5 out of 5 eggsFabulous

Pros: Connects to PC
PC Software connects to database
Chain Printing (saves tape when printing)
AC Adapter included

Cons: As with all label tape, media is not cheap, but is priced decently for what it is.

Other Thoughts: I have used this printer for two plus years. I have to label many cables and devices and the softwares ability to rotate the text so that I can print cable wraps instead of flags (think 2 inches per label instead of 6 to 8) has saved many dollars over the years and things look cleaner. The chain printing option also saves the waste at the beginning of the print job with the exception of the first label in the batch. Auto cut saves time and keeps things uniform. Other stores do carry an version of this printer that comes with a case.

3 out of 5 eggsBit Disappointed

Pros: Can hookup to your PC and has nice interface to print labels. Windows 7 install went fine. Ability to print "rudimentary" graphics is also nice.

Cons: Power Adapter out of the Box was bad, called support was asked to mail the bad adapter back to them paid extra $7 in shipping and waiting to get a replacement.
But the major issue is that every time the machine is turned on and you print a job it will spit out about an inch of tape and cut it off. Considering the tape is probably the most expensive media you can buy (per sq feet) (about $14 to $20 each) this is just bad design and not mentioned on product page. Also included tape is a sample only (read short version only) so you might as well buy few extra tapes as well.

Other Thoughts: Tape Wasting feature is good for the brother bad for my wallet

5 out of 5 eggsGreat product so far

Pros: easy to use
prints labels well
fairly good selection on labels

Cons: it's a "desktop" labeler...
however, you can tote it around, just not in your pocket...
or it would look like you were REALLY happy to see someone :)

Other Thoughts: It connects to the computer which is kind of nice.
Overall it works very well.
I recommend getting extra strong adhesive labels if you are putting them where it's important.
The standard ones do ok, but it depends on the application surface somewhat.

5 out of 5 eggsInstant love!

Pros: Love this labeler! Tons of label choices... colors, sizes, tamper evident, extra strong adhesive, fat labels, skinny labels, it's got lot's options. Easy to use software that's very flexible. Any font style, size, graphics, it even can integrate with your SQL server. Hooks straight to your PC via USB or use the built in keyboard for stand alone use.

Cons: Labels are a tiny bit more expensive than some labels and you may have to Google search for the more exotic labels at a good price

Other Thoughts: Got this this thing as a stand in in case our bar code printer system goes out (a $1000 plus Zebra printer) but it's going to get much more use than that. Far exceeded my expectations.

5 out of 5 eggsEasy to Use, Versatile

Pros: Easy to set up and use. Connects to the computer as just another printer. Comes with a USB cable. Lots of capability. Wide variety of tapes for most every labeling job, lots of sources for the tapes. Tapes plug right in, simple to change from one tape to another. Software is easy to use. Versatile, can print labels 1/4" to 1". Tapes stick well.

Cons: Tapes are somewhat expensive. I wish there were an option to buy the machine with a carrying case.

Other Thoughts: This is our first labeling machine and I'm very pleased with the experience. I have countless things that need labels, like those little plug-in power supplies/chargers. I'm sure there are places to buy the labels at lower cost. At $15 to $25 per tape at office supply stores I'll be choosy about what gets labeled. Brother sells a wide variety of labels to match any job. You can find one that will look OK with whatever you stick it on. I've not tried the automated features of the software, I just type out a label on the XP desktop and print it to the 2730. It will do bar-code labels which would be handy for doing an inventory. If you're doing labels for files, paper would be cheaper.
