5 out of 5 eggsGreat wireless printer, great price

Pros: Wireless was easy to set up and it prints, scans and faxes great. I absolutely love this machine.

Cons: The paper tray does not hold enough paper. EIther that or I print too much....in it's defense, I do print a lot.

4 out of 5 eggsCould be better

Pros: Wireless setup was pretty easy.
Very quiet (actually surprisingly quiet) and quick operation.
Faxing stores the fax and then tries to connect.
Scanning is pretty smooth if using an import feature or the control center software.
Holds enough paper in the tray, easy to reload.
Small in size = small footprint on the desk.
Easy to navigate.
Front-port memory and USB access for direct printing.

Cons: Always defaults to fax operation so you have to be sure if you want to scan that you hit the scan button or select it through software. Same with copy, etc. Not a real con, but it would be nice if it just stayed at the last function.

Other con is fax is picky. I have a popular VoiP and supposedly putting 'compatibility' in the fax down to basic limits the machine to 9600 baud. It doesn't seem to work. I've had 2 successful fax transmissions out of 15 attempts to date. It often crashes at the initialization screen. Even trying the 'overseas mode'. My older HP fax did not have this problem, even without using the pre-dialing codes for enhanced faxing and call wait disable.

I have tickets in with the VoiP service and also Brother. Brother has yet to get back to me, my second service ticket is now in their system with no response. The VioP service has bent over backwards trying to help. No complaints there.

Other Thoughts: All in all, I like it. Good quality prints, acceptable quality scans, receives faxes well, just doesn't seem to send them so hot over VoiP service anyhow. It could actually be a faulty machine since this problem did not occur with the previous fax.

I bought it because I wanted to take the 'main computer must be on and not using VPN for work' dependency out of my home network's printing needs. The wireless works and really does work very well. Small bugs here and there but I have yet to see any perfect solution to date.

I love it's quiet and fast operation. It's always done before I even expect it to be getting started and if I'm not paying attention, I barely even hear it sitting next to it. I'm used to my very loud, huge and slow old HP 6110 though.

If the fax was more adjustable to lower baud rates more easily for VoiP faxing, it would be near perfect.

Gmail my nickname if you have any questions.

4 out of 5 eggsNice Printer

Pros: Wireless; Secure Easy Setup; All in One; Small size; Fantastic prints; Cheap Ink; Price; Easy to read menu screen; LAN and USB connections.

Cons: PACKAGING: When UPS delivered it the package had been torn open and re taped shut. After opening I found all of the parts and the inner packaging appeared to still be factory sealed. PAPER FEED: After setting up the machine I tried 8 times to print a test page befor the paper feed would work. It was making a grinding sound and would not pick up the paper. Kept taking the paper out and putting it back in and after 8 times it started working and has not stopped since. Started to RMA but after the paper feed started working decided not to.

Other Thoughts: I bought this to replace a Canon MFC MP530 which is a lot bigger and heaver. Mainly because the Ink for the Canon was costing me $80 and I did not have room on my desk. This printer prints better pictures than the Canon. I've already run a ream of paper through it and have had no problems. Only print on this on ocassion as I have a small lazer jet to print black and white. Scanner works on wireless and FAX works like a charm. I do not use the Message Center as I already have an answer machine and this would totaly confuse the Wife. All in all this is a good product. I knocked off an egg for the 2 cons. Was really considering RMA untill the paper feed started working right. I have been doing buisness with Newegg for 2 years and this was almost my first RMA. Another thought the LAN and USB connections are on the inside; this makes it great for moving it around on your desk. It is harder for the cables to come unpluged.

4 out of 5 eggsNice unit

Pros: Compact, easy to use. I do like the cartridge setup. Easy to install/change and the price per unit is very reasonable. Print quality is excellent. A good machine for a home or small office use with occasional to not so regular printing.

Cons: Paper tray is a not so great design. You have to pull it completely out, lift the lid and place the paper. Paper quantity is a tad small so if you print with any regularity.

Other Thoughts: It is a nioc unit with some minor negatives. i wold not ehsitate to buy another.

5 out of 5 eggsEasy Install

Pros: I read the instructions and it was easy to install the printer using the wireless connection on my wireless 2wire router. Also the FAX was easy to setup. Added it to 2 computers in my house and all connected to printer on the first try.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I have had to and try to setup other brand printers using the wireless connection and it has not been as easy or as successful.

5 out of 5 eggsBrother All-In-One

Pros: fast InkJet printing, Scanning, Faxing, connect via USB, ethernet, or WIRELESS! It has multi-use card readers and USB-Pict Bridge for uploading pictures or printing them. The wireless signal is strong...something you can appreciate if you're connected at the far side of the house. The scanner/ copier has a 10 page autoloader in it (its 2nd best feature only to its wireless abilities). It has a flip-up color LCD that's bright and very easy to preview pictures on and read menus. The included book is very thick and has instructions on how to everything. All buttons feel sturdy except the arrow buttons...those are a little questionable.

Cons: There aren't many cons, but like another reviewer said...the paper tray is a pain to deal with. Fax is only 14.4k instead of 33 (could be useful knowledge for someone who does a lot of faxing). The menu layouts are a little clumsy, but not too bad.

Other Thoughts: The card readers can function as a mass storage drive which is neat if you have extra cards lying around. The phone on the side can be removed easily and a smooth cover plate can be put in it's place. I've connected my printer to 3 different wireless networks with all ranges of speed and security and have never had a problem. The ink cleaning has an automatic cycle that wastes ink in my opinion...mostly color ink. Annoying, but inevitable with pumped ink systems. This printer is easy to clean, disassemble, change ink, and just easy to use. I have had one for 2 years and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a color all-in-one who doesn't want to get gouged by the prices of H* Ink.

1 out of 5 eggsCould not print black ink - 2 machines

Pros: Everything worked well except the black ink. Wireless was easy to set up, color seemed fine.

Cons: The first one had trouble printing black ink on the paper. I tried 2 brand new Brother cartridges ... nothing. So I ordered an identical replacement. Same thing with the black ink.
Tech support had me run the cleaning cycle 8 times (how much ink does that use!), then wanted me to send the "non-functioning unit" back to them & they would send an identical replacement. I said "This was the replacement!"

We've never had problems with Brother printers before. Hopefully this is just a fluke.

Other Thoughts: Software was pretty big install, but better than HP's.

5 out of 5 eggsoh brother where are thou

Pros: ummm... everything. except maybe for the usb cable and ethernet cable being in a strange place. i love this printer/scanner/fax/thingamajig.

well built. great functionality. great image quality. replacement ink cartridges are CHEAP!!!! the provided software WON'T bloat or bog down your machine.

Cons: some people have complained about the usb and ethernet cable connections being where they are. i guess my question would be "so what?". i mean, it ain't like it's a PORTABLE printer - how much moving around and changing out are you gonna do? besides, the wireless network functionality of this puppy works great.

Other Thoughts: wow. i used to be a fanboy of epson printers (been using them since the daisy wheel), but this MFC is truly a great performer.

did i mention the provided software won't bugger up your OS?!

5 out of 5 eggsBest Ink Printer @ Price Point

Pros: LCD Interface is easy to read. Print Quality is excellent. Very fast, very quiet. The network setup was a breeze! I see some complainers on here, I'm guessing that they are noobs that have never setup a wireless network before!
This printer has one of the best software suites I have come across. It actually comes with a driver packaging tool for deploying drivers to multiple devices! It is truly enterprise-ready at a home user price. I almost went HP, but didn't want the bloated software suite. I am very happy with my decision.

Cons: I would actually give this 4.5 stars because I think the envelope feader could be easier to use. Other than that its perfect

Other Thoughts: This is a replacement for a Dell 945 paperweight. I will never buy a Dell printer again.
