1 out of 5 eggsHunk of Junk, Horrible Customer Service

Pros: Worked During Warranty Period

Cons: 6 Months Later the printer got a paper jam. After I cleared all the paper the cartridge holder would slam to one side of the printer upon power up. Call Customer Support and they said that they could no longer cover the product. Waste of $100 and Epson lost a customer!
Save yourself the headache and get a Brother.

Other Thoughts: Worst Customer Support I've ever had.

1 out of 5 eggsnever again with epson

Pros: cheap

Cons: -- first, would not scan via wireless. Now, it will scan via wireless but will no longer print via wireless.
-- does not support scanning to SD card, even though it has an SD slot.
-- slow and print quality is poor.

Other Thoughts: It's 2011. Building a reliable printer should be a given today. This printer has made me promise to never buy an Epson again.
Its completely unacceptable for any company to put out a product like this. Stay away from Epson, and especially this printer.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent printer, confusing applications

Pros: Good print quality, quick print speeds

Cons: Cost of ink - but what else is new?

Other Thoughts: To the person below that stated you can print multiple page PDF files - yes you can, however you need to be using the latest version of Espon Scan and after launching the application you have to set the mode to something *other* than "Full Auto Mode" in the drop down of the software. Otherwise you don't get the pop up dialog for adding another page...

4 out of 5 eggsDecent Printer

Pros: Works well

Cons: Scanning issues with Win 7 64 bit

Other Thoughts: Printing and copying work well. Scans are good. Initially, I had a small issue with Win 7 recognizing the scanner. Kept getting a W-61 connection error. So I tried installing on 32 bit XP and it worked fine. Downloaded updated 64 bit Win 7 drivers and it finally worked. Overall, its a nice little printer.

3 out of 5 eggsI wish I could get some of my money back

Pros: I got this Printer two days ago and so far it's good.
All in one color printer.
Print quality is good.
Scan quality is great.
Wireless functionality is very useful and setting it up was very easy.
I trust Epson more than any other brands when it comes to printers.

Cons: Price: I feel like I got ripped off because I always prefer Newegg over other places when I'm buying computer hardware. I paid $97.99 while amazone (I had to write it like this because of the text filter :\) has had this same exact model for $59.99 for a while.

No USB cable: Though I knew that before I bought but I mean come on... couldn't they include a $0.50 USB cable!

Other Thoughts: As I said earlier I wish I've bought it from amazone and saved $30. So if you're planning on buying this I suggest you look somewhere else as you might find it much cheaper. Don't get me wrong I love newegg and they have a faster shipping service and much better prices on most things.

4 out of 5 eggsNX420 Ink Compatibility

Pros: We received this printer as a gift. The scan function is awesome for handling documents. I've not used it to scan photos yet. Note that you *can* save multi-page pdfs, you just have to set it to scan to computer and pay attention to the popup window to add another page.

The setup does require the CD and thus you can't go blindly about the install. Remember to change your Wireless password on the device. I didn't change the device properly so I had to use the little screen to update the password.

I like that the cartridges are separate for CMYK. This allows you to change out the one that is needed. However...

Cons: Note that when you go to buy new ink, you'll have to get the 124 or 125 units. The 127 units will fit into the device but won't work. Beware sales people that are clueless and guidebooks that are out-dated.

Other Thoughts: Great printer! A little slow on printing photos, but I can be patient. Integration with Win7 with print dialog is nice for doing 2 up 5x7 or contact sheet.

5 out of 5 eggsEpson, Ink, software

Pros: Good quality print, reasonable ink demands, good driver software if a bit 'clunky' in some ways.

Cons: Like all inkjet printers where the jet is in the printer (not in the cartridge like HP), you better print a full color page at least once per week or risk getting clogged jets which are a 'bugger' to clean (Many posts state that you can't clean them, but that is not true.)

If you have a laser which you use for the bulk of your printing and only use the inkjet for color it is easy to forget and let it sit until it gums up. (my case)

Note that the cartridges that are supplied with a new printer often contain only a fraction of the quantity of ink in the replacement cartridges. They are truly 'starter' cartridges and will not give you a fair picture of how many pages a new set will print.

Other Thoughts: Jeremy needs to reconsider his tech level. The driver does retain settings if used correctly. He is blaming Epson for his lack of knowledge.

Epson generally provides a good quality product with reasonable ink demands.

Reduce in use by: printing in draft mode except for final copy; use the black ink only selection unless you need color; avoid 'Cleaning' the print head if at all possible. This uses an unbelievable amount of ink.

Keep the ink jets clear by using the printer in high quality full color mode at least once per week (more often in dry climates). Print a test page that uses ALL the colors. (make your own by creating a document with a short paragraph repeated in each color)

I have a laser I use for the bulk of my printing and often forget to use/exercise the inkjet printers resulting in a cleaning job at best.

High capacity black cartridges reduce your cost per page.

Note: I have been a support tech and consultant for several decades.

5 out of 5 eggsEpson all the way!

Pros: Just got this up and running, so this is a first impressions review. So far I am very impressed with the fast printing speed. The print quality is also very smooth on the medium (default) setting, I haven't tried any photos yet, which needs nice paper to do it justice. Setup was painless (actually read the manual first guys), it comes bundled with bonus software, and the features are great for the price. Just do an internet search about how an inkjet printer works, and you will see that Epson uses better technology than any other printer manufacturer, period. The printer takes up a nice chunk of desk space due to the built-in scanner but has a smooth, clean look. If I have any issues later on I will make sure to post them.

Cons: Make sure you actually read the manual first; being a typical male I just started hooking everything up but instructions are specific: DO NOT plug in the USB cable until the software/ drivers are installed, otherwise the USB detects it but can't figure out what it is exactly. Does not include a USB cable, and says so right on the box. That's a minor gripe but I think for the money they should include the cable that connects to the computer. Or a wireless USB adapter would work, too :)

Other Thoughts: Take care when moving the printer, grab from the sides on the bottom. It's easy to grab the scanner part on the front which is hinged and opens easily for ink replacement, I was careless and almost dropped it. Software settings do NOT automatically reset to higher quality, as a previous reviewer stated. Whoever thinks the ink refills are expensive should do some checking around. When considering a new printer, I researched the cost of ink first. The refills are small, but only $15 for a single cartridge, plus you only replace the colors you use, so you don't have to throw out a multi-color cartridge that's only half spent to get the color you need. The printer at my office, on the other hand, is a monster that costs hundreds for the toner refill, much more than the printer is worth, and I've heard many offices actually order a whole new printer every time they run out since it comes with a bonus cartridge. How wasteful is that?

5 out of 5 eggsNice Printer

Pros: Overall nice printer. I bought it on black Friday last year and it has been working great since then. Scanner is of good quality and the pictures I have printed out look good. It also allows the computer to access media cards inserted into it.

Cons: No cons I can think of at this time.

Other Thoughts: Ink is expensive, but everyone knows that. I only had to change my ink once so far, and that was in August. I use it mostly for school work and photos, but the ink seems to have lasted a good while. I noticed another comment said that the settings revert to factory default each time he prints; the defaults can be changed in the printer preferences. I have not yet had any problems with changing my preferences and having them stick. Using the default Windows 7 drivers.

1 out of 5 eggspoor buisness practices

Pros: it works.

Cons: epson has a bug in their drivers, if thats what you would call it. anyways the default settings get stuck to the highest quality, if u go in and set them back to normal they will just revert to highest quality again with out you knowledge, if you have no tech know how you will be forced to make epson rich off of your ink money, and that why people complain of ink levels in epson printers running low fast.

Other Thoughts: Epic lose for Epson and their poor business practices, my company or any of my clients will never use an Epson product again, companies who do business like that deserve to go out of business
