4 out of 5 eggsAwesome printer

Pros: - Great print and photo quality
- Great scanner/scanner options
- amazing scanning resolutions
- does it all

Cons: - Had to replace my first one 2 years down the road, epson has good customer service and gave me a swift prepaid exchange with free ink cartridges for the inconvenience

Other Thoughts: I was go with epson for printer, scanners and projectors, great quality company. The replacement got one egg off, but no hassle since they compensated me.

It is now running for over 4 years

3 out of 5 eggsPoor Quality Product, Excellent Customer Service

Pros: Reasonably fast, great photo print quality, nice features, some of the best customer service I’ve ever experienced.

Cons: The top document feeder is flawed and breaks. I’m now on my third one replaced under warranty. Both times had the exact same problem. The document feeder gets jammed on a piece of paper and that seems to break it. I do very light faxing and copying maybe once a month so it’s not like I’m wearing the thing out. I’ve read plenty of other reviews who have had the exact same problem so this clearly is a design flaw.

Other Thoughts: On the positive side, Epson’s customer service has been excellent. When I called both times they overnighted a replacement with no hassles. But, they seem to keep sending refurbished replacements of the same flawed 810 model which will most likely eventually break. A few days ago I tried scanning some photos and they ended up coming out with lines through them so I’m done with this thing. I just bought a Canon MX882 and I’m not sure if I’ll ever buy another Epson product. While I appreciate the good service, in my opinion, Epson should have replaced this with a more recent model that doesn’t have this flaw. Continuing to send junk doesn’t really give me any confidence in Epson and their products. The warranty is up soon and I have no doubt this one will break soon afterward making it an expensive useless product.

1 out of 5 eggsAbsolute Garbage

Pros: None

Cons: I have had my epson artisan for 2 yrs and it has been nothing but trouble. The first one I had kept performing head cleanings non stop until the ink cartridges were empty. It was still under warranty so epson sent me a new one. This printer worked for a few months and then told me the ink pads were nearing the end of their life. Had it serviced. It printed a few more times then the problem reoccurred. Epson support is terrible and said the warranty would only cover the original printer I had and not the one sent to me.

Other Thoughts: If you do a lot of printing do not buy epson

3 out of 5 eggsAverage

Pros: Easy to set up.
Great print quality.
Wireless & Ethernet.
Scan + Copy works good.
Bluetooth?? I haven't used it yet.

Cons: Sucks up ink like crazy so I needed to install a Continuous Ink System (CIS) to resolve that. It is also mostly plastic.

Other Thoughts: I will need to get an extended warranty with Square Trade. Newegg does not know how to deal with Service Net very well.

2 out of 5 eggsgreat photos but garbage quality

Pros: Excellent photo printing and reasonable fast, small footprint for multifunction device, memory card slot, wireless

Cons: scanner/copy/fax function defective, bad paper feed, flimsy output tray

Other Thoughts: The original unit only worked for three months. Epson sent two replacements and the scanner/copy function either broke immediately or did not work out of the box. I gave up and will throw this thing away as soon as my expensive stash of color ink is done. It never printed PDF's correctly despite multiple driver updates and reinstalls.

Meantime it prints nice photos but that's about all.

5 out of 5 eggsBest printer buy I've ever made

Pros: This product surprised me and amazed me at every moment. I've fallen in love with how well it handles my tasks. As a home user, I couldn't ask for anything more. The CD/DVD printing capability was spot on and was something I did not suspect this printer was capable of when I purchased it. PPM is excellent. Ink usage is something that I'm accustomed to gauging and I believe that this printer outperforms my old HP printer in this regards; I give it high marks for exceeding the performance and capabilities of what I have experienced and what I expected.

Cons: Priced at ~$200 and it fulfilled all my needs (scan, fax, fast print, high quality, and even CD/DVD print) How on earth could I have complaints?
Yes, it does have a large footprint, I guess some people don't expect/like that. It's smaller than most office printers and laserjets.

Other Thoughts: To all the ratings that have complaints on the ink: think about what you're using this for. This printer was designed for Home Use, not some business. If you want miserly ink usage, get a laserjet, or maybe a Kodak, since they advertise that their printers barely use any ink. If this printer broke on you, you probably did something wrong.

To home users that know how to respect their purchases: this printer is amazing and surpassed all my expectations (especially for $200) I recommend this product hands down.
Remember: you wouldn't bang a supercar's door against the wall, so why be rough with your computer's peripherals? This isn't a mil-spec printer designed for extreme environments.

4 out of 5 eggsSo Far, So Good

Pros: Nice photo quality on 4x6 prints (have not done any larger), duplex feature saves on paper use, easy to set up (I'm using a mac with OS X 10.5.8), Wireless is very handy.

Cons: Large footprint, paper tray isn't the easier to load and it feels cheap.

Other Thoughts: I'm a college student whose printer died on the first day of class so on top of dropping $2000 for tuition and $750 for books, I was facing the possibility of having to pay upwards of $250 for a printer to replace my HP multi-function printer (which I had paid $300 for only 3 years ago). I looked in a couple of big box stores and liked this printer for its duplexing capabilities. I looked on Newegg and saw that it was on sale for $149, which is the price I'd pay for a lesser printer in a brick and mortar store.

So far I have been pleased. My only complaints are the footprint of this printer - it's HUGE, like 4 inches wider and deeper than the 3 year-old HP I just got rid of, and the paper tray which feels cheap and is more difficult to load than other printers I've had in the past.

1 out of 5 eggsavoid

Pros: looks nice, has DVD tray, good photo quality

Cons: hangs printing large pdfs over wifi (within 6 meter range from the router!), jams paper quite often, leaks ink and consumes too much of it, auto-feeder doesn't feed paper strait

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Printer

Pros: Easy to set up.
Great print quality.
Wireless & Ethernet.
Scan + Copy works good.
Bluetooth?? I haven't used it yet...
My next printer will be another Artisan 7/8 series.

Cons: Sucks up ink
Install a CIS system to resolve that.

Other Thoughts: Pair this printer with a $75 CISS (continuous Ink Supply System) and you will never have to buy ink for a long time. They are equivalent to 8 cartridges so you save yourself around $500. Quality is about the same as Epsons Claria HD ink. When I got the printer, I already knew I was going to put in the CISS kit. Photo paper from Costco is cheap too.
