4 out of 5 eggsGood all-in-one

Pros: Larger printing (13" x 19" ) & scanning (11" x 17") capabilities.
Fast printing.
Runs on 10.6 (snow leopard) Mac OS.

Cons: Have not managed to get the paper to feed from top tray.
Ink is expensive.
Copying is slow (not able to set it to do fast, low-ink copies)

Other Thoughts: When installing on a Mac computer, you absolutely MUST follow the directions to get the thing to work correctly. It's not a plug-in and good-to-go thing. It takes a while to set up. Once it's operational, it works just fine, overall -- see the cons list above for negative issues. I have it wired into my Mac Pro running 10.6, since I deal with large files that would take too long over wifi. I don't use the fax. The print quality is fine for offices or general graphics. To do really high quality images (photos, fine art), you need a higher-end printer. Same for the scanner.

3 out of 5 eggsmostly OK

Pros: larger format printing and scanning
ink compatible with 3rd party cartridges and refills

Cons: every few months must reconfigure wifi connections
network wired connection without documentation on how to utilize, I've never made use of the wired connection
have yet to get fax working with Comcast fax

Other Thoughts: ink cartridge identification sometimes fails

3 out of 5 eggsSolid Machine with a Few Irritations

Pros: Price: while ours was bought locally for MSRP due to immediate need (our HP 3015's scanner died), it's still a good buy.

There is also the large-format printing, which is great when you need it.

It had a very easy setup process for wireless network printing and scanning. Network fax setup is trickier (below), but having a fully-functional network device (not just printing) is very nice.

The ADF is low-capacity, but it has yet to jam or feed multiple pages after approximately 500 pages of scanning/faxing. Anyone who's had to babysit a wonky auto document feeder knows how awesome that is.

Cons: This machine has never been physically hooked up to a computer. However, when the software was installed and all updated, I discovered that the "fax machine" was installed not as a network device, but as a local device on LPT1. This happened on both WinXP x86 and Win7 x64. This requires removal of the local fax, and the installation of the network fax via the FAX Utility supplied by Epson. This took some time to work out.

There is also the duplexing issue. The 7510 doesn't have a hardware duplexer, but the software doesn't even support manual duplex scanning. I had to install our ancient version of PaperPort to be able to scan both sides of a document and have the pages ordered correctly.

Scanning is pretty slow. At 8.5x11" 300 DPI gray-scale, it scans about 4 PPM over the wireless network. Fax scanning is not noticeably faster, so I don't think the bottleneck is the network.

The printer likes to leave blobs of ink on the paper. This could be a cartridge issue? We'll see...

Other Thoughts: One more small caveat. The fax speed (3s per page) is not realistic. I just faxed 25 pages B&W. It took 10 minutes. I know I've spent a lot of words on faxing, but amazingly enough, some businesses still rely on it heavily.

The cons are not that bad, they're just warnings for anyone looking to buy such a machine. On a budget, this machine is a great buy for a home or small office environment. However, larger offices or anyone who needs fast scanning would be better served with a higher-spec machine.
