1 out of 5 eggsLeaks ink

Pros: All-in-one

Cons: Leaks ink (known issue)
Can't print if even one ink cartridge is out.
Poor print quality
Poor scanner quality

Other Thoughts: This started leaking yellow ink a couple of months ago, after almost two year ownership with light use. This issue is known and has been reported by others. It applies to WP-4540 as well.

2 out of 5 eggsSo much promise - So much Disapointment

Pros: Great image quality, very good thru-put, nice mechanical design for paper handling in copy, scan & print duplexing, very good footprint. Automatic software/firmware updates

Cons: After less than 10 months, the infamous "yellow ink spewing" hit me, making the unit useless.

Other Thoughts: Being on a fixed income, I could no longer afford the cost of replacing the cartridges in my HP MFP color laser, which was nearly the same price as this WP-4530. When I started using it, I was highly impressed and thought I'd found the perfect solution. I now recollect an Epson portable printer I had used for on the road printing of customer service reports, which also had cartridge leaking problems, which at the time I thought had been due to transportation issues, but now believe are an inherent design flaw. I guess I'll have to find a more reliable solution.

1 out of 5 eggswhat a joke

Pros: It worked as expected while it wasn't broken

Cons: Unit suffered complete failure 3 times! that's 3 different printers. First unit broke down and needed to be replaced within 6 months. We're just a family using it for light duty copying and prints.

RMA printer from epson was defective right out of the box. So we were without a printer for about 3 weeks and went through the RMA process over the phone twice.

Third one is broken now. I've owned it for a little over a year so I have no option but to buy another unit which rest assured will not be Epson. I was under the impression that epson knew what they were doing and by 2013 we would have a decent design but this thing is a complete disappointment. I just bought some ink for it too. grrr

Other Thoughts: I guess I should have bought a laser

Pros: It was a GREAT printer/scanner (especially the wireless connectivity, first one I ever had that worked scanning wirelessly). Then...

Cons: The dam yellow ink started spewing EVERYWHERE inside the unit and all over the pages. EPSON takes no responsibility for this design flaw. What a crock, what a waste.

2 out of 5 eggsEpson - Shame on You!!!

Pros: When it works it works well. Love the duplexing of everything.

Cons: Had the yellow ink dump within 6 months; got a "New" replacement. Started to do the same yellow fade out after another 6 months and received a "Referb" so far working well.
Asked for an upgrade since this model has had so many problems and they would not offer one even with me willing to pay the difference. Not good customer service since a friend was able to do this with a Hewlett Packard problem printer.

Other Thoughts: Buy the replacement plan for three years you will need it that's for sure!!!

1 out of 5 eggsYellow Ink / Mystery jams

Pros: Speed, quality prints (when it works and doesn't leak ink), wireless feature, fax works well.

Cons: Hard to think of pro's when the basic function doesn't work, or the unit imagines it has a paper jam. There is a plastic gear that drives the paper intake which fell out... took me a while to figure out that was the issue. Put it back in and it worked for a while. Still reports paper jam off and on, when there is no paper jam. The unit becomes completely non-functional when this happens. Reboots and searching for paper yields no results. Mysteriously a week later it decides there is no paper jam. It will work for a few rounds of printing again and then start hallucinating there is another paper jam. Within 3-4 months of ownership I have had this issue. Yellow Epson brand replacement cartridge leaks everywhere. Interesting to note that has happened to other owners.

Other Thoughts: I don't bother to contact Epson support. Their reputation precedes them.

1 out of 5 eggsYellow Ink Failure

Pros: Bought this printer Spring 2012 for my SOHO and really liked it. The scanning, faxing, copying, printing were all done well at a very agreeable price point.

Cons: After 10 months, I went to print a document and there were thick yellow streaks down the page. I looked inside the unit and saw that it had spewed ink throughout the inside of the unit. EPSON did not like that I had bought the printer new from a particular 3rd party, so they refused to honor their warranty. The printer shows that the yellow cartridge still has ink, but it will not print yellow at all any more. I've gone through several head cleanings and yellow still won't print. This unit is now worthless as a color printer, and EPSON has lost a customer for life.

1 out of 5 eggsInk everywhere for me too!

Pros: Worked fine for a while. Prints fast for ink jet.

Cons: Well, just like the other reviewer there is Ink Everywhere for me too. I got the printer February 2012 and now suddenly it spews yellow and blue ink everywhere on the inside and soaks the printouts. Obviously a serious design flaw, I hope Epson does something for me. Worse yet, I just purchased approx $90+ dollars in new ink.

Other Thoughts: Not only do I share the same problem with the other reviewer here, but there is also a video on youtube with the same problem. Very dissappointed that after all these years making printers Epson comes out with this junk.

2 out of 5 eggsInk Everywhere !

Pros: Really liked this printer at first. Loved the wireless connectivity and the speed of the printer. It has a nice design and looks like a substantial printer, fax, copier, scanner.

Cons: Very large ink cartridges don't seem to last any longer than smaller cartridges from other manufactures like Canon. The biggest issue was a faulty ink mechanism that has discharged yellow ink everywhere. Yellow ink has dripped throughout the machine and onto every print we make. Yellow ink is on our desk and it is a real mess. The yellow ink fault has caused a great deal of undue stress as it has damaged our wood office furniture and several documents.
My hope that after owning the machine for 9 months that we can return it.
Time required to deal with customer service and return this large device.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Print speed is very good on both single and duplex printing. No hesitation from when I hit the print button until printer starts. Document feeder (ADF) works great - doesn't pull 2 pages at a time. Software and setup is intuitive and responsive. The rear paper feeder works GREAT for on-the-fly changing paper to print envelopes or labels. I'm very glad I switched to this Epson WorkForce Pro WP-4530. Have been using it in my home office for over 2 months now.

Cons: Scanning to PDF software doesn't have as many options as my old popular brand printer, but does the job just fine.

Other Thoughts: I use it on a wired network connection and couldn't be happier with this printer.
