5 out of 5 eggsGood Product, good company

Pros: VG image quality, outstanding customer service, reasonable toner refill cost, excellent paper handling.

Cons: Wired networking not easily accomplished. I gave up on it and use Windows printer sharing which works fine. But, that means scanning has to be done only to the host machine via USB.

Other Thoughts: I use all features of this machine. I've owned it since Feb. of 2011 and can't recall a single jam. Input auto-feeder works flawlessly with letter size docs. Haven't tried odd sizes. My rating is partly based on the price I paid. Of course this machine can't print color but makes awesome color images via the scanner.

5 out of 5 eggsI love this machine

Pros: Very nice MFC. I don't need color printing and can't stand inkjet. I print online receipts, rebate forms, tax docs, shipping labels (paper), driving directions, etc and this machine works great for me. Auto-duplex is awesome and color scanning to a remote winxp machine works just fine. If you can live without wireless I highly recommend this machine - excellent value.

Cons: No wireless but I can live without it, would only be a convenience.

Other Thoughts: Almost forgot to add that the energy saver feature works great too. Machine wakes up on it's own on print jobs over the net and can put right back to sleep by pressing energy saver button on front panel. Checked with kill-a-watt and uses only 2 watts when in energy saver - sweet. Wakes up quick - can wake up, make a photocopy & put back to sleep in 30 secs to a minute, same for printing.

3 out of 5 eggsHardware Good, Software Bad

Pros: Hardware seems good for the moderate use I normally do. Knowledge that the people who wrote the software & drivers were taken to the ER for laughing fits when the software was approved for customer use.

Cons: Web interface missing field to set time and it also displays the machine as model other than a 4370 as do some of the drivers. The sheet feed does skew sometimes but it is the one I have had yet my 3rd low price machine. Sent support a question and they replied back telling me to do what I stated I already did.

Other Thoughts: Seems some people think if it does not cost a lot it is ok for some of it not to work, not my theory. I expect all of it to work in an acceptable manner but not be able to stand up to heavy use. Also if the snmp is turned off the software setup will not find the device correctly or will not complete the setup. Seems to me this machine is using drivers & software maybe even firmware for some other model and was carelessly kludged to use with this model.

3 out of 5 eggsDecent All in one at an affordable price

Pros: Print speed, print quality, copy speed, copy quality, style, price,

Cons: Network scanning is somewhat awkward. The power cord must stay very still otherwise it will come loose very easily causing the unit to go off. Canon could definitely improve the software.

Other Thoughts: I would have given 5 eggs. The power cord issue sometimes can be annoying. You have to plug it into the unit at a very limited angle and it is very loose.

5 out of 5 eggsBest In Class

Pros: Quick print from sleep mode, 23 PPM, high quality, starter toner included, high quality for price. Scan, copies, faxes (dinosaur tech).

Cons: USB and network cable not included but a RJ45 included (?!?!?).

Other Thoughts: Not much else to say other than it seems Canon > HP Laser printers for the price.

4 out of 5 eggsCan't beat it for the price

Pros: My wife works from home (medical billing) & I purchased this for her home office. I caught it on sale for $149.00 and I am very satisfied, as is she. It prints, copies, scans & faxes. It's not loud and the print quality is very good, prints fast.

Cons: I have noticed that when using the auto feeder, the sheets do not always feed in exactly straight and this results in a slightly crooked image. However, this isn't a $800 - $2000 unit either.

4 out of 5 eggsWish the scans were better

Pros: Reasonable price after rebate. $30 toner from tonerinstock.com. Cool duplex printing but not scanning. It scans and faxes. Flatbed scans are fast. It doesn't need ink to scan like many non-laser units.

Cons: As I was warned the sheet feeder yields crooked scans. The scan interface is quirky and the default settings are not as nice as the Brother MFC240C it replaced. Noisy. Network scanning limited to 300 dpi - use USB scanning for 600 dpi.

Other Thoughts: Not sure how to get higher scan resolution than 600 dpi like the box advertised. Need CD to install driver for shared printing.

All in all, the best value for those looking for a sheet fed scanner and fax machine. With aftermarket tonor it is cheap enough to use as a printer.

5 out of 5 eggsPretty Good

Pros: - Looks nice
- Good Features
- Priced Right
- Can print double sided
- All In One
- Energy Star

Cons: None really for me, it is just what I needed.

Other Thoughts: It does exactly what I want except when I disconnect the printer and plug it back in, sometimes the printer is not recognized. I just need to turn off the printer, turn it back on without the USB plugged in, then plug in the USB and it works.

3 out of 5 eggsNOT complete Duplexing!!

Pros: inexpensive

Cons: i bought this thinking of it actually does everything. mainly duplexing. well it does do duplexing but only prints double sided, NOT COPY double sided. The D480 does it all but it was out of stock. I am just bummed cause i really wanted this feature, but i will work around it. SO BUYER BEWARE!!!

Other Thoughts: newegg needs to have a return policy for these. o wells my mistake.

5 out of 5 eggsoutstanding value

Pros: - high quality product (made in Korea)
- latest firmware version was already installed (no update was necessary even though the manual provides detailed firmware update instructions)
- unbeatable feature set at this price point (purchased on sale for less than 50% of list price!)
- 32 MB internal memory
- sharp printing / copying
- set was a breeze (including wired networking)
- detailed and well organized set up instructions and operating manual
- was up and running in about an hour as a local MFC connected via USB to my desktop
- connecting to my router and installing drivers on three laptops to print/fax over the network took an additional hour and half (mostly to run cabling from my study to the router which is in the family room)
- comes bundled with Presto PageManager

Cons: - no wireless networking (but I already knew that and prefer to connect anyway via wired lan to my wireless router for a more reliable/faster connection)
- network scanning relatively slow and only at half the resolution (but who scans completely remotely on the network anyway?)
- not sure if there is driver support for linux (a quick search on my ubuntu netbook was unsuccesful)

Other Thoughts: This machine can make use of both interfaces (USB and wired lan) simultaneously so I was able to set up the scan function on the local machine over USB for best results and print/fax functions locally plus remotely over the network)

Connecting over network was as simple as running a cat 5 cable from the printer to my router. DHCP on the printer's network board was already 'ON' (default setting) and it acquired an IP address from the router without any fuss.

NewEgg's service was excellent as usual; printer was delivered the following day. Canon's packaging was good and was able to withstand some cavalier handling by UPS!

Just wanted to put my own excellent experience out there as I was initially very concerned by the number of reviews panning the product ... at $130 this machine cant be beat!
