1 out of 5 eggswhat hp support :>

Pros: while it worked it had good print quality

Cons: HP support sucks. This thing is having a all lights blinking. All I can find online is disgruntled owners with the same problem. HP wont help

Other Thoughts: Hp used to be such a great company. Things sure changed

1 out of 5 eggsProblem Printer

Pros: Fast Economical Printing.
Great Photo Color.

Cons: Feed tray problems.
Jams constantly
Slow printing.

Other Thoughts: I am not new to these printers and have been using them for 2 years now. I maintain a network with some 30 printers on it.
Our Company purchased 5 of the HP DeskJet 8000 printers, and within a few weeks had 3 of the 5 replaced by HP under factory warranty, and two of the replacements also started having problems after a few months.
They seem very prone to Paper feed problems, jamming of paper, locking up.
HP is a great company and has been good at replacing the bad one's under warranty, but even the replacements have proven to be unreliable. And the time spent to RMA these back and forth just not worth it.

To bad as otherwise I like these printers, but as you will note many people have had problems with them.

1 out of 5 eggsfalse paper feed "jam" error

Pros: printed great for a while

Cons: Just google officeject pro 8000 paper jam... I am currently experiencing the false paper jam error. I 've owned this printer for less than a year. I tried everything the forums suggested. It is still under warranty. I would not purchase this printer.

2 out of 5 eggsCan no longer recommend

Pros: The Officejet Pro 8000 does only one thing, is over priced, is quite large and loud, suffers from paper feed issues, is known to have false empty ink cartridge issues, and only has a 1 year warantee. And mine, after 1.5 years of ownership, now leaks the ink from propely installed magenta cartridges onto the floor.

Cons: The only positives about the Officejet Pro 8000 is that the duplexer worked well and the ink cost per page is decent. However, what used to be a positive about the Officejet Pro 8000, the near laser-like print quality and print speed, are now matched by less expensive 3-in-1 printers such as the Lexmark Interpret S405.

Other Thoughts: This is an update to my initial 4 egg 10/15/2009 review. Now, the Officejet Pro 8000 only gets 2 eggs and is a NO recommendation.

1 out of 5 eggsIf you get a bad one, Heaven help you...HP won't

Pros: I have several customers who have purchased printers in this series. Fast, economical operation. Wired network connection works well, easy to configure through browser. (wireless can be flaky)

Cons: A customer received one that malfunctioned right out of the box and requested my help. I was forced to endure TWO troubleshooting sessions with HP reps, online & telephone. They finally conceded that the printer was indeed defective and authorized a replacement. They asked if I would like expedited replacement service, I agreed and provided a credit card to guarantee the exchange. They said a replacement would be shipped within a week. 2 weeks passed, no printer. Called them again, telephone rep said they would not ship the replacement until receiving the defective item. I told him of the earlier arrangement; he acted like no such arrangement was even possible. I sent them an email to complain, and received 10, count 'em, 10 BLANK emails back from their auto-response system. No actual instructions or information, just blank emails.

Other Thoughts: HP likes to crow about their "Award-Winning Customer Service" - apparently all of their award-winning customer service reps are employed in other product lines.

5 out of 5 eggsFlawless so far

Pros: This printer has performed flawlessly; I've thrown several 300-page print jobs at it and it whips them out quickly and without hassle. Because I knew I'd be handling these big jobs, I installed XL ink cartridges rather than the ones that came in the box, and these cartridges still show 2/3 full even after approx. 1,500 pages printed. I use the Ethernet connection, and it was easy to set-up and has not failed. It wakes up quickly and starts a new job after only a few seconds warm-up.

Cons: Makes a lot of noise, but so what?

Other Thoughts: I know these HP printers are sold at a low price point so they can gouge you on the ink, but this printer seems to be the most efficient I've ever had (don't forget to set print quality to "Draft" to save a lot of ink -- the print quality on office-type jobs is just fine). Past HP inkjets I've owned also seem to die after a year or so of use, and its too early to tell if this one will be the same. If I could have found another brand/model that I thought would last longer I would have gone for it, but after spending a fair amount of time researching it, just about every manufacturer seems to use the same approach. The Inkjet 8000 does seem to be better built than my past inkjets, so maybe it will last longer. Time will tell.

5 out of 5 eggsDriver Disks

Pros: Ships with a CD containing the drivers for Mac OS X, Vista and XP. Second CD contains Win 7 drivers. Consumer Reports rates the Officejet Pro 8000 very well.

Cons: The wireless model sold out by the time I checked Consumer Reports website and got back here to place my order.

Other Thoughts: I've experienced and read so much about manufacturer's poor support for Win 7 drivers, I'm just amazed at the simple solution HP came up with. Just put the new drivers on a second CD rather than update all the older and in-stock driver CDs. Low cost and simple solution - Sweet. In fact, lack of Win 7 driver support is what prompted me to look for a new printer in the first place.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Printer

Pros: I bought this to replace a laser jet (could afford parts and toner anymore). Does an amazing job on business cards, flyers, brochures, and even pictures.

I bought it mainly because it has automatic duplexing, was a good price, the ink is relatively cheap and i needed a printer fast.

The setup was a breeze, connects right though the hub on my desk, the drivers were installed without any hassle, the monitor thing was updated as well.

The single page speed is a definite plus. I knocked out 200 color business cards in just a few minutes (had to hand feed it though). The quality is there as well.

Cons: The speed isn't there if you're duplexing, as it stops for minute or so, then puts it through on the other side, but that's nothing to tag an egg away.

The ink isn't fast drying, so if you're doing pictures or heavy color documents, let it sit for a few minutes before you pick it up (specially if its borderless). again, not something to take an egg away.

Other Thoughts: If they could get rid of that pause when it's duplexing, it would be a perfect printer.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome printer

Pros: Awesome general purpose inkjet printer for home or small business use.

Fast, especially draft black-only, which is what most of our printing is done in.

Cheap ink (when you consider how long they last, 2200 pages for 940XL black, more when printing in draft mode).

Built-in LAN port for network printing. No need for a "wireless printer" if you just hook it up to your existing wireless router via wired port.

A breeze to set up, even via network. Web-based configuration and status is great.

Cons: Only one paper input, making it a hassle to do a sheet of labels, letterhead or an envelope... however, there is an add-on tray available from HP that fits underneath the printer and gives you a second paper tray.

Replacement printheads (they are separate from ink cartridges but still user replaceable) could be cheaper, hope I never need to replace 'em.

Remanufactured or third-party ink cartridges not yet available for this model, although the "genuine" HP cartridges are reasonably priced for their print yields.

Other Thoughts: Photo printing is not its strong suit, although it does an OK job.

If you don't need true "photo" printing (services are cheaper for those anyway) or a multifunction, this is an excellent printer with consumable costs lower than many laser printers. This is the main reason we bought this model, low ink costs.

This printer has all but replaced two lasers (one of those color) and two color inkjets in a networked small business environment.

Use draft mode for text, looks great and saves on ink.

Use the bare driver-only package from HP's web site to keep some of their crud off your PCs.

No problems with it at all, we've had it over a year.

5 out of 5 eggsTo the other reviews*

Pros: This printer is the best on cost/quantity of prints I have seen on the market for an inkjet printer.

Cons: It is a little noisy. When too much paper is loaded in the printer will hit the paper back a little bit so it can't grab at it properly. You push the top piece paper an inch forward and BAM! Fixed.

Other Thoughts: THIS PRINTER IS NOT WIRELESS. It's not supposed to be, so anyone who has tried to hook it up wireless is not very intelligent. Learn what you bought. You can't knock a star off the rating scale on a car because its not a spaceship. You didn't buy a spaceship. GG
