Reap the benefits of productivity and let your entire group produce stunning, vibrant color documents with Lexmark's C543dn color laser printer. You'll be pleased with the laser-sharp 1200 x 1200 dpi output with PostScript and PCL emulation producing smooth lines and crisp text and everyone will appreciate the rapid 12-second first page response and 21 page per minute print times. Pantone calibration provides consistent color tones and adjustable color balance lets you adjust colors to your personal preferences. Its low profile, small footprint and low operating noise levels ensure that it'll fit into any environment.
Even if you're printing a rainbow of colors, the C543dn is thinking green – paper-saving duplex printing, instant warm-up fuser, and eco-mode operation all combine to reduce costs and environmental impact. Lexmark's high-capacity toner cartridges and Lifetime Pricing Guarantee mean that your printing costs will remain low now and in the future. The 250-sheet main tray allows you to print on a variety of materials without having to stand over the machine ready to reload the trays during a long print run and focus on productivity instead.
Pros: BLUF: I’m really happy with this printer, although it has some warts.
Excellent, excellent black print quality. Very good color print quality. Completely acceptable color photo quality, although inkjet on premium paper is better. Excellent print speed once it gets going. Duplexer is really handy. Reasonably quiet. Physical footprint is smaller than many other color lasers I have seen. Includes both USB and network (Ethernet 10/100) ports.
All in all, this printer seems like the best overall bargain for print quality, up-front cost and long-term cost.
Cons: Needs a nearby nuclear reactor to power it. No joke: the lights in the room get noticeably dimmer while this thing is printing. Long warm-up time; once it goes on power-saver standby, it takes a couple of minutes before it's ready to print again. Paper handling options are a bit short. No straight-through printing path for stiffer papers. Duplexer works but it seems like printing multiple copies of the same 2-sided document does not – the first copy comes out fine but subsequent copies are not duplexed.
Minor ding: this printer will not accept Lexmark's ultra-high capacity toner cartridges, which would lower the overall cost of using it significantly.
Other Thoughts: Somewhat finicky to set up. There are tons of shipping spacers that have to be removed before use. Fortunately they're all bright red, so it's hard to miss one. You'll need a table or empty desk to use when removing the shipping spacers -- you need access to three different sides of the thing simultaneously. The network setup is somewhat of a pain since it does not default to DHCP. You have to turn on the DHCP using the front panel; afterwards the built-in web setup interface is complete & easy to use.

Pros: This printer has outstanding print quality. It also comes with the high capacity toners cartridges instead of starter models. I compared it against a lot of other printers using the sample pages the printers can product. The Lexmark was far and away the best color quality of them all for pictures.
Cons: I'm being personally picky here, but it's noisy. My home office is usually almost dead silent and I worked to make my computer silent. In "sleep" mode, the printer is dead quiet. But when it is powered up waiting to print, the power supply makes a slight buzzing noise. If there is any noise in the room, I can barely hear it (with music, you can't hear it at all). It also doesn't help that the printer is only about 2' away from me, either.
Other Thoughts: The duplex printing speed is not the fastest, but since I'm using this for home/small business use, I don't need it super speed. It's plenty fast. I do wish it was wireless, but at least it has Ethernet.

Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Quick Printing, good color, great blacks, duplex works well
Cons: Needs more memory, Sent some 10 meg pixel pictures to the printer at the 1200 DPI setting and the printer ran out of memory. No issues with printing same pictures at 600 DPI.
