4 out of 5 eggsGreat value, but better options out there

Pros: Picked this up on a shell shocker deal for only $59. I see the price is up to $115 now... not worth $115.

Inexpensive, works great with Macs, and comes with toner cartridge.

Cons: No ethernet or wifi, minor problems with feeding from the paper tray, a little loud, and there's much better options available for only $20-$40 more.

Paper tray issues: this thing doesn't seem to like having less than a full tray of paper. When it's below half full it has trouble pulling paper. Maybe it's just mine, I'm not sure. In any case I just keep it fully loaded and it works fine.

Other Thoughts: Overall this printer is a good value when priced in the $60-$80 range. If you don't need color or ethernet/wifi connectivity, this is the way to go. It's faster than an inkjet and cheaper to use.

4 out of 5 eggsIt's an average laser printer

Pros: -Laser printer.
-Prints fast.
-Does allow manual duplex printing.
-Toner saving setting, dull contrast but manageable for school texts.
-Better than an Ink-jet printer.

Cons: Problem:
-Has issues with double sided printing. I followed the steps correctly but some of the pages remained in the tray instead of coming out printed on the back side as well.

Solution:
-Tried double sided printing a second time but added a lot more paper and changed settings to toner saving, this time no pages were left behind, I guess the feeder is not perfect.

Other Thoughts: I hope this issue will not reoccur if i keep the feeder well stocked. Otherwise I would regret not buying the other printer model/brand that was on sale here as well.

Printing on: Georgia-Pacific Basic Copy Paper 20Weight(75 g/m^2) 88Bright (125Whiteness). I don't know what different paper qualities mean and if they relate to my issue but this was just cheap paper from the local Wall......t.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat little laserjet

Pros: Fast, nicely designed as far as looks. Toner is reasonably priced.
I would buy one again, and look forward to a few good years out of this little laserjet.
wife was printing out a lot of documents, using up the expensive ink on our canon inkjet. Hence the need for laser. HP is good but a bit more $$ , based on reviews here on newegg and the price, I found this nice little unit. Glad I got it.

Cons: Not really a con but dont panic if this thing makes your lights flicker in the room you have it plugged in. The printer can suck down up to 1400 watts while its warming up. that will make a lot of devices like UPS's and desk lights flicker. again, DONT PANIC. I went downstairs and plugged in a long extension cable into an outlet with nothing else on it and sure enough.
If you plug it into a branch of your power outlets in your home you will notice it doesnt cause anything to flicker.
I just need to have one of the outlets in my computer room moved to its own "branch" on the circuit breaker in the basement.

Other Thoughts: First time I turned this on my UPS's beeped and the lights flickered. Realized I have too many things plugged into the same branch of outlets. Just get the laserjet plugged into outlets on a separate branch and you will be fine.
This occurs on a lot of printers and not a problem with just this unit.

5 out of 5 eggsNice and Easy Product

Pros: This Printer was easy to install. I purchased it for my Mother who is Quite illiterate when it comes to computers and accessories. She had it all out and assembled and hooked to the PC before I even had a chance to call her. Software was a snap. I Owned a older sibling of this printer and definately recommend the ML series.

Cons: Wish it came in Black. Everything looks better in black!

Other Thoughts: Although this unit does not offer all the features I would have preferred (WiFi, advanced LAN, ext) it was a very nice fit for the price. You cant go wrong with a laser printer. Inkjet you'll spend 100$ on ink alone + 50 for the printer before you even run halfway out of toner on this. Heck, Then you can just buy another printer instead of a Toner cartridge!

4 out of 5 eggsSAMSUNG ML-2545 Printer

Pros: Occasionally the hi-volume printing needs exceed the speed of a basic inkjet, which was the primary reason I bought the SAMSUNG
I like the 500 page paper tray.
The printer has performed as expected, no surprises.
The print toner cartridge that came with the printer lasted about 1000 pages, which is what I read online. I ordered 2 replacements (refurb cartridges) so I was prepared.

Cons: Software interface is very simple as described online.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks as Advertised

Pros: Great Price, and does what it is supposed to do. Toner is also reasonably priced.

Cons: None found yet. Just hope it lasts for a few years.

Other Thoughts: First Samsung product that I have not seen overpriced.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Fast, good quality. No jams with regular paper.

Cons: need to work with it to print on thicker cardstock. It says it will do cardstock from tray, but thicker kinds need to be coerced a little by rolling a small stack of it so the rollers don't have to work so hard.

5 out of 5 eggsLINUX

Pros: The Samsung ML-2545 is a good and well priced printer that works great for me in both Linux and Windows.

Cons: Its great that Samsung has linux support (drivers) on there website, but It seams that if you search the internet, many are having issues or confusion on what should be an easy and quick setup. I think it would be good for Samsung and its Linux customers if they would reveiw their application and provide some simple information on their website. see comments in "other thoughts"

Other Thoughts: The reason for me writing this review is only to possibly help other Linux users with pointers on installation. For Windows, you just use the supplied CD and everything is obvious. For Linux, most printers you just plug USB in and it just works (CUPS software detects, installs driver and completes set up to work), but with this model you need to download the “Unified Driver” from the Samsung website and extract file (it will make and be saved into a directory named cdroot) in order to GET ONLY TWO FILES (ML-2540spl.pdd and rastertosamsungsplc). NOTE DO NOT INSTALL the Samsung application, It will install a redundant application on the desktop which you don't need and did not work in my case (I am using RHEL 6.2 64-bit edition) and I had to uninstall (./uninstall.sh). All I needed to do was cd to the directory /cdroot/Linux/x86_64/at_root/usr/lib64/cups/filter/ and do the cmd as root “cp rastertosamsungsplc /usr/lib64/cups/filter/” then just plug in printer and computer will detec

5 out of 5 eggsGreat printer for the price.

Pros: It has great print quality. I've printed about 450 pages on it and have only lost about 45% of the toner - every inkjet I've had would have told me to replace the ink four or five times by now.

Cons: None really. The power cable has some interesting English on it... "Insert securely lest should be detached in set."

Other Thoughts: Very satisfied with the purchase.
