5 out of 5 eggsGreat product

Pros: Easy enough setup.
Good print speed and quality.
Turns off immediately after job is done.
Wakes quickly out of sleep mode.

Cons: Can't think of anything that would cause me to not purchase this one again. Probably a bit noisy while running. Toner could be cheaper.

Other Thoughts: Had to buy this at a national chain when my Sh*** just seemed too antiquated and slow after reliable service for years. Time for an upgrade, gave it away.

One great feature is that once the job is done, it shuts off immediately. No continued running with whirring noisy cooling fans for minutes afterwards.

After buying a new router recently, the printer would sometimes disappear from the HomeGroup (I suspect while in sleep mode). I fixed that by assigning a static ip address in the printer and reserving it in the router. No problems since.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat deal

Pros: This was super easy to set up on our network. Plugged it into my gigaswitch, waited the recommended 2 mins. Ran the install software and found it every time no matter what box/os I tried it from.

For a netbook or some other cd less device, d/ling the software from Canon support was easy.

If you do the custom install you can skip the fax setup and pass on the document management software if you like (I did). The Canon Toolbox is straight and to the point software, and not bloated.

Cons: Smooth sailing so far.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you take note of the footprint. This is a bit bigger than a lot of home printers you might have had.

4 out of 5 eggsA good network MFC

Pros: It works as a networked printer and fax machine at a low price. It has built-in duplex printing feature which is a huge plus. Printing quality is generally good comparing to other laser printers I have. In general it does its job well.

Cons: Setup as a network printer took some work. I could not get its device name to work through DNS still so using static IP address as port number is the way for me now. Scanning through network interface was even harder to setup. Once it is setup it worked ok except that scanning resolution is limited to 300x300 through TCPIP which is acceptable for documents but not for photos.

Other Thoughts: For the price of a dedicated fax machine, it can do fax, printing, copying and scanning on a network, so I think it deserves 4 eggs. If not those network setup problems, I would give it a 5.

5 out of 5 eggsSuper machine!

Pros: *scans, copies, prints, and faxes perfectly
*wakes up from sleep mode almost instantly
*very well made
*very sharp prints
*lots of bells and whistles for the price

Cons: *a learning curve to understand and use all the machine's functions
*the Canon toolbox is very handy. However, sometimes you must push the appropriate button on the printer to make some functions work
*the above really aren't cons but just a tiny heads up.

Other Thoughts: I've always been a HP person when it came to computers and printers but couldn't pass up the MF 4570dn when it was offered at a good price. I couldn't be happier that I made this decision. This is my "go to" printer since I really don't have much use printing in color. Setup was very simple for me. Rather than use the enclosed install disk, I went to Canon's website and downloaded the latest drivers and Canon Toolbox.
The MOST amazing thing of all was my experience with Canon's tech support. For some reason, I didn't have the printer configured correctly to scan. Calling their 800 number I got an honest to goodness American tech rep who spent about 30 minutes with me patiently troubleshooting my problem. It wasn't a problem as much as human error (mine)! Now, I'm a very happy camper.
Through the years, I've been a huge fan of Canon 35mm cameras, then digital cameras (the BEST), and now printers. I highly recommend this all-in-one to anyone needing a dependable, well-built machine!
