5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Strong workhorse. Works great in our office network in wireless mode. Prints fast and effortlessly.

Cons: Ink is a bit on the high side in price, but it is a laser so I guess that is expected - even with that you get a lot of printing per ink purchase.

Other Thoughts: I have it manually configured so I'm not sure how well the auto configure works.

5 out of 5 eggseasy to use and setup

Pros: It is an easy to use and setup up network printer. takes less than a minute to setup on each computer that will hook up to the printer.

Cons: only problem i encountered is AOL firewall will block the setup program and there is no way around it, so i just turned it off to install and then i turned it back on and it printed without a problem

Other Thoughts: excellent machine, small, takes up little space, excellent for small business.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat printer but check wireless specs carefully

Pros: Solid Printer, small, other 1012/1022s of ours have been great.

Cons: Be careful of the "Wireless" designation. It works OK on a single subnet, but it's not for more complex networks. I set it up on our campus's wireless network with no problems, but when I tried to connect from Macintosh computers on my network, I couldn't. It turns out that the wireless connection does NOT do IP printing. It can ONLY connect to Macs via Bonjour/Rendevous. Bonjour can only see other hardware on the local subnet the printer is on. My wired and wireless networks are on different subnets - so when it is operating as a wireless printer, I can't print to it from computers on the wired network. Kind of defeats the purpose for me.

Other Thoughts: I have found no mention of this limitation on HP literature. In fact, the literature touts "TCP/IP". The limitation for Macs (I don't know if it affects Windows) is mentioned in the manual, page 23, the very last note on installation for Macs. Might as well have been in a locked filing cabinet in a bathroom in the basement with a sign on the door reading, "Beware of the Leopard."

4 out of 5 eggsWireless function didn't work

Pros: Printer has a nice small fooprint. The print quality (1200 x 1200 dpi) is great. Newegg delivery time is incredible!

Cons: Printer didn't work in the wireless mode. I spent over 3 hours with HP customer support trying to configure the printr with my Linksys WRT54G router. I have another HP wireless injet model that works fine on my network so we believe this printer is defective.

Other Thoughts: 4 eggs ONLY because printer didn't work wirelessly. HP technical support was very helpful, curtious, and patient. I will send the unit back for a replacement.

5 out of 5 eggsLook Mom: No wires! (Only the Power cord)

Pros: Great pick. I’m wirelessly sharing this printer at my home network thru a Linksys WRT54GS. If planning in getting one of these babies and hook it up to your wireless network, the initial setup requires you to connect it via Ethernet to the router/switch first and then follow the prompts form the installation program. After this you cut loose the Ethernet and, Bam! You’re wireless. I just got tired of having to have my system on so my wife and others could print from the other printer we have. WPA security enabled and the Web-enabled utility is very similar to those of the routers.

Cons: None so far.
