Its size isn't a measure of its strength; it has a 5000 page per month duty cycle. It's surprisingly fast, too -- it can print up to 17ppm from its 100 sheet input tray. The first page comes out in 15 seconds from sleep mode.
The glossy black top cover has soft touch buttons and blue LED indicators than shine up from underneath giving the ML-1630 an elegant appearance. At 13.1'' x 14.8'' x 4.8'' it won't take up much room on your desk, but with as good as it looks you wouldn't mind anyway.
Pros: Best-looking B&W laser printer with lowest profile, touch-screen type controls and quietest operation of any laser i've owned.
Cons: Toner cartridge has usual low yield but found solution. Got a MICR cartridge from checksnet that can also prints checks.
Other Thoughts: Paper turns a sharp corner during printing so you can not print using shipping labels or peel-off label paper (they jam inside printer).

Pros: Unlike a few lasers I've previously owned that looked & sounded like meat grinders, this one is cool & quiet.
Cons: As with many of the lasers, manufacturers don't give you a lot of toner in the cartridges.
Other Thoughts: Took advice of another reviewer & got a toner cartridge from checksnet. It's heavier so must have lots more powder inside and it appears darker so I turned down printer darkness setting and expect lower cost per printed page.

Pros: Excellent looks, quiet performance, easy setup, newegg shipped it same day as I ordered it, had it in 1 day.
Cons: None. My expectations for this printer were met.
Other Thoughts: I print and scan docs all day. I wanted something to print in black&white with low cost per page. This printer is perfect for my needs. Toner that was supplied scanned no problem. People mentioned label printing problems, I have already printed 200 labels using avery label 6245 with no problems at all.

Good Product, Sucks Power

Pros: This printer performs very well. The lights and tone that show on warm-up are actually really cool.
Cons: When I turn it on (it starts warming up) and when I send print commands to it, all the lights in my apartment flicker. I was afraid this might cause my power supply in my home-built system to leave my comp without enough juice to keep running. However, the computer runs fine.
Other Thoughts: The toner is a high initial cost, but compared to inkjet the savings are really good (4c per page vs 8-10c per page). This printer is a great value. I've heard that the bargain inks don't work as well in this printer, but I was able to find the original Samsung on the Newegg site with a small discount and free shipping that made it roughly the same price as the bargain ink.
