4 out of 5 eggsGreat little Printer

Pros: Looks like a Makeup Case and opens up to a neat printer setup. The Print Cartridge is hidden in the back and looks big enough to print many many of photo's. Very Easy Setup. Print's are very clear and true to Camera-Media. We tried both High gloss and Matt Paper and both look awesome. My 8 year Old couldn't bee happier.

Cons: Would make the Picture Transfer from Camera to Printer easier if Picturemate had a built in USB plug.

1 out of 5 eggsProbably used it 5 times in a year

Pros: It worked fairly well for maybe 50 pictures in a year. When I tried to use it after a couple of months of not using it the pictures came out quite wet. The printer was kept in a cool closet and without a chance of mistreatment.

Cons: Not a long lasting product and as I far as I know I have a useless photo printer. Is there a less than one-star rating?

4 out of 5 eggsNeat little package!

Pros: Size and portability. The optional battery (not supplied) will add to its usefulness. Remarkably quick, easy to set up. Works with Ubuntu and most other Linux distros with drivers available from Epson website links. Crisp, clear prints.

Cons: Doesn't seem to recognize any of my USB drives (FAT 16) that have photos on them...? Hmm?

Other Thoughts: So far I have to admit that this is looking to be a great piece of hardware, Time is the ultimate judge and in saying that I will be sure to update my review after a few months of use. I find Epson to be a trustworthy brand and have owned many of their printers in the past that lasted well beyond their expected life span.

5 out of 5 eggsGood, No... Very Good

Pros: Very Small. Fast as lightening. Great Color. My Wife had it running before I came home. That's impressive. I used the custom option and only installed the drivers on my old XP laptop. Worked with MxxxSft OS photo tools.

Cons: Bought the bundle! Ooops. Have to RMA the incompatable paper and print cartridge that was part of the bundle. NewEgg was cool and said sorry about the incorrect bundling.

Other Thoughts: Charm docs say 6.5 ft. usb cable max. Not really something I think of when buying a usb cable. I'm getting by with a shielded 10ft cable. I'll have to keep track of picture quality. So far Excellent from a compact 12.1 megapixel camera from canxn

5 out of 5 eggsIt's a Charm

Pros: Inexpensive, very fast (faster than what it is spec'd at), quiet, quality prints. I did my research and this is the *BEST* photo printer in terms of quality and speed, even when compared to models 5x it's cost. It is the Top Pick at every Tech/Gadget Review Site...and apparently for good reason.

Best thing is that it reads just about any Data Card you can throw at it (and even USB Drives and Thumbsticks). I was genuinely surprised it even could read my daughter's older xD Memory Cards. Best of all you can print directly from your Digital Camera if it is a newer model. Either way, no computer is required to use this printer.

It's actually smaller than I thought (and very lightweight). It's the size of a small lunch-pail. It's bigger than you would want to carry in a backpack, but nice to tote along in your car. It doesn't take up much desk space (no bigger footprint than my daughter's desk-lamp).

Cons: Ships from Canada, so 3 Day Guaranteed Shipping via UPS turns out to be about 5-6 Business Days if you live in the States. Thankfully I ordered plenty early for Christmas.

Just like any printer, Consumables are going to add up to more than the price of the printer fast.

LED Screen is significantly smaller than previous models.

Getting the printer driver installed on Vista was almost nigh-impossible and their Support Website was of no help (save yourself the frustration and make sure your Print Spooler Service in Windows is not Disabled or set to Manual. It must be set to Automatic and running prior to installation otherwise the Epson drivers and software cannot install!).

Likewise, the included Epson software is next to useless, but if you already have Photo-Editing Software it would be a downgrade any way. You really don't need to bother with it.

Battery Pack for portable use is optional and not included in this package.

Other Thoughts: I bought this as a Christmas gift for my 12 year old daughter who was wanting to get into Scrapbooking. She was so happy with it she burned through the Cartridge that came with the Printer in one day! Epson sells the Cartridge with the exact number of photo pages it will work for. The price comes out to about .25 cents per print.

Of course, do not use anything other than photo paper in this printer, otherwise you could damage it! If you need to print something other than photos then pick a different printer!

Epson rates the lifespan of prints from this printer at > 100 years if enclosed, @ 80-90 under glass, @15 years exposed. They are smudge and water-resistant and come out of the printer dry (meaning they are child proof).
