The HP LaserJet P3005 brings the reliability, quality, and economy of monochrome laser printing to your home office. It connects to your computer via high-speed USB 2.0 or parallel port (cables sold separately), and prints up to 35 pages per minute of the sharpest text you’ve ever seen! HP’s Smartprint technology automatically optimizes the print settings, so you always get the best print possible.
The P3005’s 500-sheet paper tray and 100-sheet multi-purpose tray allow you to print on letter, legal, executive, and postcard sized paper, and envelopes, without reloading. The 250-sheet main output tray and 100-sheet rear output tray keep your print jobs neatly stacked until you’re ready to pick them up. The powerful LaserJet P3005 is an efficient and economical solution for users who print lots of text documents!
Cons: Constantly misfeeds at pickup point of paper tray. Has done it since I first plugged it in.
Other Thoughts: HP authorized service center reluctant to even look at printer. Will take to center after tax season crunch is over next week.

Nice Printer

Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Fast, high quality printer. Replacement toner inexpensive and lasts a long time.
Cons: None so far.
Other Thoughts: We now own two of these printers (one is a p3005n), and they both perform marvelously. I'm very happy with the low cost per page. It definitely pays for itself very quickly.

Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: more than 1 year
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Fast printing. No feeder problems. Ran great for the first 2 years until (see CONS)
Cons: Formatter Board failure are very common on this unit. This machine ran great for the first 2 years until this came up. Tried the firmware update and that doesn't fix the problem. Search all you want and it'll always come up with Formatter Board failure.
Other Thoughts: We've used HP printers for 10+ years and this is the first one to bomb on us.

Broke down early on but...

Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Fast and good price.
Cons: None to mention other than early issues...
Other Thoughts: Within the couple months, a paper feed in the back cracked and the printer had to be taken to a local Samsung approved repair shop - under warranty. Since then the item has worked flawlessly, so I will assume this was a freak malfunction of a part. So far so good since then!

these printers are HORRIBLE
Reviewed By: Josh on 3/26/2008
Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: Small, lightweight - easy to throw out the window.
Cons: These are the worst printers ever made by HP. I work on a large network. We didn't purchase these from Newegg, but I wish we did. Our company received 7 of these in one complex and 5 in another complex. Out of the box 7 didn't work (between the two). 4 of them have now been replaced more than once (one has been swapped 3 times). They are NOW out of warranty for us - which means we will have to pay to fix them. UNSATISFACTORY. HP SHOULD RECALL THESE PRINTERS!
Other Thoughts: I USED to love HP products, but these have really let us down. We own 5SI's, 4M's, 2200's, 2300's, 4000's, 4100's, 4200's, 4250's, 4550's, 4600's and several more types. These are by far the WORST printer I have ever worked on or with or around (even compared to the Minolta 9100's). DO NOT BUY THIS - YOU WILL REGRET IT! If you pick one up, watch it not boot, watch it freeze on the memory boot, watch the fuser go out, or just watch it sit there and do nothing - watch your money go down the drain.
