1 out of 5 eggsjust doesn't work

Pros: When it works, the prints are decent.

Cons: my first one didn't work out of the box. manufacturer sent me a second one. and the second one just stopped working as well.

tech support takes about 10 minutes to answer your call and will eat up about 1 to 1.5 hours of my day every time that i call them.

Replacing toners is difficult. in my case, the toners got jammed.

Other Thoughts: Stick to HP and Brother.

2 out of 5 eggsGet What You Pay For

Pros: When the printer worked, it printed decent quality text, and average color output. Holds a lot of paper, printed heavy paper okay but not card stock.

Price, but that's not always a good thing in this case, as you get what you pay for.

Cons: Where do I begin...

The included cartridges lasted a pathetically short time. Whey they say starter cartridges, they really mean it.

I understand the printers sell near or at a loss, while being subsidized by the outrageous price of the toner cartridges. But the price the replacements sell at is truly highway robbery-- You will pay the cost of the printer at least twice with one set of replacements.

At about the one month mark when the new toner cartridges went in, the imaging unit (drum?) developed a burn mark in the film which manifests itself as a black blotch on EVERY sheet of paper. It appears three times on each sheet. While this isn't terrible for home use, it prevents you from using it on anything semi-professional as there is no way to fix this without buying a new printer or new imaging unit, which is about twice the cost of the printer.

After one month, this heavy hunk of plastic junk is headed for the landfill.

Other Thoughts: I've owned printers over the last 20 years and never had good and bad, but nothing this lousy until now.

I didn't get many pages out of it before the "change cartridge" lights came on, first the black and not long after that the color lights came on, even though I hadn't printed any color. This tells me their counting time as part of the "change algorithm" and not just sheets printed / toner used. This is pretty deceptive.

Once the lights were on for a few days, the printer refused to print after that, even though there was ample toner in the cartridges.

When I replaced the cartridges (which wasn't that hard really), after the printer initialized and printed a few pages, it made an AWFUL mess of toner inside the machine which took many pages printed to clean out.

After the burn hole in the drum I lost all hope for this thing and pitched it.

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Destroyed itself at two months (Both of them), the rolls developed a burn mark in them and jam over and over

1 out of 5 eggsMine was junk

Pros: Low price (if it worked)

Cons: DOA. Same issue others had with the system not recognizing toner drums.
RMA cost for return shipping is $60

Other Thoughts: Sometimes you see a bargain on what should be a good printer and you roll the dice... sometimes you win... this time we lost. Now we are out $60 for the return shipping and need to buy another printer.

4 out of 5 eggsCould be better. At least it works

Pros: Cheap. The second one works. Decent color

Cons: Slow to print the first page, the cartridges are somewhat difficult to install and manage. They don't snap in easily like they are supposed to. Took several minutes to figure out how to seat into the carousel right. could be a little bit easier to redesign. it's also kinda loud.

Other Thoughts: The first one that came to me looked like it had been opened before. All the stuff was already removed which it said to remove. Also the carousel was jammed and broken, the toner already had prints on it and the cartridges were

1 out of 5 eggsArrived broken, RMA'd

Pros: Well, at least it makes a noise. If you go to Minolta's site, the 64-bit Windows 7 driver installed flawlessly

Cons: The turntable that rotates the toner cartridges was dead broken. It wouldn't turn, was jammed. said toner was completely out even though supposedly new. Looks like the printer was previously used even though said new. Toner was all over, including the contacts the communicate with the chips on the toner cartridges. All the prep was done indicating this was previously used before. Made loud noise like carasol was jammed, and could only rotate between Cyan and Black, but it also seems the cartridges were installed in the wrong Slot (Black was in the Cyan slot, Cyan in Magenta, Magenta In yellow slot, etc..)

Other Thoughts: Contacting newegg for an RMA. I tried to do through website but then they said I had to pay for shipping this behemoth backwards. Not going to when they said it would cost close to $30 with their UPS print out. When I get a printer like this in this condition, I am NOT paying shipping back. I will make newegg foot the bill for this reject.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat printer for home use

Pros: -Excellent color output.
-Superb price (under $100)

Cons: -A bit heavy.
-First print after power up a bit slow but acceptable.

Other Thoughts: This is more than enough to use around the house. Not to be used for printing pictures and such - stick with printers that specialize in pics for this.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent printer

Pros: Compared to my previous printer, an HP Color Laserjet 2550, this printer is smaller, lighter, quieter and faster. Print quality is fine. When I upgraded from Windows XP to Windows XP 64 bit, it installed flawlessly.

Cons: No option for a high-capacity additional paper tray. Instead I bought a cover for the fold-down tray so that I could leave it open and loaded all the time, but you can only fit 200 sheets in there. Makes it pretty much a home-use-only printer.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Cheap, fast and good print quality

Cons: Nightmare with Windows 7. The unit stalled when printing large images. Apparently the firmware installed in the shipped unit was way out of date. Downloaded the current firmware but the firmware upgrade utility wouldn't run on Windows 7. Had to connect the printer to an XP laptop in order to upgrade the firmware.

Today the printer wouldn't work at all. It reported "out of paper" when in fact it wasn't. I suspect that Windows 7 wasn't reporting the error correctly.

This printer ended up being too much trouble so I retired it today.

2 out of 5 eggsincompatible with print servers

Pros: Reasonable speed and print quality

Cons: This printer is incompatible with either of my D-Link print servers. They report either "paper error" or "out of paper" even though the printer works properly when connected directly to a computer.
