3 out of 5 eggsMeh, could be ok

Pros: Fast printer, decently cheap toner.

Cons: Unit failed after about a year and a half. The fuser unit failed (the part that heats up the drum). Well the temp sensor failed anyway. i was able to fix it by removing the temp sensor and hard wiring it. (i would not recommend this if you plan on printing more than 5 or 6 pages at a time, could cause a fire if it overheats.)

Other Thoughts: I was printing several hundred pages a week so that is more than likely the reason it failed. if this is just gonna be a lightly used home printer it will probably work fine.

1 out of 5 eggsShould be Recalled

Pros: It prints. The print quality is fine.

Cons: If anything is plugged into the same household circuit as this printer it will get damaged. My lamp lights flicker when printing. My computer power supply was damaged and had to be replaced. I purchased a UPS to connect my computer to. Everytime I hit "print" the UPS beeps because the voltage drops so low.

Other Thoughts: This printer should be recalled.

1 out of 5 eggsWaste of money

Pros: Setup was simple enough. No issues.

Cons: The device jammed EVERY piece of paper used. I tried multiple brands and quality (and recommended) and it never stopped.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend getting something else. Find something with several decent reviews. I had horrible luck with this one. I tossed it out as it was not worth the cost to repair.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Prints

Cons: First one died just before the end of the warranty (I can't edit my review, it's the one posted on 11/17/2012 11:49:11 AM).

Drops the line voltage enough to make the UPS switch to battery mode briefly.

Other Thoughts: I had to call Samsung to get them to give me a return label that actually had a destination address on it. Shipped it off to them (pre-paid). Got it back from them a while ago, and it sat under my desk waiting for me to hook it up.

The error I was getting no longer happens, and I don't (yet) see white smoke coming from the printer when it prints.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Monochrome Laser Printer for the buck!

Pros: Everything works perfect for a week now
duplexing is awesome
manual feed thru slot a bit tricky to open but just press in really gently and release and it should open. mine was really stuck.
manual feed is great for envelopes and cardstock, as you open the back door behind the printer as well for cardstock to pass through easier!
wireless feature finally worked on my mac mini connected to a wireless router. click the wps button on the router and it blinks to solid, then hold down the wps button on the printer for a little more than 2 seconds and then follow the on screen prompts on the computer. it was so easy once I relized what the heck the wps button was. your router if older might need to be upgraded to a new one with this feature.

Cons: takes so much energy to print it dims my kitchen light trips my APC Battery Backup device and a warning on screen says you are now running off battery power only on the APC surge protector? Yikes, as I printed the next page I pressed once on the eco button and now it stays on by itself for every print job. No more warning but it does click on the battery and off after about 30seconds but its much nicer. these heat to around 384° temp. so no wonder it takes so much energy. hopefully laser printers in general from my experience can in the future find a solution because almost all I've owned including other brands do the energy hog thing.

Other Thoughts: What a fantastic printer, I'm so glad I made this purchase now. with all its pluses it makes the one con not too bad and there is a bit of a work around on that anyway.
read the included pdf manual as it has a lot of great information on paper sizes and how to use this printer, I highly suggest that. If you can't find it go to samsung's website and click on laser printer and then support and find your ML-2950series pdf manual, you ned that for sure.
This is my second review as I could not get the wireless feature to work, but finally did and it enables me to put the printer anywhere in the room and even print from my iphone 3gs to it. you need to go to apps on your phone and type search for samsungmobile print I think and its a free down load. once installed you need to run the samsung app instead of your phones browser and do your normal web surfing then you can print from the web to the samsung printer. pretty cool man/woman.
this printer won a award too I'm pretty sure just can't remember the reviewer but i think it was an editors choice award on one website.
If you need an inexpensive workhorse printer that is wireless or usb and duplexes does cardstock, envelopes, and many other forms of media, this is your printer, great job Samsung, love it!

5 out of 5 eggsVery Satisfied

Pros: I bought this because I was sick and tired of continually having to replace color ink cartridges even though I did very little color printing. I discovered even if I printed just black and white, the color inkjet was gobbling up colored ink at a very costly rate. With this printer I can go forever and not have to deal with ink replacement every time I turn around. Too, I love the duplex feature. I have to print on 4x6 paper stock, and it handles these nicely.

Cons: For the life of me I cannot figure out what moron thought that it would be wise to make no reference to Duplex printing in the properties! Instead, you see the selections "turn on long edge" and "turn on short edge". I would be willing to bet that 99% of users would have no idea what that is referring to.

4 out of 5 eggsgreat printer with some issues

Pros: Prints extremely well on text so far, have yet to try a graphic, but it prints great. tried reverse duplexing in microsoft word on my mac osx 10.6.8 on a mac mini intel, and it works great! even with copy paper. It did it perfect the first try, I was so shocked.

however I'm getting better paper real quick because this printer deserves that.

Cons: there are quite a few cons with this printer that you should take to heart.
1. total energy hog, it tripped my apc battery backup surge protector everytime i printed and a warning would come on screen. (big tip) while its warming to print press the eco button once to actuate that feature, it helped a lt, but i still here the surge click everytime it prints.

2.the wireless feature for me was a complete waste of my time and did not work on my mac mini at all. I tried everything including following the instructions out of the box, and it just cannot find the printer with the usb cable unlugged. Its not that big a deal for me because of the local of my new printer, but if you need to wirelessly print to an intel dual core chip, good luck. It seems to be more designed to work with the windows machines if you know my meaning. not the mac side of the street.

Other Thoughts: I actually need a good solid printer for my mac and its doing everything fine on eco mode so I'm keeping it as it prints really nice text, looks and feels well made, goes into standby mode, its just made well and you can tell from the printing process.

Hopefully someone can help give me some wireless printing tips, definitely going to call samsung and ask around for tch support.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for Surface RT!

Pros: Flawless out-of-the-box experience. We put six of these in our school, printed out the MAC info and added them to DHCP in a jiffy, and our Surface RT devices hook right up. Snappy first page out and print quality is what it should be for a laser: excellent.

Cons: None. Bought these when they were on sale, so they were a steal.

Other Thoughts: Wish they were black. I keep the "cover" closed and set my coffee cup on it, printouts exit through the cover slit. Any most excellent when sheet feeding labels, by the way.

5 out of 5 eggsBetter than any HPLaserJet that I have owned

Pros: Having owned four Hewlett Packard LaserJets, I can say with absolute certainty that this Samsung ML-2955DW outperforms any of my HPs. It is faster, quieter, and is LAN /WIFI ready. I am running it as a stand alone printer on my LAN network and all of my computers have access to it. This printer works with Windows XP Pro systems and more importantly works flawlessly with my systems running Windows 8 64 bit OS. I have always purchased Samsung monitors and TVs, but this my first Samsung laser printer and she is a sweetheart. Last thing, is that the setup CD does all the work for you, including interfacing your printer with a LAN or WIFI network.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: BUY WITH CONFIDENCE!
Like Samsung, New Egg rocks!
Both are unbeatable & outstanding!
