2 out of 5 eggsDecent when it works, cardstock no

Pros: Good support and service. We've had fusers replaced twice and the whole printer replaced once for free.
Good print quality when it works. Price is good.

Cons: Can't load cardstock or thicker papers to save its life. We've owned two printers and both have this problem. You can only get it to load if you baby each sheet as it picks it up with your hands. Fuser failures are common and also a source of paper jams. OEM toner is spendy!

Other Thoughts: Fix the paper loading and this machine could be a contender.

Pros: Good quality print for a reasonable price. Connected easily to our network. Has worked well until today. We have only done 2707 print jobs.

Cons: An error message came up today that the toner cartridges were not installed. I tried to eject the cartridges to reseat them. The carrousel jumps around and bangs against the front cover, but does not position the toner cartridges for removal.

The cost of having a service tech come to the office to look at it far exceeds the cost of the printer so that is not an option.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent Home Office Printer

Pros: * Very affordable color laser printer. I purchased mine during an excellent discount period though.
* Flatbed scanner + Auto Document Feeder (ADF)
* Faxing features
* Pages per toner cartridge. I don't need to print *too* often, but the advantage a toner cartridge makes in number of pages makes it far more cost effective than an inkjet printer.

Cons: * Somewhat noisy. Printer develops a bit of a "hum" after being on for a few minutes. This is after it's finished heating up, so it's not that period. Not a big issues for me personally since I don't need it on throughout the day, so I only turn it on when necessary.
* I don't seem to be able to connect to this printer from a wireless laptop, even though the printer is wired into my router. Not a big deal, but would be nice if that were possible.

Other Thoughts: Overall I'm very satisfied with the machine. It does what I need it to without fuss.

1 out of 5 eggsDefective from mfg

Pros: none so far

Cons: Printer defective from mfg. I ordered this printer for inventory and set it on the shelf. Sold and delivered this printer only to discover that the fuser unit was bad from the mfg! This is printer 2 of 2 that fuser units are bad! Not happy with these results.

Other Thoughts: Bring back American Quality Service Standards!

4 out of 5 eggsNot too bad

Pros: Good quality prints, fast warm-up to print, ADF for copying and scanning

Cons: A little difficult to set up. Appears that some apps are not network compatible. Documentation is pretty limited.

Other Thoughts: I had owned a Konica Minolta magicolor printer prior to this one, but wanted an AIO solution. This printer is as compact as they come for an AIO. It definitely warms up quickly and the speed of printing is terrific. Copying documents is a little slower than I expected, but it still works fine.

One thing that I found is that the documentation is definitely lacking. Also, the website for downloading drivers is not very user friendly and trying to determine what to download is not very clear. I also found that while the printer can be connected via the network, certain apps for the printer only seem to work when connected via USB. This includes the FAX Address Book download utility. The Scan Application, while it does work via the network connection, will continuously say that the scanner is not connected.

I also found that the Scan Application is a little lacking. While it does get the job done, some settings are not very intuitive and could be improved upon. It would actually take very little to turn the application into a decent program.

Overall, I would recommend this printer. Once it is set up, I have had no issues with it. For a color laser AIO unit, you can't beat this one for the price.

4 out of 5 eggsGood first impression

Pros: Price ($199), Features (Scan, Copy Quality, Network printing and scaning). Easy scan to email and scan to file server setup.

Cons: Wouldn't pick up DHCP address. Replacement toner costs.

Other Thoughts: Paid $199 for the printer. Boss asked me to order spare toners and it will cost $311 to replace the 1 black and 3 color toners. Guess I can buy a new printer every time I need toner to save money.

5 out of 5 eggsBest printer for the price

Pros: Nice colors, laser, price & support center.

Cons: Had to call support to setup driver on windows 7.

Other Thoughts: Laser is so much better than inkjet. This printer is for my home/personal use. It is more than enough for this function.

3 out of 5 eggsjust ok

Pros: cheap, decent speed after first page, ok quality scanner, Ethernet port

Cons: Slow to print first page, long cool down period between jobs, difficulty using scanner over network, poor quality for a laser (my portable inkjet produces better photos), expensive toner

Other Thoughts: I wouldn't but it again, even with the price. Spend a little more for better quality.

4 out of 5 eggsMagicolor color laser all-in-one

Pros: Very good price and feature set within a fairly compact footprint

Cons: Documentation is often confusing and it's very hard to reach tech support, but they are quite good once you figure out how to get them.

Duplex feature is extra cost and the options are confusing

Color images are OK but not great

Will NOT scan or print larger than 8.5 x 11 inches

With optional paper tray and duplex attachment, this is a very tall machine. I had to move it from my desk to a table so I could see the copying surface.

OEM color toner is EXTREMELY costly.

Other Thoughts: Overall, I'm satisfied with my first Ricoh product despite the shortcomings noted above. Compared to my prior experience with Brother B&W all-in-ones, the set-up is much more confusing than it needs to be and the lack of a printed manual is disappointing. It also has a smaller scanning bed so I can no longer make legal sized prints or copies.

I have figured out how to network it as well as print via the USB port with both Mac and PC laptops. As noted by another reviewer, the lack of software support for Snow Leopard is also a disappointment but allegedly will be fixed in a couple of months. For now, I can only scan to a USB stick manually, not directly from my MacBook Pro.

Sheet feeders seem to jam much more than with prior Brother machines. B&W prints are excellent and pretty fast and color prints are OK and not too slow.

Overall, it will be hard to beat this price point for a color laser scanner/fax/copier/printer although Brother recently lowered their price significan
