the perfect multifunction if it wasn’t wasting so much ink. I woukd have given 5 eggs if I have review it right after I bought it.
Cons: Slow Print Speed on first page, High Ink Consumption if you replace ink cartridges when the machine recommends.
After the black ink ran out, according to the unit, I was able to continue printing for more than a month. The last time the black ink ran out, again according to the unit, I continue printing and obtained 123 printed pages with text and graphics. The color doesn’t fair better. This machine is a gold mine for Canon if you throw out the ink cartridge when the machine suggests. Just click OK on the machine and continue printing until it actually runs out of ink. Another annoying issue is the delay to start printing the first page; that counteracts the speed of the machine.
Other Thoughts: Remember: Do Not replace ink wne the unit says so, click OK on the machine and keep printing until the ink runs out.

Burns Thru Ink Like There's No Tomorrow

Pros: Great features. Very Durable.
Cons: *Even with low usage and little to no color printing, it burns through all ink cartridges around once a month for me. It burns through ALL COLORS even if you don't use them. *Slow to start up. Sometimes have to wait 3-4 minutes for it to just BEGIN copying or scanning. *Scan management software if very cumbersome to use.
Other Thoughts: I love Canon. I still have my Canon i860 printer and love it. But Canon someone should start a class action lawsuit against them the way this printer (MP980) burns through ink. Do a web search for "canon mp980 ink waste" to see what I mean.

Pros: Great functions but positive reviews were misleading
Cons: Ink heads clean every time the machine is turned on and results in incredible waste of ink for casual users. Better to leave machine on and be sure to print at least once per week. Consider RIHAC or other continuous ink supply system (CISS). Hopefully, Canon will provide download to better manage ink usage - until then, this printer cannot be recommended.
