2 out of 5 eggsAnnoying Issue

Pros: Price of printer, duplexing, not too big on the desk.

Cons: Output Bin Flag sticks in upright position! So once the job prints (and most jobs are just one page.) the output bin light flashes indicating it is full! After every job I have to remember to flick down the plastic flag.

This is very annoying!!!

Other Thoughts: What is worse than the con is the fact that I want to do an RMA as well as buy a second printer, But now they are out of stock! less than a week of purchasing this one they are out of stock!
Other Lexmark printers in this price range got bad reviews in comparison to this one.

Manufacturer Response:

With your issue regarding the plastic flag, the media exit assembly (redrive) might be faulty and might need to be replaced. For further details, please feel free to contact us via email at

3 out of 5 eggsExpensive Toner Cartridge

Pros: Prints well.

Cons: The toner cartridge cost more than the printer. The initial cartridge has lasted me about 6 months.

Other Thoughts: So, do I throw out the printer and buy a new one for $99 or buy the toner cartridge for $125.

Manufacturer Response:

The toner that shipped with your printer are not the regular toners being sold for replacement. The rated page yield of the toner that ships with your printer is around 1000 pages while the replacement toner is rated at 3500 pages.

For you to be able to save on you ink investment, try to check out our Smart Supply program. You'll always get 10% off each cartridge purchase and free shipping every time:

4 out of 5 eggsOne year in

Pros: Great home office computer. Fast. Pretty quiet. Duplex. Hasn't jammed or given me any trouble.

Cons: No AirPrint support, and most of the iOS print apps don't support it either. No Ethernet, no wifi.

Other Thoughts: My wife and I use this thing all the time. She's a full-time student and prints daily. It's been one year and we are still using the startup cartridge that came with the unit. A couple of times I've had to take out the cartridge and shake it, but I put it back in and it is good for another month or so.

I plug the until into an AirPort Express via USB, so we can print from any computer on our network—Mac and Windows PCs (Windows needs Bonjour installed).

My only complaint—as stated above—is that we cannot print from iOS devices. AirPrint is not supported at all. There are some iOS apps that can print to this printer if I have their software running on my Mac. I don't want to do that, and I don't know if the software can wake the Mac—probably not. There is one app I tried, called Print n Share for documents & email, that will do an OK job natively, but the formatting is a bit off.

As others have mentioned, the toner runs about 90–100 bucks. Today NewEgg has it for $93; at a big online bookseller it's $88; both with free shipping. I don't know how this compares with other printers.

4 out of 5 eggsHeavy case, fast, great support

Pros: Startup very fast, print quality good, paper handling good, duplex works well. Good OSX support. Amazing customer support.

Cons: Has some trouble with thick envelopes

Other Thoughts: Ran into problem so called customer support. Printer support determined the printer was working so passed me to application support. They determined it was a document setting- totally my fault - then helped me update the firmware.
Sam/Earl - this was the best computer support I've seen anywhere.

3 out of 5 eggsGood But...

Pros: Printer works, had some install problem, but I think it was due to the dongle I have on the PC for my CAD packages. I was able to work around that. It was cheap.

Cons: This come with a print cartridge that requires you to send it back to lexmark for reloading. The problem is when I do that I will be without a printer for a week or two. That is Bad. Most likely when that happens, I will just throw the printer away. Just be aware of it

Other Thoughts: Compared to my Xerox N17 this printer is kind of noisy.

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry to hear you were having issues with the installation. We hope the printer is serving you well.

Regarding your comment about the toner cartridge, we have the return program cartridges sold at a lesser price with customers commitment to return them so we can recycle and properly dispose and not reuse for refilling. I'm not sure what you mean about sending the toner back to us for reloading/refill. We don't have a program that refills empty toners/cartridges. Please feel free to contact us at if you have any questions.

2 out of 5 eggsExpensive toner

Pros: Fast first page print as well as page per minute speed.
Good form factor.

Cons: Breathtaking toner costs. The "3500" page Lexmark OEM cartridges do more along the line of 1500-1700 pages. We have a mix of HP and Brother printers and these E260D Lexmarks doing essentially the same job. We buy 2-3 times as many replacement Lexmark cartridges as we do HP/Brother per printer.
No aftermarket carts available.

Other Thoughts: We have 10-12 of these that were brought in by a VAR. No more for us. Toner costs are just too high. There are many other printers out there that are capable to put up with the high toner costs of these Lexmarks. We will fill in with Brother printers as we need them.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Printer

Pros: Very fast! Regular printing is 2 seconds per page while duplex printing is 5 seconds per page. Small footprint sits just fine on the desk. Noise is perfectly fine. Durably built. Separate toner and photo drum making each replaceable separately. Other printers have the photo drum as part of the toner cartridge. Damage the photo drum and buy a whole new cartridge.

Cons: Toner is a little on the expensive side but if you shop around toner can be found for under $100. Newegg has the toner for just under $90. But to be fair, the toner is rated at 3500 copies @ 5%.

Other Thoughts: All in all a quality printer which is worth what is cost.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Choice

Pros: Great price, super quick printing, quality prints, very quiet. Duplex printing is a nice addition at this price.

Cons: Manual feed would be better if I could insert more than one sheet at a time. I realize that for many applications, one copy would be fine, but I need to, in some cases, put 5-10 sheets in. Other printers allow this, this one does not.

Other Thoughts: Initial thought was that toner was overly expensive, but another reviewer in here (see other reviews) did the math saying it itsn't so, so I'll believe him.
I've tried many monochrome printers over the past 10 years, this is one of my favorites so far.
5 eggs for Newegg for once again not only giving us a great deal, but shipping it ultra-fast.
