5 out of 5 eggsOEM Toner. What's not to like?

Pros: These work. This printer has never failed to produce crystal-clear perfect pages with them. Every aftermarket cartridge you buy is a crapshoot, as experience (I'm a slow learner, apparently) has demonstrated. You buy an OEM HP cartridge, pop it in, and print happily clear pages right up to the point it tells you that it's done. Which is 2200 pages. Not 2201. Not 2199. 2200 exactly. And when you consider that these give you no problems, they are arguably a low cost (if you agree that hassle costs real money) alternative.

These are nicely packaged too, and include a label to return the spent cartridge for recycling.

Cons: Well, I'm not really crazy about the hard-coded page limit. But I do understand it. With a hard limit, HP doesn't have to deal with support calls and complaints about "bad printing" due to an empty cartridge. With the limit, it tells you when to replace it, and you get no say in the matter. Better have a spare on hand.

Other Thoughts: With Newegg's sale on these, and a special promotion, I bought the latest one at a ridiculously low price, which makes it nearly as low a cost per page as the least expensive B/W printers. Props to Newegg. And a nice bonus, the free shipping included overboxing which a lot of places do not do.

4 out of 5 eggsJust Toner

Pros: Works great and isn't messy like other 3rd party brands can be.

Cons: Your printer will stop working if it thinks the toner is out, and it almost never is. However, if you set your printer to "Overide Out", it will keep working even though it "thinks" the toner is out. I'm still using the inital toner I have from another printer.

Other Thoughts: Unlike their cheap multifunciton printers, their laser printers are still are solid.

4 out of 5 eggsIt works

Pros: Fits in my printer and allows it to mark paper as I see fit.

Cons: Good thing these last so long because they're more expensive than some printers.

Other Thoughts: If the black toner in your printer is low and this is the replacement cartridge you need, stop reading reviews and just buy it.

5 out of 5 eggs2200 pages

Pros: There are many kinds of laser printers out there, that is not what this review is about. If you have an HP and want to replace the toner just get the real deal. I've used 'refurbs', 'refills' etc. so I was sold on getting the real thing. This is the real thing, all 2200 pages worth of toner. It's not a starter toner of 500 pages.

It's super easy to swap out. If you were able to load your starter toners it's the same to put the new one on. The printer even does it's wirrly calibration/cleaning automatically.

Cons: None, it's HP. You know you get the quality you want.

Other Thoughts: Beware of other "new" or "NIB" or "OEM" toners. The starter toners that come come with the printer for this style only have about 500 pages worth in each. This one has the full 2200.

4 out of 5 eggssuper-easy to replace

Pros: I was very happy with how easy it was to replace this toner. It may seem like a little thing, but some printers and cartidges are very complicated. It works as well as toner ever works, so there's really not much to say about that.

Cons: It would be nice if HP would allow customers to use ALL of the toner in a cartridge, without the "magic chip" that decides when your toner is empty. But, I suppose if they did that, then customers would be constantly complaining about faded print quality!

Other Thoughts: I just can't give five eggs because of the magic chip that decides when your toner is empty (even when it isn't).

5 out of 5 eggsNewegg delivers!

Pros: Toner exactly as specified. Not going to comment on the printer, as this is a review for the toner cartridge.

Cons: Not the cheapest I found on line, but I trust Newegg, so it's worth the extra few bucks to make sure you have the right product.

Other Thoughts: Read the fine print. Found several cartriges on line that are "Starter" cartridges, with lower yield than the real deal. I shop around, but I usually come back the the Egg.

1 out of 5 eggsSTAY AWAY FROM HP

Pros: The quality of the print from these cartridges is as good as any other laser.

Cons: These cartridges run out much faster than other lasers. My Samsung laser runs twice the copies & the cartridges cost less. You'll be very sorry if you buy any HP printer that takes this cartridge.

Other Thoughts: Had to buy a bunch of these from Newegg...Newegg's service is great! HP offered a rebate. Submitted in timely manner with everything filled out & UPC codes off the boxes. HP sent me message that UPC codes not valid for rebate & no money. Newegg sent authentic HP cartridges....HP just dishonorable.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat printer, but...

Pros: Excellent print quality for photos and text. Quieter than the HP 2820 MFP.

Cons: Included software would not install on Vista. Vista update is available on the HP website

Other Thoughts: If you have vista, go to the HP site and download the latest print solutions package (400 MB) Don't even bother with the CD that comes in the box, it will likely fail installation.

Also, there is no indicator on the printer that a print job is loading, so a person may wonder if the printer is receiving the job. In other words, while the computer is sending the print job to the printer, the printer's LCD screen just sits there and says "Ready". I wish the screen would say "Receiving Job".
