1 out of 5 eggsSamsung trash in a Xerox wrapper

Pros: Relatively cheap, fast (when it works), comes with both networking and automatic duplexing, fairly-priced consumables

Cons: Not durable at all. We had two of these where I work in light-duty areas (under 500 pages per month average) and both failed before they were two years old. Not long after buying these, I learned I'd been had - these are just cheap Samsung lasers rebranded by Xerox, and in my experience, Samsung's cheaper printers are terrible.

Other Thoughts: If you're looking for a capable, nicely-optioned laser in this price range, avoid this as there are much better and more reliable options out there. We replaced our two failed 3250s with Oki B411dns, which despite costing slightly less have proven to be better in every way.

5 out of 5 eggsMy standard business printer

Pros: Quiet, fast, easy setup, reliable. Print quality is perfect. Supplies (toner) is reasonable.

Cons: Very minor quibble: each comes with a piece of plastic supposed to be a duplex cover . . . I've not bothered to learn where it's supposed to go.

Other Thoughts: I have 8 of these running, and will order more as needed. The ethernet setup is easy (for me), it first leases a DHCP address out of the box, then has an intuitive and complete web-based setup from there. These printers just work well, not one failure or problem encountered.

3 out of 5 eggsA real Xerox?

Pros: See below.

Cons: See below.

Other Thoughts: This $350 Xerox looks strikingly similar to the Samsung ML-2851ND that occasionally sells for under $100. All the core specs are identical. Time will tell, but if that is what it is, then shame on Xerox. We've then been duped.

People pay a premium for a Xerox for a reason, not to get an entry-level Samsung. The Samsung is no reliability champ from the reviews here at Newegg.

So far, our 3250DN has worked flawlessly. We own several higher-end Xeroxes, and those are the real deal. But time will now tell with this one. I

4 out of 5 eggsGreat printer for a small office

Pros: Excellent print quality, double-sided printing, looks very clean (no paper trays sticking out), modules plug in easily and look like part of original device. Runs quiet compared to most laser printers. Can handle a several hundred pages at a time without pausing or overheating.

Cons: If you're set up for double-sided printing, the printer will suck pages back in and then out again even if nothing needs to be printed on the back. Also, high-capacity toner carts are pretty expensive (~$105) and there aren't many generic versions available (as opposed to HP brand toner).

Other Thoughts: Extremely configurable. Ethernet printing works easily with minimal configuration. The diagnostics printouts (what you get when you hold down the button for a few seconds) have tons of information, including the important stuff like IP and subnet mask.

2 out of 5 eggsDidn't last very long

Pros: Economical printer, cheap toner, easy set-up.

Cons: Indicates it requires service in less than a year. The red LED light is illuminated, and won't turn off. I replaced the toner cartridge, changed drivers, etc. The "help" is very limited in what it will tell you is wrong with the printer. A solid LED indicates either a paper jam, no toner, or a critical error. Would have been nice to know it was a critical error prior to purchasing a replacement toner cartridge.

Other Thoughts: Was a great little printer while it lasted. Fast, clean prints, easy install, I just expect products from both NewEgg and Xerox to perform longer than about 8 or 9 months, especially under very low volume.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent. Simple, Reliable.

Pros: The toner is affordable. The machine is built solidly. At home, I've printed thousands of pages over several months without paper jams or issues. Its double-sided (duplex) printing is wonderful. Networking is robust and Linux and Mac OS X auto-discover the printer instantly. Printer status can be viewed and settings are optionally configurable through a nice web-based configuration interface. Full PostScript 3 and PCL support means that this printer is compatible with just about anything - I've tested it on Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux. Silent when idle. Works fine with DDR2 SO-DIMM expansion memory from my old laptop.

Cons: Slightly higher price-tag than other printers with similar specs.

Other Thoughts: I work as an IT administrator and have had exposure to many brands over the years. Xerox machines are zero-nonsense. Despite the slightly higher price tag, they are simply the most reliable, durable, and adherent to standards.

5 out of 5 eggsEasy to Set Up!

Pros: This works just the way a network device ought to. Take it out, plug it in, install software, hit print button. Yep, it was that easy. I'm running Vista Home Premium with another networked PC running XP. Installed the supplied drivers on both machines and I was operational right from the start w/o having to download new drivers, or fidget with network, router or printer settings. How refreshing.

Cons: None.
