Cartridges are not too expensive Cons: None so far Other Thoughts: I do not get why someone would mark this off for not being able to refill cartridges. I am printer and copier reseller/servicer and although I have seen people get away with refilling, I have also seen refills render a device completely useless. Cons: Cannot refill the ink cartridge. What a GREEN idea to play the role of putting a shopping cart full of ink cartridges into our landfills on a weekly basis. Lexmark (Skidmark) has opted out on being a GREEN type company. GO BACK TO HEWLETT PACKARD (HP). Save yourself the aggravation. Way to go Lexmark.......NOT! Other Thoughts: When I did print this chip on the cartridge literally counts how many documents you print. It then shuts down the cartridge whether or not there is still ink left. There should be laws against this limiting the cartridge. Manufacturer Response: We don't recommend refill or remanufacture cartridges. We made that decision as a result of a detailed Life Cycle Analysis environmental study performed by an independent, well-respected organization in Europe. We learned that the environmental impact of transporting and cleaning cartridges, coupled with the need to replace some key components, makes refilling and remanufacturing less environmentally friendly than responsibly recycling cartridges and manufacturing only new ones. Through extensive testing (by us and by independent labs), we found that the failure rate for refilled and remanufactured cartridges is also quite high. Further, it is virtually impossible to get original-level print quality from a refilled or remanufactured cartridge.
