Pros: Supported (drivers) from Windows 2000 to Windows 7. Quiet and adequately fast for 1-label jobs and all of that for $50 only.

Cons: Requires own software. Requires own labels. i.e. not standard.

Pros: Light, needs little room. Very quick to print. We have 4 of these at our offices and (since 2006), all 4 have run perfect - no jams, no problems and plenty of labels. In the past 3 years, we've must have printed over 20,000 labels between the 4 machines. Gives good label variety choices up to 2.4" wide - including a 'continuous" printing option. Decent Manuel and packaging including 100 free label reel to start. Many options on printing including pictures and bar codes.

Cons: Software is fine - can be a little confusing, but everyone seem learn quickly. The labels can be either low priced or expensive - depending where you purchase them from.

Pros: I have over 225 of these label printers. In the last 2 yrs, only 1 has failed. They are used daily by all of the escrow people in the offices and they love them. Supplies are easy to get locally (WA & OR)
Small footprint works well on desktops.

Cons: Could use an auto cutter, and wish the software was a little better.

Other Thoughts: I had tried a number of other label printers previous to finding this one, and none of them would do everything we needed it to do. My end users almost go through withdrawals if they move to a different office that doesn't have one of these on the desk.

Pros: Drop in cartridges make swapping label sizes a snap. Must use Brother labels, but what you get is a roll of labels on a special roll cartridge. Cartridge has holes on bottom that tell printer what kind of label is inserted so it automatically sets the software. Labels are pretty cheap considering limited suppliers and ease of use. Marks on bottom of labels roll ensure it lines up perfect every time. Manual cutter makes smooth, quick cuts. Cutter is replaceable, but we have not had to replace any of ours yet. Software ties into Office. Prints barcodes.

Cons: Software can be a bit confusing, especially the Office merge pieces. Documentation was not great so trial and error taught us most of what we know about it. If you print a lot of labels you might want to give up ease of use in favor of cheaper labels. You might also want a heavier duty model with an automatic cutter.

Other Thoughts: The least expensive label printer Brother currently has (as of this writing). Great for the home user that prints a few a month or the business that prints a few a day. We have two in our business and I keep 4 different kinds of labels. To change sizes just open the lid, lift a lever, pull out the cartridge and drop in a different one. Stick some of the roll under the roller and drop the lever then close the lid. It lines it up automatically. Tell the software to auto adjust the size and your ready to go. Whole process is 5-10 seconds once you have done it a few times. I am buying one for home use now that the price has come down.

Pros: Excellent Printer, Fast And Great Quality.

Cons: You have to buy the paper from brother. By the time you actually get any use from it the cost for paper costs more than the printer.

Other Thoughts: i wish it was actually thermal as stated, but it's really some type of ink press thingy (machine presses on special brother paper and it makes text)

Pros: This is a very affordable label printer that works great! Once I got a firm grip on the software (which wasn't hard) I use and abuse this printer for all sorts of things. I have recently started printing out barcodes for my business and this unit works great! For the price, I really can't say enough good things about it. Highly recommend!

Cons: It appears that the model was phased out and the media is not available locally. That's ok since I seem to buy everything else off the net anyway.

Other Thoughts: I needed a good daily use label printer when I started my PC repair business but did not have much $$$ to throw at it so I went with the QL-500. Also, most of the QL-500 labels were on clearance at my local office supply stores so that saved me even more $$$.

Pros: Makes beautiful labels; changing label types is easy; aligns and feeds labels automatically; label cutter is simple and clean; software is versatile; easy installation (XP).

Cons: The label editor software takes a bit of study to use.

Other Thoughts: Once you start using it, you'll become a labeling fool.

Pros: Fast print speed, easy to find lables, easy setup.

Cons: only works with there software

Pros: This is an amazing label printer. The included software is incredibly full featured. It includes add-ins for word, excel, and outlook that work seamlessly.

Very quick to print. If you have a small business and need to print address labels you can't go wrong.

The QL-500 can print bar codes, graphics and clipart, as well as any true type font.

Cons: B&W only. No network connection.

Other Thoughts: Software is vista compatible. I have used with M$ office versions 2000, 2003, and 2007 without any problems.

You can print from just about any application through standard Windows printer drivers. There is even a bPAC software development kit that can be used to enhance custom-developed applications.
