1 out of 5 eggsdoes not work with Windows 7

Pros: good price, worked with windows XP, but when upgraded computer to windows 7, this printer does not work. Will copy though!

Cons: does not work with windows 7, even after spending hours troubleshooting, downloading new driver, troubleshooting again, deleting driver, re-downloading driver...You get the picture. If using Windows 7, do not bother with this printer!

5 out of 5 eggsBest There Is

Pros: Super Fast, Reliable, Durable, Easy to Use, Quiet, Easy Setup and Installation, Wireless Technology, Networking capability

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I bought this printer for school and it has been amazing. It was the best investment I've ever made and has saved me a lot (a whole lot) of money on inkjet cartridges. I would recommend this printer to any person looking for a reliable printer. Toner cartridges are very reasonable and easy to replace. I have gone through almost 6,000 pages now and have not had a single paper jam or problem with the printer. Excellent Fax, Excellent Copier, Excellent Scanner, and Excellent Printer!!!! Brother has done one amazing job with this machine!!!

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: A great and affordable alternative to leasing an expensive model. Does as the description listed describes.

Cons: The software is a little quirky...guess it depends on the OS in use, but manageable.

5 out of 5 eggsGood little work horse

Pros: For a business all in one that is Laser it is pretty small, very easy to use, and toner costs are fairly low for a machine of its size.

Cons: It chould use a custom paper tray, you can feed one sheet at a time in the front; but a lot of the competitors have a little tray that pops out.

Other Thoughts: I have about 15 of these machines at our business. I have not had a single one fail in the 2 years or so since they have come out. And I have a couple of its older brother (MFC-7440N) and have only one of them fail (about 3.5 years old) when it died. The Brother "Control Center" works well but it could use a few more settings for scanning to PDF; if I use Acrobat to scan a document the PDF is about 1/2 the size that the "Control Center" makes and same dpi and color mode.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: This thing is great. I'm coming from using HP ink printers and this printer has already paid for itself in the ink cost it has saved us. My wife and I are in school and this term we have printed somewhere in the range of 750 pages soo far on the original tonner that came with the printer. We have read good reviews about the rosewil tonner so with will try it once this one finally runs out, which is still showing no signs of doing soon.

Cons: None that we have noticed, it does have a separate drum that seems to be rather expensive but with a 10,000 page life it is probably cheaper than getting a printer that has the drum attached to the toner cartridge.

Other Thoughts: Didn't plan on using the wireless feature, but we are and it works great, included software is probably best that I have seen for any printer around. No annoying extra things that you have to sift through, and the document feeder works great.

5 out of 5 eggsGet a brother.

Pros: I've had ZERO, repeat, ZERO issues with 2 brother printers I have. My most recent addition is the MFC-7840W and I love it and I'm sure I will for many years to come. I've had another brother printer for going on 6 years now and it has performed flawlessly the entire time and is still going strong. I bought the MFC-7840W just to add to the office so the people on one end don't have to hike across the office to the main copier/fax all in one machine. We're about 20,000 pages into this printer and we love it. Wifi is a nice bonus, although I think I've used it twice just to see if it works.

Cons: None so far. None foreseeable.

Other Thoughts: It was built well for a compact space, so opening the lid to copy stuff is kinda awkward, and the print output tray is also a little awkward, but definitely not a deal breaker, it is just more designed for a compact all in one job on your desk.

2 out of 5 eggsHorrible wireless

Pros: * Good quality printing

Cons: * Horrible Wifi setup on Mac.
* Can't scan easily on Win7.
* Small display (why do inkjets get full color 5" displays and lasers only get the dotmatrix display?)
* Slightly loud.

Other Thoughts: I've been doing IT for over 15 years and I'm still amazed how clumsy printing and scanning is.

I bought it for home to print/scan on both Mac and PC without the network cable. After two nights of wireless troubleshooting I still can't print on Mac and can't scan on PC. I can print on PC, sometimes.

Plugging it into wired LAN solved printing problems on Mac but now the PC remembers the wired connection and gets confused even after I've repeatedly deleted the old printer.

This is 2011. How hard should this be? Mind boggling. And of course there is all kinds of junk monitors and background programs being installed with buttons to "authorized ink dealers".

I love my gadgets yet this is the worse time I've had in years. I blame Brother, Apple and Microsoft. Just make it work...

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice thing

Pros: -Easy to setup, basically "plug and play"

The software is nice, use the most recent one, on brother's website, not from the CD.

Fax is very good, i love the PC to fax software.

I havent really tried the scanner, only once and it was perfect.

Cons: No USB cable.... I dont understand that but whatever, good thing i already had one.

Other Thoughts: Fast shipping, im glad i bought this when it was free shipping and at a lower price.
