5 out of 5 eggsWow!!

Pros: Just... everything. Printing, scanning, faxing, all done extremely well. Compares favourably to much more expensive units from HP, etc.

11x17 size support is nice to have. If you scan frequently, this is your unit. Same with sheet-fed scanning and duplex printing.

Cons: Well, it's a larger unit. Make sure you clear some table space (don't worry, it's worth it.)

Other Thoughts: This is not the first and won't be the last Brother printer I buy. This is a well-built piece of hardware that does exactly what it says it will!

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Prints 11x17 which I need in my work.

Cons: Takes a long time for it to print color pdf files that are complicated. Way slower than my color laser.

5 out of 5 eggsWorth Every Penny

Pros: A3 high resolution scanner, pretty speedy scanning a full color (24bit) 11x17 @ 600 x 600dpi over wireless connection (avg about 23 seconds via twain in photoshop.) I've never experienced connectivity issues over wireless when printing from Desktop, 2 separate laptops, or my smartphone. Duplex printing is a great paper saver. I replaced my Mustek A3 USB scanner with this unit on a hunch, I'm glad i did. As a tool for an artist it is indispensable for the money. After initial black ink cartridge empties spend the money on the high yield cartridge for everyday use, it's worth every penny and will save you trips to the store.

Cons: Single sheet feeder is a little tricky, sometimes it will misfeed thicker papers. To solve this apply a little pressure on the paper when inserting into single sheet feeder, the feeder will recognize the paper and pull it in a little bit. Once it's "loaded" properly in place you're all set. The scanner UI is very basic with a simple brightness and contrast control which is a little touchy based on the medium you are trying to scan. It takes some playing around with at first but is really easy to use well once you get the hang of it.

Other Thoughts: Brother has proved to me that they can make an excellent product, I've pushed this unit onto many other artists and illustrators... everyone of them has thanked me for letting them know about product.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat value for large format MFC

Pros: I purchased the similar 6710 model for local store to use in their business. It has worked perfectly. No complaints at all. Text is much sharper than most ink printers that I have seen.

Cons: I really cannot think of any. The ethernet cable connects inside the case under the lid so you must alow another 2 ft of cable length when connecting it via cable.

Other Thoughts: This model is very similar to the 6710. There really is no other large format MFC in this price range that I am aware of.

3 out of 5 eggsGood and Bad

Pros: Prints 11x17 which I need in my work.
Print quality is good. Ink usage is reasonable and print cartridge replacements are loa priced.

Cons: Constantly needs print head cleaning.
Start a new print job, the first copies print OK, then suddenly line start to appear and fade out. You must stop the printing and run the cleaning for the heads at least once, sometimes twice before restarting.

2 out of 5 eggsWireless issues

Pros: Prints good quality and rather quick. Easy to configure and setup.

Cons: The wireless adapter on this printer is awful. A Power Save mode kicks in when the printer is not being used, afterwhich the wireless computers in my house lose connection to the printer. The printer responds to pings, but the Brother software continually shows the printer as offline and refuses to print. Setting the wireless connection back to factory default and reconfiguring the wireless allows it to work again until the next power save cycle.

Other Thoughts: I wouldn't recommend this printer if you're looking to be able to use the wireless functionality.

4 out of 5 eggsVery Pleased

Pros: Does everything I want it to do the first time with no hassles. I'm so glad I got rid of the HP 6500, which I replaced once before I gave up on it. Don't have a good wireless network, so I am using the USB connection, with easy self installing drivers. Thanks New EGG for the low cost 15 foot cord, by the way. Scanner Bed is Giant!!!

Cons: no cons yet, though I don't think I will be throwing any hardcore papers into it. Sounds like a lot of small machinery working in there!
