5 out of 5 eggsSolid Printer!

Pros: Never an issue with this printer, this is my 3rd purchase for this model, one for my own use and 2 for my support clients. VERY easy to install & configure the network options

Cons: NONE!

Other Thoughts: also, have had NO trouble using toner re-fill kits with this model.

4 out of 5 eggsOK for the occasional home user

Pros: It was the cheapest laser printer with a network port I could find.

I had to manually add the printer to my CentOS 6 server but the drivers are already built-in (no driver disk needed). That's a plus.

On my Ubuntu 11.10 workstation, if I browse for printers, it will show up, and I can then select and add it to the list of printers.

It is even easier on my wife's MacBook Pro (running Lion). I didn't have to do anything at all. It automatically showed up in the list when I went to print. Nice.

Cons: I can confirm what others say that this printer wrinkles envelopes and curls paper. For the moment, this is just an annoyance. The paper & envelopes are still usable.

Other Thoughts: I use this printer at home maybe once a week. Due to the wrinkling, I would find this printer unacceptable in an office environment.

5 out of 5 eggs4 years experience

Pros: bought one for a business not sure what to expect. easy to install, powersave mode, fast, quality output so got another to handle load of 4-6 reams per month. After a year to avoid drum maintenance issues rolled oldest to family member and got another for the business. Did this over the years ending up with 2 at the business plus the SCX 4826 and 5 at family homes.

Cons: While I never had any problems, I understand that 30,000 pages/month means 30,000/20 or 1500 pages/month is what it will handle, so when the 2855 was at a good price I got because of the 50,000 p/m duty cycle. One real CON is don't expect this to handle a lot of duplex printing. you will burn it out unless it is just an occcasional thing. PS: People who have connect problems didn't make the IP address static. We always marked the printers with a note with their IP address.

Other Thoughts: So, I have bought 6 or 7 of these including one that was refurbished for from $90 to $150 and none have failed and I get 5,000 page toner cartridges for $49 or I refill & change out the chip for $30 to $35 ($25 at Xmas last year)

4 out of 5 eggsGood for home office

Pros: Small, compact, fast.

Cons: Sometimes hard to keep on the home computer network, at times almost seems like it went to starbucks and then its back. Have had to reload drivers a few times either because it would rather share a driver through another networked computer than on direct IP. Had to ding one egg for this.

Other Thoughts: Less than a foot call so it fits on a book shelf.

1 out of 5 eggsShame on Samsung

Pros: Nice when it worked

Cons: We bought several Samsung Printers, including one of these at the same time. ALL OF THEM HAVE BROKEN DOWN WITHIN 4 MONTHS!. Spend 3 hours twice on chat or telephone w service before they allowed us to return it. I returned it and put a piece of tape over the USB connector. They returned it later saying it was fixed. When I got it back, it made loud noises and still printed blank pages. On top of that, the tape on the USB port was still there. They didn't even hook the printer up. I then tried to contact them and ended up with the same chat line who wanted to go over all of the troubleshooting items again. STAY AWAY. Sadly, this was bad enough that I've decided not to shop at Micro Center again unless they drop the Samsung line completely. Never had trouble like this before.

5 out of 5 eggsAutomatically recognized by Ubuntu

Pros: Ubuntu 11.04 and 11.10 recognized this printer automatically within seconds of my attaching it via a USB port.

Cons: With previous Samsung printers I've owned, using off-brand toner cartridges resulted in paper jams and grainy printouts. Unfortunately, he Samsung replacement cartridges are expensive.

2 out of 5 eggsDied In A Week

Pros: Very affordable..I normally trust Samsung name in electronics.

Cons: Samsung not so good in the Laser Printer department. I set this up on Thursday..by Monday it failed..Error light stays on
solid after power up..Dr Samsung utility of no use to evaluate. Gonna do a Newegg RMA and try this one again...Hoping it was just One in a Million that this one died so quickly.

5 out of 5 eggsIt is really nice

Pros: A very nice upgrade from the ML-2010- Adds 1200dpi, networking, duplexing, optional memory upgrade, speed, additional optional paper tray, quieter.

Cons: toners might be a bit more expensive

Other Thoughts: For me, the pros outweigh the cons by a wide margin.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Inexpensive, small, built in network and duplex printing. I enjoy the fact the printer drivers and software are not intrusive, and don't take forever to load. Toner cartridges are pretty inexpensive.

Cons: The first toner cartridge started fading during printed at about 20%

Other Thoughts: If you print primarily text, this is a much better deal than any inkjet!

5 out of 5 eggsSamsung Workgroup Laser

Pros: Prints Quickly for a Home printer.

Cons: Toner refills aren't cheap, but they last a long time with typical home printing habits.

Other Thoughts: Got this for cheap on a Newegg weekend deal. For the price I paid it was more than worth it. If I paid full price I would have rated it 3 1/2 - 4 stars.
