3 out of 5 eggsGreat MMI, Need Extended Warranty

Pros: Great Man-Machine Interface. Nice color prints
Scans to a PC can save to any drive as a PDF etc.
Faxing works well.
Front access to maintain the cartridges

Cons: Can work well for several years. Difficult to service when it does break. Suggest getting the extended warranty. Belt drive error is almost impossible to reset.

Other Thoughts: Not all 3rd party cartridges work

2 out of 5 eggsBuy the warranty

Pros: Lots of features, good print quality.

Cons: Paper jam issues. High cost of repair. Few service centers. Terrible on-line support. Short manufacturer's warranty.

Other Thoughts: I spent a good deal of time researching multifunction devices for my home office. This product always ended up at the top of the list. Having always had a good experience with Samsung electronics I purchased this printer and it worked pretty well for a couple of months.

Like a bad joke, the day my warranty ran out the printer stopped working, reporting a paper jam that didn't exist. The Samsung support website was no help, and after three days of troubleshooting the problem on-line I gave up and drove the printer to the closest Samsung service center, which happened to be 60 miles away. The quote for the repair out of warranty was, more than I paid for the printer and shipping.

I usually skip on-line reviews of products that have one or no stars, as they are usually not coherent. But I've since gone back and read through the reviews for this product on multiple sites and I have to say I should have been aware of the paper jam issues before I spent the money for this prin

1 out of 5 eggsworst scanner/printer ever

Pros: it's quiet which is the only reason I didn't return it for a complete refund within a month

Cons: everything else.Scanners (both autofeed & flat bed) never worked right, And You never know when it's gonna work and how long. About 60 % of my copies go straight to wastebasket.I gave up faxing real soon because there was no telling how many pages will be readable. For the same reason it is not advisable to scan /copy more than a few pages. Set it to 20 pages and when You come back half or all might be wasted. It only has three shades of darknes and none is dark enough,The scanner lid was twisted from factory and never sealed right. It also doesn't hold open by itself. I dont even use it all that much but with so many completely black and smeared pages the toner and waste container didn't last long at all.

Other Thoughts: This seems to be Samsung first venture into copiers and it crossed my mind that they might not be good at it.But since their other product are usually of good quality I figured I'll give them a chance. Big mistake.
It is an innovative design but it's also a junk.

1 out of 5 eggsWorst printer ever

Pros: Lots of features for the money - Even found a $100 rebate online after I purchased the printer. Easy to use web interface, easy to setup.

Cons: When the printer worked, my biggest complaint is that the display has no backlighting, making it very difficult to read. This has been, by far, the worst printer I've ever owned. Problems began about 5 months after I purchased the item. Black text is faded and hardly readable down the one side of the page, even though the black toner cartridge is not even close to empty. Spent hours on the phone with Samsung tech support, and still do not have a printer that works properly, even gave them credit card info to send parts and they lost the order.

Other Thoughts: spend the extra $ and buy HP

5 out of 5 eggsMacOS drivers

Pros: Plenty of features, good compatibility with lots of printing environments, document feeder, better quality than cheap consumer multifunction printers. Setup is easy and the new toner smell dies down before too long.

Cons: Network scanning seems kludgy, but luckily USB scanning works great.

When installing on OS X, be sure to download the latest drivers from Samsung's site, rather than use the included driver CD. Otherwise, all color print jobs consistently fail with no error message.

No manual feed, so you always have to use the regular tray.

Other Thoughts: I would recommended this printer.

3 out of 5 eggsTotal system failure at 15 months

Pros: Networking. All in one. Easy toner replacement. Relatively inexpensive toner compared to the competition.

Cons: 3 months out of warranty, total system failure. This was on an immaculate home use system used less in 15 months than the recommended monthly duty cycle. Replaced color toners once and black twice. Not good.

3 out of 5 eggsAverage

Pros: Considering all you get for the price this isn't the worst you can do. Color laser, fax, scanner, copier, scan/fax to email all great features for one device. Scanning directly to your usb drive is a cool feature. Good unit for home use.

Cons: As with everything, all in one devices are bound to disappoint, it's just not feasible to have one device do everything. This unit does try to do everything, it just isn't amazing at doing anything. It prints, slowly. It scans, poorly. It faxes, big deal. It's a network device, hit or miss. It prints in colors, not very impressively though. It's big and noisy as well and, the manual feeder is terrible.

Other Thoughts: I have to insert a page into the manual feed, then pull it back out until the printer warms up, then re-insert it. Otherwise it pulls the sheet half way through the unit and jams, it does this every time, without fail.
Unit will not print paycheck stock without jamming. I have had times when the fuser failed to fuse the toner to the paper, random. Setting up the scan/fax to email is tough. Either some documentation was left out of mine or something because nothing I have even mentions this feature.
Overall, if I had it to do again I would not purchase this printer, especially in a small to medium sized office...it just isn't up to that.

2 out of 5 eggsnothing but problems

Pros: nice features
decent operating costs

Cons: poor quality
spent too much time maintaining this printer
poor technical support

Other Thoughts: I purchased this printer for out office. I've had to replace all of the major components at least once. I received broken replacement parts from Samsung and had to create 1 good part from several broken ones. I wasted many hours keeping this printer running.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great printer, customer needed a replacement and decided to go laser. Much better per print costs than an inkjet and just about the same price point.

Cons: None.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: 5 stars for price versus quality

Cons: (1) Using MS Vista, product will not scan within a network enviornment. Several discussions with tech support confirmed this. Tech support says that they expected the geeks to come up with a fix. (2) Paper tray a bit flimsy.
Had a bit of trouble, keep getting message "IP Conflict". uninstalled all software and components (watch for remnants) then reinstalled; hoping that this solves the problem (even tech support thoght that it was unusual).
