1 out of 5 eggsEpson NX415 Printer: Good scanner. Don't buy to print

Pros: My schools use HP and Epson so I figured they where a trusty brand. I picked this up at BM store and was happy with the printing and scanning results..until I ran out of ink

Cons: I've NEVER printed anything in color since I bought this printer. I've ONLY printed sheet music in black and white, draft quality, and greyscale. THAT'S IT! Yet I've had to buy Cyan cuz it ran out first, then the next color cartridge, what gives? This went straight to the pawn shop

Other Thoughts: Straight from EPSON's website:

Can the printer still print if an ink cartridge is expended or not installed?
No. The printer will not operate if any cartridge is expended or removed. It’s best to always have extra cartridges on hand.

What a ripoff!

1 out of 5 eggsCannot Recomend-Please do not waste your money.

Pros: Newegg shipped it fast....
Purcahsed 8/3/2009 from NewEgg, arrived promptly and undamaged.

It still scans.
That's it for the pro's.

Cons: 1) Ink- Goes through ink faster than a 20.00 cheapy.
2) If you run out of say Black ink well forget printing in blue even if it's full.
3) Blue will not be full because even setting in grayscale it uses color ink. I have no idea how this does this. But I found out way to late that there was a class action suit against Epson for this very reason.
4)Ink Repacement cartridges cost more than the printer does.
5)And my biggest issue, I ran out of black was low on all other (4) total in system. Spent over 70.00 in replacement ink and it will not print anything, so I made the terrible mistake of using the head cleaning service which used (I swear) ever last drop ink in 4 new cartridges. I should have ink leaking out the bottom of the machine. Where that ink went is a mystery to me because it never printed a page again.
6) Epson customer service--B.S. If you ever reach a human being there un-educated and offer no help what so ever.

Other Thoughts: I've learned a lesson. I should have done my research better. Mainly I should have priced replacement ink before buying. This Epson needs 4 seperate cartidges were most printers only need 2. You cannot buy all 4 in a single package so you end up spending more than the machine cost. And I guess if you do not replace the ink immedately it will just dry up in the printer and it's no longer a printer just a scanner.

My advice- Do your homework well. Not just in the features of the machines but in the up keep of them.
Cheapest way to print docs. buy a cheapy, when the ink runs out toss it and buy another it's litterally more cost effective.
Other than than this Epson is great scanner!

I will never invest another dollar with Epson again, very disapointed in there Printer and even more so in there customer service.

I've spent a couple of thousand dollars with NewEgg in the past 4 years. I'm not knocking them, I should have bought the extended warranty!!

1 out of 5 eggsVery Disappointed!

Pros: Fair to good print output. Basic print speed fair. Newegg's shipping awesome!!

Cons: Had to send this back under the warranty. A paper misfeed during photo printing apparantly caused the print head to clog. Couldn't clear it with multiple head cleanings. I also own another epson, model 500. Same thing. I won't be buying Epson again!!!

3 out of 5 eggsNot So Awesome

Pros: 3-in-1 is AWESOME
I love having a scanner

Cons: -Goes through ink really quickly
-Cartridges expensive
-draft print setting is completely useless
-if you run out of one ink cartridge the whole thing won't work

Other Thoughts: Because Epson uses a chip system, it's really hard to use refurbished cartridges (what a surprise!), which is not lovely for a grad student like me. It's an OK machine, but takes a while and just isn't nearly as good as the simple Epson I had for 4 years in undergrad

5 out of 5 eggsGreat product

Pros: Product was super easy to setup right out of the box. Copier and scanner are great to have. Scan options included in the software are fantastic; scanner works really well on pictures - I've scanned quite a few old photos and used Picasa from Google to retouch/restore the quality. I've used this to print both color and black and white photos, and the picture quality is great (better than having them printed at the local print shop). I've also used this for regular text printing and various other projects, and have been pleased with everything - quality is great.

Cons: It is kind of loud, and ink is used up pretty quickly when printing color pictures. Saying that though...I've had the printer for about 6 months, and I've printed about 20 photos, and 50ish text/project pages, and I'm just getting down to the bottom of the original ink cartridge.

Other Thoughts: If given the choice would buy it again.

1 out of 5 eggsIt's brand new and I need a new printer

Pros: Nice, compact design - the printer folds up in various places to keep itself contained and keep dust out.
Easy interface - I like Epson GUIs. There's a lot of options, but unless you really want to tinker with all the fancy stuff, it's very easy to set things up to do basic printing tasks if that's all your after.

Cons: This is the worst printer I've ever owned. I bought it because I've used higher-end Epson printers and love them, but right out of the box this thing worked worse than the old HP printer it was replacing.

About the only thing it does well is print grayscale - ask it for color and bye bye ink in your cartridges, hello muddy, smudged, horrible prints/photos. One 4x6 photo used up HALF of ALL of my cartridges (and looked terrible to boot). I literally cannot use my color printer to print in color, which means that now I have to go out and buy another new printer to replace this one, which technically is brand new itself.

It's cheaply built and I don't like printers that make me nervous simply opening a compartment or pulling out a cartridge. Given this, it's probably a bad thing that it abuses itself so much, this is a very "physical" printer that thumps and slams and bangs while it does its thing and might someday literally shake itself to pieces.

Other Thoughts: Cheap printers in general are just not worth the investment, but I do expect even low-end models to be at least capable of printing properly right out of the box. This Epson can't even manage that.

I've worked with my fair share of printers and know they can require coddling to get the best results. This Epson model should not require coddling for simple color prints, though, and in fact all my tweaks failed to produce substantially better results.

5 out of 5 eggsCouldn't be happier

Pros: Great printer. Got it the day before I needed to print out a bunch of resumes and it really saved my life.

Cons: I didn't intend to use any features other then the printer, but now I'm randomly finding things that need copying or scanning, and those features work well too.

Now all my housemates want to use it and I'm worried I'll run out of ink fast.

Other Thoughts: Of course, Epson installs printer software that runs in the background and eats up resources, but it is rather useful and provides you with a lot more information then the standard Windows printing window.

1 out of 5 eggsReturned Mine

Pros: When I think of one, I'll let you know.

Cons: NOT good for professional printing; you know, like for printing out a grocery list.
USB plug is in awkward spot.
Apparently uses too much ink, because in order to get decent print, you have to print on High Photo. Anything less and it's jagged, blurry and light.
Even on High Photo, it isn't any better than most printer's average print. A webpage printer friendly print out showed that a tubular type font in color and about 18 pt font was blurry. Small print in about 6 pt. came out blurry as well.

Other Thoughts: Even at a price point of $50, this is over-priced! Returned it, and am now awaiting an HP.

2 out of 5 eggsgood printer, but expensive inks

Pros: The printer has a sleek appearance. The scanner is very fast, and I love the fact you can make color copies with it too. The all-in-one function with such price was a deal. The glossy photo border-less prints has a very pleasant quality.

Cons: The printer is loud even at the quiet mode. The economic mode makes illegible print outs with very light gray. The moderate capacity ink runs out in 2 weeks less than 100 color prints. It doesn't have an individual place for 4x6 photo paper, therefore, it adds more work when you need to change the size of the paper.
