5 out of 5 eggsWorth the money

Pros: Very fast. Full complement of toners (full 6000 pages), excellent PDF, Postscript Level 3 hardware, and PCL support in hardware. HP has absolutely the best driver support (constant driver updates), the most support for their network drivers, and the most third-party support for their technology. The inside of this is immaculate, makes it too easy to change toner or work on machine. Upgradeable memory is pretty cheap. Good on-screen menu. you can download color profiles, plus a driver that forces it to use B&W only (great on a network).

Cons: May not have the best of class in color output, but it is pretty good. I wish you could upgrade to duplex some day, but they force you to think about that upfront or else. (See the 3800dn) All you can add is the big paper tray to the bottom of this. Very expensive toners, but they do include a drum in each one.

Other Thoughts: I don't think I can really go wrong buying a LaserJet color like this. Do not think about a printer that won't support Postscript Level 3 in the hardware. Great for UNIX/Mac. Check for a rebate on this. LaserJets known to last 10 years of light use. And still have good resale value.

3 out of 5 eggsNice looking printer

Pros: The best feature of this printer is it's looks. Next best thing is the ease to access and replace the consumables. Nice built-in Ethernet port with built-in web server. You can access everything you need from your browser. Overall the printer is pretty fast. Came with full capacity toner cartridges! Controls are pretty intuitive.

Cons: Very flimsy manual tray. The design of the manual feed is too complex and too many small (fragile) moving parts. For sure will not be able to take abuse and I don't think it would be able to do 65k pages from the manual feed tray. The stardard paper tray is relatively small for a big printer. The output tray needs an extension to hold the paper or it may interfere with the pages comming out. No Printed manual.

Other Thoughts: I have mixed feelins on the HP technical support. It's an OK as long as you don't use the manual feed often.
