5 out of 5 eggsGreat Printer

Pros: Great printer and CHEAP ink. Got this as a network printer with 6 Windows 7 computers printing to it. Only glitch was scanning docs into a PDF but, a driver update solved the problem. I have been using this printer for the last 9 months with no problems and I will be purchasing another for my office soon.

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: Signed up for Lexmark Rewards ink program and for every 5 cartriges you buy/ send back you get one free. Only costs $40 for all cartriges and they last for 600 pages. Best ink prices around.

Manufacturer Response:

We're glad to hear that you're taking advantage of our Lexmark Rewards Program - great way to save ink and stretch your ink investment!

Here are other ways to save on ink:
- The Lexmark Pinnacle Pro901 and the Platinum Pro905 have the world’s lowest black ink cost. The 105XL cartridge deliver black pages at a penny a page and prints 500 or more pages. That's the lowest in the inkjet industry and it's even competitive with most laser printers.

- Get 10% off each cartridge purchase and free shipping every time. Through the Smart-Supply replenish system (Applies to US customers with 2009 products: S300, S400, S500, S600, Pro200, Pro700, Pro800 & Pro900 Series), you'll always have the supplies you need, when you need them. No more trips to the store when you're out of ink. For more info, please visit the Lexmark website at

3 out of 5 eggsSupports Linux

Pros: According to an April 02, 2010 review at titled "Lexmark's Linux Secret", Lexmark supplies Linux drivers and a firmware update utility. They support Ubuntu, Fedora, and OpenSUSE.

Cons: They didn't the scanner working with SANE but the scanner can be operated from the printer directly and the image (JPEG or PDF) can be sent via email. Drivers are 32-bit but work with 64-bit systems. 64-bit drivers will be available with 2010 models.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Love the feature set and price point....perfect for home office

Cons: Unfortunately too good to be true on feature set. Printer frequently hangs and requires complete power cycle. When printer is in power save no computer will be able to print over ethernet or wireless unless you manually press power button and force printer out of power save. Windows 7 drivers frequently hang mid way through print job. Many design flaws with this product

Other Thoughts: I am a computer engineer and have purchased a ton of electronic and computer equipment over the last 15yrs. This is bar none the worst experience I have ever had with a product like this. Do your homework before you buy.

1 out of 5 eggsNot there yet

Pros: Has all the bells and whistles:
Duplex, two paper trays, document feeder, web connectivity

Cons: Accumulates errors that require power cycling (defeating the whole wireless thing as I walk across my office to restart it)
Tech support treats you like a child. I repeatedly told them that multiple computers experienced the same error and they continued going on about drivers for the one I was using.

Other Thoughts: The price and sexy appearance hide a scary time-sucking demon. Don't fall for it.

1 out of 5 eggsDocument Feeder Hell

Pros: Its Cheap for a dual tray WIFI touch screen printer... Speaking of which The touch screen is Very Shiny!

Cons: AUTO-DOCUMENT FEEDER. This thing is a Joke, if you plan on scanning anything at all get a different printer. The first one I got didn't work at all, after calling Lexmarks Tech support department (a waste of 2 hours), they mistakenly sent me a Pro 205 to replace my 905, wasted another hour with their support dept. and finally received a proper replacement, which I will admit worked better, though not well.
The autodocument feeder does not recognize a single sheet of paper, if you place a stack of paper there, it consistently takes multiple sheets, and almost always leaves the last sheet there. If you try to scan something you received in the mail you better iron it first, any kind of bend or fold and the autodocument feeder will not recognize that its there..

Other Thoughts: Unless you want to waste all your time opening and closing the document lid scanning pages one by one, this printer is not for you.

If you can care less about the scanning/copying/faxing function and want a printer that is slower with poorer quality than its competitors and has terrible support... This is it!

I have spent countless hours being jacked around by their tech support, i cannot return it to the store purchased from as the serial number doesn't match the one on my receipt. They promise to return calls and never do. They promise a refund but tell me it will take 5 to 7 weeks to process. so now after buying a Lexmark I will be out of a printer for almost 3 months.

I know its Shiny, but if you wish to copy/scan/fax Move on.
