2 out of 5 eggs>1yr Print Issues

Pros: It had great quality prints and was extremely easy to set up to the wireless network when it did work.

Cons: I bought this on 08/27/2012. It has lasted until 11/25/2013 before it had this problem. Not bad, but not impressed. The magenta either got clogged... or I don't know to be honest. Basically it wouldn't print that specific color. I've printed less than ~200 pages in the last year.

There was very little self-help tips from the manufacturer's website or online. It basically told me to self-clean 5 times and call them if it didn't work.

Other Thoughts: I bought this because someone I know had a Brother printer. I don't know much about printers - I'm just a infrastructure guy. However, I would figure that a printer would be able to print more than what I did without problems, or at least be fixable without calling the manufacturer.

5 out of 5 eggsLow Cost - Good Performance

Pros: Low Cost, Fairly Fast Printing, Ink seems to last a good amount of time, Wireless function works great, Document feeder works fine.

This loaded easily for me and the wireless connected quickly and has stayed connected.

I decided to try a Brother Ink Jet after having really good luck with the HL-2270DW and this one works equally smooth.

Cons: After it makes a copy, it does a little shuffle of the print head that makes you wait to start the next copy. It's not a Big Deal, but it does make you wait and waste some time if you are in a hurry.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great - Low Price

Pros: Low cost, wireless. It was only $70 on sale. Printing speed is fast. Wireless function works great. Stays connected.

The most important eliments work really well. So for me, I think it is a great low cast printer.

Cons: It does a little utility thing with the print head after each print job. So it makes it a little slow between each print job.

5 out of 5 eggsWorkhore Printer/Scanner/Copier

Pros: I have printer maybe 100 pages - all flawlessly. The ink system here is very robust, very clean, and it seems like Brother did a good job of designing a system not prone to ink dry-ups. Also, Brother ink seems to be notably cheaper than that of other printer manufacturers.

The real workhorse here is the ADF scanner. I've literally cleaned out several drawers worth of old bills, paystubs, bank statements, etc., about a 14" pile of paperwork, by scanning them into .pdf files. The automatic document feeder/scanner and the Brother software work very well together. By using good naming conventions for every document, with embedded names and dates, I'm able to file and find anything I could ever need. A very impressive machine.

Cons: It's probably easy to link this to the network, but I still haven't been able to do so, though I haven't tried very hard since the wired connectivity works so well.

Also, Airprint would be a great feature if you have success linking this printer to the network.

1 out of 5 eggsInk hog and wont print

Pros: none

Cons: I went through two sets of brand new ink cartridges in a matter of days - not printing, just cleaning heads and printing test sheets to get it to work right!

If one color cartridge is too low, black will no work - you have to replace all of them to make it print in any color. What a rip. Never again.

1 out of 5 eggsGARBAGE

Pros: powers up..... inexpensive ink.

Cons: loss of network once unit goes into hibernation mode. unless you use this daily one print after another this printer is USELESS. Before I attempt to print something i need to reconfig the entire network. FAX does not work due to having insufficient memory? this is a brand new out of the box item, how can my memory be full? Stay away from this item at all cost unless you want to try and return at the cost of the consumer.

Other Thoughts: This is nothing but a brick, HP has failed once again.

Please read all the reviews about the network issues.

Very unhappy with this purchase for sure.
