4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Cheap office printer, works great on regular paper. Saved a ton of money on ink. Definitely the way to go if you are tired of throwing money down the drawn with ink jets.

Cons: Not color, knew it when I bought it but it still would have been nice. The reason I did not give it 5 eggs though was due to the problem we had while trying to print checks or on thicker paper. It would jam every 5 checks, sometimes it would take a stack of 10 checks at a time and ruin them all. I dont know if you will use this for a company printer but if you do. DO NOT rely on it to be reliable when it comes to non-standard printing paper.

1 out of 5 eggsBroken out of the box

Pros: Have purchased several others without a problem.

Cons: Printer was defective out of the box. Brother customer support is horrendous. It'd be nice to speak to someone in America but that is not an option. Option from them was to receive a refurbished printer.

Other Thoughts: Will not purchase another Brother product again due to their lack of customer service.

3 out of 5 eggsGood Printer

Pros: Prints quickly and you can get a lot of pages per toner cartridge compared to ink. The printer was very easy to install and has been much better than any ink jet printer we have ever used. Normal printing has not yet produced a paper jam.

Cons: After a couple of weeks the auto feeder copy mechanism was leaving black verticle lines on the copies for some unknown reason. It stopped on its own and now has started again. Printing envelopes is a real hassle as you have to feed them one at a time and there is a paper jam every 3 envelopes without fail.

Other Thoughts: I would still buy this product again even with the problems.

5 out of 5 eggsNice

Pros: - Works with Windows 7 x64, including scanning and faxing which some other MFC's don't support on 64 bit
- Compact, small size
- Print, Copy, Scan, Fax
- Laser
- Networkable
- Relatively cheap toner
- Bundled with Paperport 11SE
- Can also Scan to FTP or Email
- Automatic Document Feeder

Cons: - Audible fan when not in sleep mode (so a tad noisy for a couple of minutes after printing)
- The output tray is a bit cramped
- Comes bundled with a starter cartridge, which has less toner than a normal store bought one would have. Except to buy a replacement cartridge relatively soon.

Other Thoughts: Overall a pretty nice looking machine, for a good price.

1 out of 5 eggsI HATE BROTHER

Pros: Excellent Printer, love the scanning software

Cons: I HATE Brother Customer Service, I have had multiple problems with this printer saying a toner cartridge is empty long before it is empty. Customer service at Brother rather than do anything to help me would rather put me on hold for 30 min, walk me through a bunch of useless steps, and then tell me to buy $120 worth of replacement drum and toner. Thank you Brother for wasting my time.

5 out of 5 eggsDependable and high quality

Pros: I have no regrets about buying this printer. For the price I got it, I could not ask for a better printer that has network capability. It was very simple to connect the printer to my network and I was off an printing right away. The document feeder also works very well and is very handy for all those important documents I have been scanning in to create digital archives.

Cons: The only negative I have about this printer is that the second paper tray (the one that opens in the front and is for basically single pages at a time) only allows a couple inches worth of the sheet to be supported. The rest of the sheet is dangling so it is pretty much impossible to have more than one sheet at a time in that feeder.

Other Thoughts: I have 5 computers on the network and all have no problem talking with the printer. I cannot speak to the faxing capability as I do not use that function, but the rest of the features work well.
