4 out of 5 eggsSlow but rock solid

Pros: I've had this fax machine for a little over a year now and it has not had a single problem yet.

I'm doing moderate to light amounts of faxing back and forth for work with it (20-500 pages faxed/month) and some light duty printing. I'm =still= on the starter cartridge too.

Print drivers for this thing are rock solid and have absolutely no fluff or bloat to them unlike HP's stuff (sigh, they used to be so good).

Print quality won't blow you away but its perfectly fine for everything but art, color stuff, and higher level presentations where you need to impress someone.

Also has a small foot print and isn't too heavy either.

Cons: Its slow.

Slow to print and slow to fax.

That is pretty much it really.

Other Thoughts: If you're looking for a machine that can do office light duty and the occasional moderate duty work load for cheap then you've found it.

If you need to constantly fax/print 1,000+ pages a month you'll have to spend more and get a bigger fax machine with a better document printer and paper capacity.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This is the best fax machine I've had other than the first Brother fax I had. The first one lasted 5 yrs. and finally wore out. Problem free! High volume faxes for home based business. Had about 2 1/2 yrs.

Cons: None

4 out of 5 eggsGreat for office use

Pros: GREAT EFFICIENT MACHINE and YOU WILL GET YOUR $$$ WORTH HERE. I have 2 of these in use for an office of 30. I only use these for FAXING. I had just replaced one after being used for over 4 1/2 yrs and the odometer had over 193,000 pages on it before it klunked out. I USE ONLY GENUINE BROTHER TONER AND DRUMS. Paper jams were about 2 month, nothing major and its just basic cheap paper. I will be buying a 3rd for the office here due to a fax increase in another dept and its cheaper than replacing ink carts. Easy to navigate menu and replace toner and drum. Paper tray holds sufficient amounts and the memory holds tons of faxes if its out. Fill the paper back up and the machine starts kicking them saved faxes out.

Cons: I went to do a maint kit install on the machine that klunked out (it wouldn't pull paper up anymore) above to save it and it was a big waste of time, about 1 full day of it. I've been IT for 10 years and will say I am quite skilled and mechanically inclined and it was a P.I.T.A to open that machine. After all was done the machine just never worked, so I returned the $160 maint kit, and bought another machine. It lasted long enough to convince me to just buy another to fix the issue. I dinged the rating one egg for lacking the ease of replacing rollers and the fuser assembly.

Other Thoughts: We never use these for computer printing or copying, once or twice just to see and it worked fine but we have other bigger machine for these jobs. Strictly faxing. If you want a work horse for faxing in and out with very minimal troubles I'd get this machine. I have another machine here coming up on 5 years and 160,000 on odometer and still cranks away.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Laser Fax

Pros: Silent, reliable. Easy setup. Handy copy function. Plays well with answering machines.

Cons: None that I can think of.

Other Thoughts: I have had the predecessor to this Brother laser fax for a number of years. It finally started having connection problems and it was pretty beat up, so I decided to pop for a new one. Back then, I could only afford a refurbished model -- now you can get a new one for under two bills. Outstanding! In my experience, no one makes more reliable laser printers or faxes than Brother, and I expect this unit will live up to expectations.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great Machine!!! I use it in a small business and it is a workhorse. I had a Brother fax machine before and it lasted 5 years with heavy use. I've bought other fax machines and they lasted maybe a year. I would by another one.

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsGets the job done

Pros: Does its job well, sufficient for an office not into heavy duty faxing. Perfect for its price. Assembly is easy.

Cons: Not very high speed, but adequate for its desired uses.

5 out of 5 eggswhat a deal

Pros: works works works. as with so many we buy fax machines and they have issues or alot of set up time. I'm lazy and like to just plug it in and it work as far as faxes go. well that's how this one worked. loaded paper, put in the cartridge and faxed and received .

Cons: can't figure out how to get it to confirm my fax went through w/o reading.

Other Thoughts: I didnt even read but this is a laser fax machine so I am extra happy for the price.
I recommend this to anyone that feels a fax should just work and all they want it for is faxing. (it does print also from what it says)
