5 out of 5 eggsGreat printer, works as advertised.

This review is from: Brother MFC-J650DW Wireless Color Multifunction Inkjet Printer

Pros: - Works as they say.
- Takes cheap ink like a champ.
- Has never given me a problem even with a half heavy workload.
- Borderless printing.

Cons: - Borderless printing takes off about 7-12 pixels off the edges to make it borderless.
- Innobella ink costs $65~ for a 4-pack of XL ink.

Other Thoughts: Great value, especially when on sale. I got it for $91.98, and they like to do sales for around $90~. So grab it when it's good.

Also, the dpi is very suitable for most peoples needs.

4 out of 5 eggsSoFarSoGood

This review is from: Brother MFC-J650DW Wireless Color Multifunction Inkjet Printer

Pros: Once I took the time to read the instructions: This All in One worked great. Scanner worked well with both the flattop scanner and automatic feed, Printer worked well both Paper & Photo, Copier Worked well. Didn't setup the fax since I don't have a land line phone but seems straight forward. I'm happy with this product

Cons: This is an older model, rated to work with Windows XP, I have windows 7 but still worked, Brother had all the required software drivers needed to perform which needed to be downloaded from the Product Support site, Brother sends to much hardcopy information which you can get on-line at their website, Should come with small pack of paper and Photo paper but doesn't.

Other Thoughts: Comes in a sealed Box, This means a newer CD was not available for the Newer Windows versions. It however got me to their website to register the product and has a specific page for this Product Model

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

This review is from: Brother MFC-J650DW Wireless Color Multifunction Inkjet Printer

Pros: The Printer is solid. It does everything you'd need for normal use. Colors look as good as you can expect for this price range (good, just don't go photo crazy)

Cons: The software, and the way Brother interfaces with it's customers. When you get one, the only software you should install is the "Control Center" that comes on the CD disk, and the drivers. THAT'S IT! Everything else is completely unnecessary, and starts to act like bloatware very fast (I got update warnings about Microsoft Word from the Acresso updater thing..... How does that even happen?!?). I've uninstalled all the stuff from the CD disk except the Control Center, and things look fine now. Also, DON'T register you printer if you don't have to. The registration process forces you to subscribe to advertising.

It's kind of shameful how badly Brother crams advertising down it's customers throats.

Other Thoughts: Summarizing:

A solid product, from a sleazy salesman

4 out of 5 eggsBrother makes great products!

This review is from: Brother MFC-J650DW Wireless Color Multifunction Inkjet Printer

Pros: Fast printing
Front slots for ink
Easy to use touchscreen

Cons: No USB Cable
Loading paper is kinda awkward

Other Thoughts: First off, if you need a small office printer, this is your guy. I have started to replace all the HP all in ones at my workplace with these because of their reliability and end user ease of use. Everyone at my workplace as their own desktop printer if they need to print anything on letterhead. Instead of loading up the huge copier with it and telling everyone not to print, its much easier to use this.

That being said I have been complemented on how small this is, taking up about 20% less desk space than the HP's they are replacing. Older users (50+ yrs old) find it really easy to use.

My one complaint is that it does not come packaged with a USB cable. I do not have wireless at my workplace nor would I put a printer like this on WiFi in a work environment. Luckily I have a few laying around. Does come with a phone cable for the fax, if people still do that.

5 out of 5 eggsThe predecessor is great.

This review is from: Brother MFC-J650DW Wireless Color Multifunction Inkjet Printer

Pros: This review is about the MFC-J625DW. It appears to be unavailable now. The link on the page for that AiO led here, so the review goes here.

I have had the MFC-J625DW for more than a year. Setup was easy. As we have added computers to our home net, adding the printer to those machines has been straightforward each time.

The other day the AiO stopped communicating over the wifi. I was convinced the radio had died -- and just over a year old. But I discovered from the Newegg page that the J625DW has a two-year limited warranty, so I called customer service. I reached a nice Philippine lady who spoke perfect English. She guided me through a printer reset, and Lo! the J625DW was communicating on the net again. And then the lady guided me through arcane corners of the Windows operating environment to improve the network settings. I have dealt with good and bad service over the years. This was superb service.

The scanner and printer functions have worked perfectly. For example, if you want to scan, you go to the AiO. You tell it to scan to file, and pick which computer you want to scan to. It then sends a PDF file of the scan to that computer, which opens a window to the scans directory. Dead simple. So much easier than going to an app and telling it to scan, using Windows software. Of course, you can still do that, but the on-scanner method is much better.

And there is a document feeder that actually works. Copying is easy, too.

Cons: The naming scheme on the scanned file has the date in mm-dd-yyyy format instead of yyyy-mm-dd format that alphabetizes automatically. (Is this a trivial quibble, or what? But it is my sole complaint.)

Other Thoughts: My happy experience with the HL-5250DN led me to get this printer. If I have to replace either printer, I will look first to Brother.

5 out of 5 eggsWireless?

This review is from: Brother MFC-J650DW Wireless Color Multifunction Inkjet Printer

Pros: Works great via USB. Not a problem for me because the printer is 2 feet away from my desktop.

Cons: Wireless doesn't seem to hold network. I needed to keep power on/off to have it connect. Sometimes re-config network to connect.

1 out of 5 eggsToo many functions, poor support

This review is from: Brother MFC-J650DW Wireless Color Multifunction Inkjet Printer

Pros: Price, OCR works pretty well

Cons: Too many unneeded functions. Who still needs a fax, and why is it always trying to become the default function? Very slow tech support -- make a day of it if you need this.

Other Thoughts: I spent more than an hour waithing for five minutes' worth of tech support. This is unacceptable, and I don't wait on the phone anymore, I hang up and do something else. I'll never use the fax function but I cannot get rid of it, and it always wants to be the default. Pain in the ---.
