4 out of 5 eggsEpson Printer NX515

Pros: Great all in one printer. Network capability is great for the low price.

Cons: I had trouble getting it to connect through the wireless interface. After several tries I finally just hard wired it.

1 out of 5 eggsGood printer, major ink issue

Pros: Easy to set-up via wireless, good picture quality.

Cons: The big con is if any of the color tanks run dry, you cannot print anything, even in black and white. I have yet to find a nine pin reset tool for the color cartridges, and rumor is the chip burns out after running low so it can't be reset. Sure you can buy new cartridges but when you're printing important documents on a Sunday night and your cyan color goes out, thats it; the printer won't work until you install another cyan cartridge to print your black and white document. I'm going back to HP printers, at least they don't hold your print jobs hostage until you buy a color tank.

Other Thoughts: At least it was cheap, but when it fails when you need it, it's kind of worthless.

2 out of 5 eggsUnreliable

Pros: Prints great. Very fast.

Cons: Nozzles clog up. You can go through a tremendous amount of ink trying to keep them clean. Often after replacing an ink cartridge, suddenly several cleanings are necessary. If a nozzle clogs up badly enough, you will have to replace the printer. Epson is trying so hard to prevent you from using other ink cartridges, sometimes the printer will not recognize an Epson cartridge. (Then you just spent $25 in vain!)

Other Thoughts: There must be more reliable printers with a cheaper ink system out there.

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad for a general printer

Pros: Prints nice color and black and white on standard (non photo quality) paper. I have yet to print color photos at this point. i will soon try though. Access to the printer on wireless is not to bad for the most part. Linux support in Ubuntu 10.4 is getting better still not perfect. I got the printer running without a hitch, the scanning on wireless not so much yet. All though I would not recommend using a printer as a nas box; fork the dollars and buy a nas box. Data is too important, don't chance it your a fool if you do. Scanning has gone ok in widows.

Cons: In response to other posts. All printer ink exceeds printer price. That's how money is made. Now on to the cons. Black and white printing on epson 5 star paper, not happening. I have made 5 prints and all have a magenta tone to them. It will not allow you to choose black and white in windows when high quality paper is selected (both XP and 7). What the printer is doing is doing is printing CMYK black witch is not a true black. Tech support is like windows tech support, it comes from In dia and other parts out east so expect pour service in this area. If you want someone to read a script to you, call me instead I'm local.

Other Thoughts: I want to give it a 5 but the support has been not that great. Take that away It would get a 4. If you subtract the b/w issue and it would get a 5. Price point for me was about $80, affordable. I get the High quality hardware that I have always expected from Epson. I will continue to buy Epons because they really do print better images than other printers. Remember this is an all-in-one not the Epson Styles Pro 3800. which I have printed on and if you know your stuff; O.M.G. These prints are excellent, with very little issues. Ok after thinking about I gave it a 4. Keep in mind that I rated so as a general printer not a photo printer. as a photo printer I would say 3 eggs.

1 out of 5 eggsYou Get What You Pay For!

Pros: Low price of printer
Good quality print ... while it works

Cons: Makes infernal racket when not operating in "quiet" mode
Ceased working properly after only 4 months
Epson would not honor warranty
Epson customer service is totally unsatisfactory
Epson ink carrtidges are outrageously priced ... one set of 4 cartridges could exceed original purchase price of printer.

Other Thoughts: After about 2 months, I had replaced all the original OEM ink cartridges with Epson-compatible ones. There was no difference in print quality or printer operations using the non-Epson ink ... until a few days ago. When the black cartridge started producing spotty print, I thought .. ah, time for head cleaning! Yeah, right. After running 8 consecutive nozzle checks and exhausting 2 full magenta and yellow ink cartridges in the process, I still did not get any print pattern from the black, magenta, and yellow cartridges, all of which I replaced again. I then started e-mailing Epson tech support, and got nothing but the proverbial run-around. I called the number provided for warranty service. After better than 30 minutes (including wait time and holds) on a toll line, I was told that nothing could be done under the warranty because I was using non-Epson ink. That "verdict" was subsequently
amended to state that I first had to buy a full set of 4 Epson ink cartridges (~$53.70)! STAY AWAY

3 out of 5 eggsAlmost 5 stars

Pros: Nice...but
I bought one and would have bought several more if the Linux support was better.
I really wanted to change our church offices over to this printer but could not because we could not access the SD card under Linux, which would have been very nice.
We could have used it as a low-power NAS.
Epson does not seem to want to support this.

Cons: Poor Linux suppport

Other Thoughts: The members of our church often follow what the tech staff supports for the office, partly because they know that the stuff works and is a good value.
It's a dirty shame that Epson seems to have written off Linux support.
At one time they did a very good job.
We do not allow windoze in any form on the church network because of the constant virus problems.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Printer, Good Company

Pros: Printer is great. Print quality is very good. Easy to set up (except network, see cons). Easy to use. Tech support is great.

Cons: Had to set it up on a static IP, dynamic would work until I restarted my computer the next day after my router assigned a new IP address. The monitor program they bundle it with didn't recognize the printer even after the static IP so I had to turn the monitoring program off as it seemed to interferer with the printing. Not hard to do though, just slightly annoying. That's why the 4 stars and not 5.

Other Thoughts: Had to call tech support because it was printing red lines at top and bottom of pages while trying to print pictures. I had done all the nozzle cleaning ect. but it continued to do so. Called tech support and they were very helpful and told me to re seat the cartridges and it works flawless now. Would be a 5 star if not for the wireless network set up issues. Not a big deal if you know what you're doing but non-tech people would have a problem with it. Tech support was great for the printing issue though. Call them, they're nice people.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat quality and features, high costs

Pros: The NX515 makes great quality prints in both color and black & white. It also has built-in wifi which makes scanning to a laptop or sharing the printer across a work group incredibly easy. The installation and setup was pretty simple, and the cost of the printer itself can be found for like $50 - $100.

Cons: That low cost for the printer gets shadowed pretty quickly by your credit card bill at the end of the month after buying a whole new set of cartridges (at least 50 bucks.) Even the high yield ones don't last that many pages. The printer does an automatic cleaning every 15 minutes or so, which wastes ink even faster. And if you run out of 1 of the 4 colors, you can not print anything!

A printer like this is fine when it is used exclusively for printing family photos or final papers. Try and pick up a Brother laser printer for like 60 bucks or so. It costs about 120x less per page to print on the Brother and use that one for drafts and quick prints, and then use the Epson on special occasions.

Other Thoughts: I'm sick of companies like Epson and Gillette which so obviously make there money off the dispensable parts of the products. If they really cared about there customers, they should stop gouging them, and make high quality long lasting products!

1 out of 5 eggsNever buy EPSON again

Pros: It's a really good-looking printer.

Cons: 1.Unbelievable noisy when printing.
2.Run out of Ink quickly and ink are quite expensive.
3. Extremely picky on ink, even on some EPSON's own ink
(I changed a black Ink cartridge which support NX300/400 series, the nozzle jammed!!!Then I switch to NX515 ink cartridge.NOT MATTER HOW many times I run nozzle cleaning,it just can't print anything black!!!!
4.Can't print or even run nozzle cleaning EVEN IF only one color ink ran out.

Other Thoughts: I have no idea why how EPSON became a famous brand,by this garbage.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Printer if you have a CISS

Pros: Prints very fast!
Looks nice.
Wireless is easy to use
Accepts a Continuous Ink Supply System.
Print quality is acceptable for personal use.
Scans quickly in automatic mode.

Cons: Noisy and can move a wobbly surface.
Standard ink cartridges would make it expensive.
Doesn't come with CISS installed.
Slow to start, it does a lot of checks once you turn it on.
Crops a bit too much in automatic scan mode.

Other Thoughts: I had an Epson CX6000 and bought a continuous ink supply system (CISS) for it. Unfortunately that printer hadn't been used in 2 years due to having to buy all the colors to make it work.
So I decided to upgrade to this newer version that includes Wireless and a tilting screen. Definitely a worthwhile upgrade. I had to rearrange the ink cartridges of the CISS system, and cut a plastic bar inside to allow more freedom of movement of the ink tubes. Now I can print all I want without having to change ink cartridges. I just refill the ink tanks of the CISS when they run low. The printer is extremely fast, but it will have its short moments of noise. It also takes a while to start. But for the price, pair it up with a CISS system and you can print from various computers wirelessly for cheap.

1 out of 5 eggsUses a LOT of INK ! ! !

Pros: Printer inexpensive, but you will pay a LOT for the INK ! ! !

Good print quality (B&W and Color).

Cons: This was the business model of the Gillette Company (razor blades, etc.) They used to give away the razor for next to nothing, but charged a LOT for the replacement blades (which were designed to get dull very fast).

Epson apparently uses the same model. If you could get the Epson INK at typical prices, then this printer would be a great deal ! However, the Epson INK costs SO MUCH and this printer drinks it up like water, so the the "TOTAL COST OF OWNERSHIP" of this printer makes a VERY BAD DEAL ! ! !

Other Thoughts: I stopped using this printer due to its using SO MUCH INK ! I will probably give it away for FREE to someone I DISLIKE very much . . .

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: -It prints things
-It was cheap

Cons: -The drivers installs a lot of bloatware
-Every time I try and print after not using it for awhile it goes through a cleaning process for a good 5 minutes and is really annoying.
-The ink runs out insanely fast, I feel like I've printed less than 40 pages of full text and the black is completely out and the color is at half?
-If one color is gone it wont let you print in a different color until you replace the color that is used up

Other Thoughts: You get what you pay for, 40$. Oh well

Pros: Very fast B&W prints.

4 out of 5 eggsNice printer - Feel like I stole it when it was on sale.

Pros: Went from a Canon Pixma to this. Much smaller footprint on my desk, and this printer is fast! My Pixma seemed to take 5 minutes warming up before it would even start printing. I like the separate color ink cartridges.

Cons: Had trouble with the installation disc on Windows 7 Home 64 bit. My advice is to go directly to the company website and download their latest software and use the CD-ROM as a coaster or frisbee.

Other Thoughts: The only reason I bought this was because it was wireless and it was on sale. I am definitely not disappointed with this purchase!

Pros: Great looking compact printer. It ranks by CNET as the fastest printer in its class. I also got it for $70 here at newegg so I cant complain.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: You cant go wrong with this printer. I tried to research all the wireless printer $100-$150 budget and this one came on top. Canon, HP, Lexmark, Brother are ok brands but if you compare all their wireless model $100-$150 range to the NX515 you will see the difference.

3 out of 5 eggsFast, but inefficient

Pros: Pros are pretty much what it is known for (check out reviews on CNet). It is very fast; don't stand in front of it while it is churning out paper if your tray is not set up, the paper may actually shoot out at you. It is prints at a good quality, especially considering the aforementioned speed. Color is nice and sharp. Scanner works fast and really well. Wi-Fi is especially nice, and the connection, once established, is really stable. Ink cartridges are very easy to replace, and fairly cheap too. Accepts used paper pretty well, I like to print on the other side of old documents to reuse paper. Software is very clean, not a lot of "cruftware" (i.e. unnecessary nonsense). Menu system is really smooth, the LCD is very helpful when navigating features/setup, and the system gives you a lot of options (complicated for some, but I like the flexibility.) If it weren't for the ink issue (see cons, below), this printer would get at least 4 stars. On another note, tech support is not very helpful

Cons: My goodness this thing blasts through ink cartridges. I don't print too much (just for school, only black I have barely broached a 2nd 500-page ream of paper) yet I have gone through several of Epson's "High-Capacity Black Ink Cartridges." CNet claimed, if memory serves, 3.1 cents/page avg print cost, and that this number was about average for printers these days. Epson's tech support claims that each of their high-cap cartridges should produce about 400 pages worth of printing. I don't know where they dug this figure out. I keep it on draft mode most of the time to conserve ink, but (as mentioned above) I have gone through *3* high-cap cartridges and the original cartridge it came with. One of the high-cap ones didn't even last 150 pages, it just suddenly ran out after I came back from a month's vacation. Tech supports explanation: "if you don't use it enough it may dry out." After a month? I'm still on the original color cartridges and it has been 5 months!

Other Thoughts: CONCLUSION: It's a great printer, and since it was so cheap, I would still recommend. But do your homework and check out some (reliable) web reviews before you decide.

Hopefully you will have better luck with the ink cartridges, which are fairly cheap (less than $20 for the high-cap cartridges, which I would not bother with if I were you). But my understanding is this is how printer companies get you: sell you a good printer at close to its cost to build, and then make the money back push their ink on you.

4 out of 5 eggs3 Eggs

Pros: Wireless is fantastic on both Win and Mac OS. Prints blazingly fast. Small form factor. 4 individual ink tanks. Under $100.

Cons: Drinks ink cartridges for breakfast. Small ink cartridges. Even hi-capacity black doesn't seem to last that long. Fingerprint marks and visible dust accumulation on piano black finish.

Other Thoughts: The new nx printers have a new computer chip on their OEM ink cartridges so be wary about buying cheap, aftermarket replacement cartridges. They may not work. Print quality is okay; would give 5 eggs if it didn't eat through so much ink.

5 out of 5 eggsGood printer.....Great Price!!

Pros: The price. I recently purchased this printer on sale for 69.99. Set-up on my wired network was fast and easy. I printed the test page 30 minutes after unpacking the printer. The print quality is excellent, and scanning a document is as simple as clicking one icon on my desk top.

Cons: None to date. So far I got what I paid for.

Other Thoughts: Good documentation, easy network set-up. After using this printer, I would buy it again at regular price.

5 out of 5 eggsWow, big upgrade!

Pros: Fast. Wi-Fi and Ethernet enabled. Fast. Easy setup, easy Wifif connectivity. Did I mention fast? Individual ink cartridges for each color. Nicely sized screen, built in memory card reader. Great Newegg price and free shipping.

Cons: Wasn't free?

Other Thoughts: With multiple computers in the home, having one on just so my several year old HP AIO was accessible to everyone was getting old. Much like the HP itself, which was old enough to just have basic support under Windows 7. This printer replaced two (the other also an Epson.) The wireless setup on the printer itself was very simple - it took longer to install the drivers on a single machine than it did to get the printer working. And printing - quiet for an inkjet, and much, much faster.
I nearly picked up a refurb from Epson directly at about 1/3 of MSRP, but seeing Newegg's price (and free shipping,) getting it new from here was a no-brainer.
I run my printers a lot, and for a long time. I'm already impressed, and see this one staying in the family for many years to come.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat investment!

Pros: I got it for a very, very good price from Newegg. I love the packaging. It's very colorful. :D

Wi-fi is awesome. It will let you print from any computer wirelessly and it is very easy to set up. I love the LCD, even if it isn't very high quality. It is very easy to read. The navigation on the printer is also very intuitive and nothing lags.

It uses 4 ink cartridges, so you can only pick one which you have to replace when it's low on ink.

Superb build quality for the most part (read cons below)

Cons: The plastic in some places looks very cheap, but the good thing about this is that it's inside where you won't see it much unless you change your ink every day.

The scanner thing on top attracts fingerprints. It isn't that bad though.

Other Thoughts: It is bigger than I thought it would be. Overall, a GREAT investment. The Epson software was about a 60 MB download from the Epson website (throw that CD away!) and it installed in a minute. Works without a hitch on Windows 7 64-bit.

This printer DOES NOT come with a USB cable; however, you will most likely use it through Wi-fi or with the Ethernet jack in the back.

1 out of 5 eggsMoney pit

Pros: Easy wireless setup, very crisp printing.

Cons: If you don't print very often, the printer will clean itself every time you do print, which wastes a tremendous amount of ink. I've printed only a few color documents in four months, and the color cartridges are completely gone. And if even one cartridge is empty, you can't print anything, even if you don't need that color. Sorry, but I'm not going to spend forty bucks every four months on color cartridges that I don't even use just so I can keep printing papers for school. If you only need to print things occasionally, stay away from Epson.

1 out of 5 eggsNEVER BUY EPSON!

Pros: The prints look good

Cons: Ink runs out fast (and dries up. Even if you don't print much do not be surprised when you run out)

Ink is VERY expensive

WILL NOT PRINT if even a SINGLE cartridge is out. What a scam!

Other Thoughts: Epson makes their printers so they will not print if even a single cartridge runs out (which will not take long). You can overspend for a single cartridge, or get the 3 pack (or 4 if getting black) and waste the remaining ink left in the other cartridges. This forced marketing scam really infuriates me as a consumer. I will never again buy Epson and I suggest you do not either.

If you want a quality printer that would hold up forever buy an HP. They are real work horses when it comes to personal printers/all-in ones. If you want to throw your money away, buy Epson.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks wirelessly with my Mac

Pros: Works with Snow Leopard, wirelessly.
It's fast.

Cons: None for me

Other Thoughts: I set it up to work wirelessly and printed from a Mac running Snow Leopard [10.6.2] and a Windows XP SP3 computer. It scanned to both too. Both computers are wired to a router via Ethernet cable, but the printer/scanner works wirelessly with them since my router is wireless. I have not tried it with Vista or Win 7 yet, but it should not be a problem, as per the Epson web site.

4 out of 5 eggsAMAZING

Pros: AWSOME PRINTING!!! Great Price! Incredable scanning

Cons: You have to buy the project templates in the software... Doesn't matter to much Because I have Microsoft Office Publisher 2007.

Other Thoughts: In the instructions it says to go to the help and support site fo the software compatability with windows 7... I installed the software without going to the site and it worked fine.

3 out of 5 eggsFast but...

Pros: Fast printing, excellent print quality, many features, easy wireless setup.

Cons: Wireless printing and scanning iffy. The moon and sun have to be aligned for it to print/scan on command. Needs a built in duplexer.

Other Thoughts: Epson needs to work on the software. The software seems to lose track of the printer on wirelss.

Pros: Very easy to setup.

Cons: None yet and this is after using for 3 months

Other Thoughts: After reading the reviews on this printer and Newegg having it at a price that I couldn't pass up, I have been very pleased.
The printer itself has been great. The print quality has been excellent and I have not ran into any problems with the printer.

2 out of 5 eggsMy last Epson

Pros: Price/performance ratio is very good. Print quality is what I have come to expect from Epson in this price range.

Cons: I never though I would get to the point that I would be disappointed with Epson. I print on a fairly regular basis, but I do travel. However, the printer never goes unused for more than a week, maybe a week and a half at most. This is the fourth Epson printer I have owned, but the third Epson printer in a row that has been rendered useless due to clogged print heads that just can't be cleaned. Even after multiple head cleanings I still have printing gaps. The other thing is that a tremendous amount of ink is used during the cleaning. I have actually used more ink attempting to clean the print heads than actually printing. And, considering that replacing all of the print heads actually costs more than the current price of the printer, it makes more sense to just buy a new printer. That new printer, unfortunately, will not be an Epson.

Other Thoughts: Since my first Epson printer (the wonderful 900n, for it's time anyway) I have learned that Epson's head cleaning process is expensive and, unfortunately, useless. I have always stood behind them, but no longer.

5 out of 5 eggsFast easy and does what its supposed to do

Pros: Awesome printer for the price. Love the wireless, easy to set up, and looks nice. Im a student and its perfect for me and my roommates. Ink is relatively cheap around 13$ a color. I feel like this printer is a keeper upon the 3-4 printers i have gone through in my life that seem to just work for a year or so.

Cons: DOA on the first one I got. No big, stuff happens just returned it and got a new one.

5 out of 5 eggsLove it so far

Pros: Wireless printing from any PCs in the house, Very fast and great looking prints, Non-OEM ink cartridges are readily available to lower total cost of ownership, shipped with full sized ink tanks (some other products ship with starter cartridges that force you to buy ink right away.

Cons: non so far, well, maybe that driver installation takes 15 minutes or so on each PC since it has to establish direct wireless connection with the printer over the network, but its no big deal. No issues so far.

Other Thoughts: Bought to replace an Epson RX600 that was appx 4 years old. This prints WAY faster and takes up less space. Hope it will last another 4 years

Pros: Prints are Very quick, and quality is more than acceptable for office prints and handouts. I have not printed many pictures so I cannot comment on that. Print a text only page and it will be done before you get out of your chair

4 out of 5 eggsNice, but unrefined

Pros: Fast, wireless, color screen, excellent photo printing, surprisingly good scanning for an all-in-one.

Cons: Feels cheap, cumbersome wireless setup (though you only need to do it once), extremely loud even on quiet mode, does not print on transparencies, text quality not quite as good as the competition, default "high speed" mode is as problematic as always, going back to when Epson first created this feature years ago.

Other Thoughts: This is kind of a reluctant four-star review - it's really more of a 3.5. I've been an Epson man all my life, but after my experience comparing this all-in-one (which I use at home), with my equally new HP Officejet 6500 Wireless (which I use at my store), I might just make a switch. The NX515 is as good a photo printer as Epsons always have been, and that's why I've always bought them. The scanner is also really good - to my eyes, it looks better than my dedicated Epson scanner (which is a few years old). But text quality on plain paper is middling, and the high speed mode is basically useless for all but drafts, because the alignment is *always* off. Turning it off cuts the speed down by about 1/2, and turning on "quiet mode" (necessary to preserve any sanity) cuts it by about 1/4 again. So, while still fast, this thing isn't really *that* fast, and the quality of all but photos is not the best. I also question its long-term durability.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat printer for the price

Pros: - Prints very fast, faster than my laser printer at work, print quality is excellent for printers at this price range.
- Uses separate cartridges for each color. No more throwing away all colors to replace just one.
- Network setup was easy. I gave it a dedicated IP via DHCP through my router via the devices mac address, I figured this would stave off any possible future issues.
- Best multifunction device I have ever owned

Cons: - Uses proprietary software for scanning
- Memory resident program for printer management, but many printers are guilty of this

Other Thoughts: - The proprietary scanning software works well, at least on Windows XP 32-bit and Windows 7 32-bit, and is very customizable for scanning quality
- I have yet to test if I can print fine without the memory resident management program, but so far the program hasn't been offensive
- First printer in a long time that I am truly happy with

5 out of 5 eggsWow!!

Pros: Wireless! Like a lot of folks I am converting household to wireless and this printes does it so very well. Operation is extremely fast. Install was a sinch with all the quick start quides and clear directions. My wife bless her non-techno heart, even installed the drivers and such on her own laptop! Inks are clear and bright, although most of this pinting will be black and white. So I will not speak of the picture quality. Front panel card access and ports for usb and such. 3 ways to connect this printer, wireless, usb and through wired network--all very cool and super flexible. If you are thinking about a wireless printer I wouldn't look any further than this one, it is hands down worth every penny.

Cons: I almost took an egg away for this. The Paper supports on infeed are kinda flimsy, What were they thinking, that it only holds paper??? ;-) I would like my paper to not be curled before it gets used. I suppose I will waste some type and say I would prefer a matte black finish, less fingerprints and dust would show. I may fix that myself.

Other Thoughts: Its an Epson. Soo glad I didn't get lured away from this brand by other offers, deals, promises of cheaper inks, etc. I have had 3 Epson printers now and they have all worked flawlessly. The previous one are still operating only at relatives houses after their bugy, junky other brands have quit on them.

Pros: 1) Power consumption, only draws 2 watts on my Kill-A-Watt meter when idle (4 Watts when screen is lit), which I feel is good for any device with an active Wireless connection.
2) USB, Wireless, and Ethernet ports.
3) Easy to set up wireless network. Didn't even need to open the manual.

Cons: 1) Slow copier, copied my sons practice math sheets, and took much longer than my old HP PSC1200 would have.
2) This printer is much larger than the HP PSC1200 I used to have.

Other Thoughts: So far it appears to be an excellent value. Especially with all of the available connection options.

Glad to finally be rid of the printer sharing between Desktop and Laptop.

1 out of 5 eggsNot too good

Pros: The printer is fast. Printing text equated to less than 5 seconds on stock paper. Text was clear and legible.

Cons: 1. Printer is loud. When printing, that thing will wake up the neighbors.

2. Construction of printer is underwhelming. Feels flimsy and plasticky especially the lid to the scanner bed.

3. First one arrived DOA. Had to request for non-refurb. and still think I got a refurb.

4. Takes forever to make setting changes. Initializing ink cartridges took a good 2 minutes or so before it completed.

Other Thoughts: Going from a Canon to an Epson shows how much of a quality disparity there was between the two companies. Canon's equipment felt more solid and I never had an issue with their printers. I had the s750 series for over 5 years and it can still print as good as the Epson. Too bad I needed a cheaper AIO, otherwise I would have gone with one of the MP series from Canon.

4 out of 5 eggsWorth it!

Pros: Wireless Epson vs Wireless Lexmark - Epson is faster, has better detail, better display/controls.
The Epson hasn't died on me yet, unlike the Lexmark - which would sometimes stop printing in the middle of the job (8-12 pages of powerpoint slides or 10+ pages of pdf) but the Epson took it like a champ and finished up 4 different 18+ pp powerpoint and 3 different 14+ pp pdfs without batting an eye, so to speak...

Cons: Not much to say except every time I turn on my laptop it reports that a drive is missing. This drive is actually the memory card slot built into the Epson so if I'm not on my home wireless network or if the Epson if off then it will detect that the drive is missing.
Also the output tray for the printed pages is flimsily designed, feels like you can break it very easily with just the slightest bit of pressure.
The extra software that came with the Epson doesn't have much to offer, the ArcSoft software only has templates to make greetinng cards of calendars, not much else to it. Also everything is separate instead of having all the features in one program - the scanning software is separate.

Other Thoughts: I bought this Epson when it was on sale for $89.99 before tax and got the extra black ink combo for another $8 - after tax that came to be about $104 - well worth the money.

Pros: Very easy to set up. You have to set up the printer 1st before installing the software on your computer. Directions are very easy to understand. I have loaded the software on both my XP and 2 Vista operating systems and there have been no problems with any computers.

Cons: Its is a little noisey when it first starts printing but then wants it printing it is normal sounds.

4 out of 5 eggsso far so good

Pros: Easy network setup (requires disk or downloaded software from Epson to be installed at each PC), easy scan to any PC (see Other Thoughts). So happy to print from 4 different computers to one printer. I had it on our WPA2 network in minutes, installed driver on 4 computers within 15 minutes. Total time, printer and 4 computers under 30 minutes.

Cons: noisy. sounds like paper is being shredded when it starts to grab paper. kinda scary when you are walking past printer (or sitting in same room), and it suddenly starts up and grinds away for a few seconds, as someone in the house hits "print".

Other Thoughts: To scan to a PC, you put a document on the flat glass (no sheet feeder, I didn't think I'd miss it but now I do), press the "scan" button on printer, then go to the computer you want to receive the scan and launch the network scan program. I got this on ShellShocker and it was a great deal. We needed network printing and got it for under a Benjamin. Flat-bed scanning is good for books and magazine scanning, but a sheet feeder is better for scanning in piles of old bills. This has no sheet feeder, it is flat-bed. I use it to scan bills and old photos. Lots of cool scan options, like auto-rotate/align/ flip , auto-color fix, remove scratches/dust, and more. Totally 100% satisfied.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks, but the price is jumpy

Pros: 1. VERY high print quality for an inkjet
2. ink tanks separate from printheads (cheaper ink for high volume printers)
3. network connectivity works perfectly
4. the network setup guide is pretty well written
5. VERY fast printing
6. includes wireless AND wired network jacks
7. if you type in the IP address of the printer in your browser, it will display all of the configuration data and ink levels for the printer in a little web page, pretty nifty for checking the connection before installing software

8. handles multiple connections very well (2 laptops and 2 desktops and it works great with all of them, no conflicts)

Cons: 1. NOT WPA2 COMPLIANT, so it acts like it's connected, and the router will see it, but you have to dial it back to WPA in order to actuall use the printer over the network. This will cause setup problems if you don't address it before installing software.

2. won't make memory card data available over the network (that I can find anyway)

3. paper handler has grabbed mulitple sheets a couple of times

Other Thoughts: This thing dropped TWENTY dollars the day after I bought it. I don't mind. It was worth it anyway.

Does not come with a USB cord or ethernet cord, so order one if you're going to use it that way.

All of the software is labeled NX510 series instead of specifically listing NX515 which can be a bit confusing.

Don't mess with the CD. I think I had some conflicts when I tried to install that way. Just download the network installation package from epson's site and use that. It worked flawlessly with one or two clicks.

4 out of 5 eggsused a few times for simple printing

Pros: this printer fits my needs - use for personal/home office work. I got this without much research other than relying on cnet's review. Turned out much better than I expected. The set up was a breeze and using it only require minimal common sense.

Cons: not sure

Other Thoughts: Do not regret getting this printer. The print quality is pretty good.

2 out of 5 eggsWould be nice... if it would work right

Pros: Good looking, appears functional, prints look good, color is good.

Cons: A pain to get to work wirelessly, though I use two different wireless routers which i'm sure confuses it. Other people may not have this problem. It tells me every time i print "This document failed to print", then fires right up and prints it out no problem. This is after spending two hours on the phone with customer service, but at least it's working and that makes me happy.

Other Thoughts: Don't buy it for the wireless feature. If your setup allows you to use it with a USB, go for it. I'm sure it's a great printer, I just look at it and get a headache.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect all in one!

Pros: Looks, ease of setup, functions, LCD, speed, etc...

Cons: None so far, works like a charm.

Other Thoughts: WiFi connectivity is wonderful! Everyone in the house can use one printer whenever they want, no plugging in anything etc.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Buy

Pros: Bought as a shell shocker for ~$80 with tax. GREAT printer for that price. :)
Prints fast, quality is high on pictures. Install went easy.

Cons: Not really worth complaining about for a printer in this price range, but the plastic holding the paper does feel flimsy. I just don't pull it out. I have only seen big commercial sized printers that have decent plastic trays, so I don't see as it as a bad thing.

Other Thoughts: I haven't used the scanner yet, or had to replace ink. The prices don't seem too bad from what I have seen, and they offer extended ink cartridges.

1 out of 5 eggsGood hardware garbage software

Pros: Great looking hardware. Very easy to connect to my WiFi network using just the screen on the printer and the control pad.

Cons: The drivers / software that come with the printer and the drivers / software from the Epson website are GARBAGE! A two year old could write a better install. I just did a fresh install of Vista 64bit and the install errors out. I can't even use the printer because of the garbage software. I would say to Epson fire every developer you have and get some new help, you need it.

Other Thoughts: If I can't get the drivers installed I will be returning this printer and getting another Brother.

4 out of 5 eggsgreat printer, difficult installation

Pros: it has some nice functions and the drivers work well without any hiccups when installed properly. the printing is quick and easy through the ethernet connection however the wireless was difficult to get setup although that may have just been because the firewall was not turned off when attempting to install the drivers.

Cons: now the drivers were very difficult to install because there is no where in the directions that states you must have the firewall turned off. once you turn off your firewalls and preferably just stop your anti virus program for a short time and then you can install the drivers without a problem. also the drivers do not support windows 7 which is a big no no for epson especially with windows 7 rite arround the corner and i expect them to have fully supported windows 7 drivers by the time of its release or there will be many un happy customers who make the switch to windows 7

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Lightning fast printing, easy to install wirelessly, unbloated software, great quality prints and scans, the list goes on.

Cons: Has occasional hiccups where it will take 30 seconds to begin printing - not a huge deal, though.

Other Thoughts: For the money, I'm extremely impressed. I'm a college student and this printer suits my needs perfectly - scans and prints from any computer on the network, and it can be placed anywhere in the dorm room thanks to the wireless feature.

4 out of 5 eggsMostly great printer, not so wireless

Pros: Beautiful printing.
Nice software.
Great inkjet.

Cons: Software took a long time to install.
Wireless setup is irksome and ultimately did not work- The only status the printer gives is a green light that comes on if the wireless is working. If it doesn't work, you have to start guessing to troubleshoot. I tried for an hour to get this to work with my wireless network and eventually gave up and plugged in the ethernet cable. After that, it was a breeze to set up.

Other Thoughts: Definitely worth the price ($99 on special).

5 out of 5 eggsGreat little all-in-one!

Pros: Seems to conserve ink very well, and every thing is incredibly easy to set up. Comes with memory slots, so you can print without a computer. Wireless feature is great, when I get a laptop and a wireless network it'll be a welcome feature. This is a very fast printer, even in color.

Cons: The CD was easy to use with XP, but when I got a new computer I had some difficulty, but overcame it. Doesn't come with USB cord, but if you're going wireless that shouldn't be a problem.

Other Thoughts: Stylish, and I bought it as a combo deal with a TomTom, so very cheap. I'd recommend this model because it's serving me very well!

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent value printer

Pros: Easy easy easy wireless network install under Vista.

Excellent text and copy quality, good scan quality.

Very fast printing.

Cons: Scanning SW is a bit kludgey.

Other Thoughts: Replaced an old HP AIO with this -- VERY happy with the change.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Printer

Pros: Wifi Printing, Scanning. Full Mac OSX Support. It just works.

Cons: None Yet.

Other Thoughts: I have been through Canon and HP all in ones and they had very spotty performance with OSX. This Epson works great with both Macbook Pros in the house and the wifi connection is stable. The software for OSX provides full functionality where other vendors do a half baked job with Mac Support.

5 out of 5 eggsProblem Free

Pros: No problems connecting to our wireless network, which is not broadcasting the SSID and uses WEP encryption. Scans look good, and prints are very quick.

I've only printed one photo. It looked very good, though the colors were not quite as vibrant as I expected. This could be because I used a photo paper with a satin finish rather than a glossy finish.

Cons: A couple issues with the printer monitor software...
- Configured it to hide some icons in the system tray, but now I can't figure out how to get it back or otherwise access the features it provided.
- It's not terribly clear what role some of the different software components play.

In general, however, the drivers and associated software are much lighter and less obtrusive than other brands' I've used in the past.

3 out of 5 eggsGood and bad

Pros: Easy installation on Windows XP. Everything that I have tried so far (scanning, printing) works as advertised. Price was good, too.

Cons: Horrible installation on OSX. The Epson NX510/NX515 driver (on CD or the update from Epson) just does NOT work over the network, likely will work fine over USB. Managed to finally print with a different driver (Gutenprint 5.2.4, selecting the NX200 driver, NX515 not explicitly supported yet).

Scanner installation is also EXTREMELY tricky. You have to install as the user, but with administrative privileges enabled in the Accounts pane of the System Preferences for this user. Relying on the OSX asking for the admin password when required DOES NOT WORK. Also, if install as the Administrator it will work for the Administrator, but not for the regular users.

The final twist is that even when printing succeeds with the Gutenprint NX200 driver, OSX Printer queue's Network Diagnostics fails to connect with the "server" (presumably the printer). The morale of the story is that there was NO network issue, even while the Network Diagnostics claimed so. It is simply a printer driver issue.

Other Thoughts: Epson should test their OSX drivers for the advertised uses (e.g. network vs. USB) before shipping product. Also, installation should not let to install as regular user.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great - no problems

Pros: * I had no problem connecting this to my non-broadcasted, WPA-AES wireless network.
* I can scan and print over my network without any problem. Installation was a breeze.
* Several wireless security standards are supported (e.g., WEP, WPA, etc.) and it connected instantly after I entered my router info into the printer.

Cons: * To enter your network name and key for the printer to connect wirelessly, you have to use arrow keys on the printer to slowly scroll through the alphabet to find the characters you want to enter; it would be much easier if it had a touchscreen instead. This won't be as much of a problem if you use a simple key and have broadcast enabled on your wireless router - because then everything is automated.
* It would be more convenient if it did automatic dual-sided printing, but I suppose the manual dual-sided printing is sufficient for this low price.
* I wish they had a button to turn off the LCD screen when you are done (without having to turn off the printer,) or allow you to adjust the brightness.

Other Thoughts: * If you download the updated software (with drivers) from the manufacturer's website, then make sure you download the "network" version, because they also have a non-network version available.
* There is a fairly large difference in speed between the quality settings "Text" and "Text & Image". They both go at decent speeds, but it almost seems like there should be another setting in between.

1 out of 5 eggsPiece of Junk

Pros: Looks cool. Comes in black.

Cons: Doesn't scan to computer. Software that comes with it is horrible. The required Epson scan software never worked, it kept crashing non stop. They never helped me by email. When sending something to it to print it never prints it just sits in the queue forever. You can't remove it from the queue either.

I have 13 mini printers in my tray because for some reason it keeps adding more ' Epson Stylus Nx0515 (Network) Copy 13-Copy1

Other Thoughts: Garbage don't waste your money. It should work out of the box it wouldn't accept my WEP code either, no matter what I did. I changed my settings on router to wpa and more. I had to completely disable security on my router to get the printer to connect.

The only thing that worked on the printer was copying from the scanner on top to printing it on the bottom. Extremely disappointed.

Also the plastic that holds the paper is extremely flimsy if you accidentally push on it -- it's going to snap off.

5 out of 5 eggsFast Printer

Pros: 1. Extremely Fast, it almost tears the paper pulling it through so fast.
2. Cheap
3. Wireless networking, even an Ad Hoc mode (wireless without a hub/router)
4. Scans and converts image to PDF, then sends it straight to your "My Pictures" folder, without touching you PC
5. Easy to use display
6. Drivers and printer software have small foot print.
7. Very fast drying smudge proof ink

Cons: 1. Output tray is flimsy
2. LCD display is ok resolution
3. Poor linux support

Other Thoughts: When using with Ubuntu I used the NX400 driver and it prints fine. Not sure how to get the scanner to work with Linux yet. I'm replacing an Epson Stylus Photo R300 tired of having 6 colors to refill and needed a system that can do direct copies. All I need to do now is order a Continuous Ink System for this printer too.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat printer!!!

Pros: I am thrilled with this Epson printer! Previously, I had a printer (another brand) that I just HATED, so I am on cloud nine with this one. Epson's instructions were very user friendly and crystal clear. The installation was flawless on our PC and 2 laptops. Wireless is the way to go! The printing is beautiful; the colors are so vibrant they really "pop." I am loving this Epson NX515 wireless printer!

Cons: Nadda.

Other Thoughts: With so many printers out there, it's difficult to figure out what to buy. My son used Epson printers in art school and said they were the best, so I went with his judgment. He couldn't have been more right!

NewEgg is the best. Great products, great deals, super fast shipping. You've earned a loyal customer in me. Thanks for the super job!

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Value

Pros: Very nice scanning and print quality, and excellent speed. Relatively cheap ink and you can replace one color at a time. Also you can still print black even if you run out of a certain color. Easy to set up on my wifi network. Just plugged it in to power, ran the network setup option, and it found my network right away. No other cables necessary. Downloaded the newest network combo drivers of the site (of course) and I was VERY surprised how little bloat there was to them. I did not have to spend time uninstalling crapware or stopping services from running. I like how I can scan from directly from the control panel on the machine and it sends the scan to any PC I chose. Makes it very easy and fast to scan a lot of images without having to go back and forth to the PC. Also this thing looks very sleek and minimalist, and is all black with a bumpy carbon fiber-like texture on it.

Cons: I really don't have many problems with this printer. I have yet to see how fast it goes through ink, but it is cheap enough I am sure it won't be an issue. The only hiccup I have had so far was getting the scan to PC feature on the printer control panel to detect my computers. Leaving the printer powered on and restarting each PC fixed it, and have not had an issue since.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for the price

Pros: Hooked up to my network easily, software installed quickly (C2D system w/Vista). Great black finish, WiFi, Energy Star rated. Got it for $109 w/$30 off.

Cons: LCD isn't that crisp, but for $100 what can you really expect?

Other Thoughts: Great printer for school work and photos.
