3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: prints well, looks pretty nice. Wireless scanning is a nice feature.

Cons: Like every other printer I have ever owned, it's a pain to get working. Even more so because it's wireless.

1 out of 5 eggsBeware! Canon doesn't support their printers

Pros: none

Cons: I don't own this model, but you should be careful. Canon thinks that after 5 years, they don't have to support their printers with drivers. You upgrade to a new operating system and your printer turns into a brick.

Keep this in mind when buying Canon printers.

5 out of 5 eggsexcellent MFP

Pros: Great picture quality prints, easy to use menus, prints CD's, wireless

Cons: Printing CD's is a tad tedious, if you want to do multiples. Each time you tell it to scan & print to a CD, it wants the CD slot closed. Then it tells you to open the slot, insert the CD tray. If the CD slot is open, it will prompt you to close it, then again to open it. I feel this will cause unnecessary wear & tear on the hinges for the CD slot cover.

Other Thoughts: That's my only gripe about this MFP. I bought it at a local box store 3 months ago. Set up was a breeze. The instructions are easy to follow, and laid out well on a poster-sized sheet. Following the directions, wifi connectivity was a breeze. It has 2 paper trays, both are pretty small. One is only for smaller things like photos, while the other tray is for letter/A4 paper. It is a sleek design and looks very nice. I would recommend this model to anyone looking for a MFP inkjet.

2 out of 5 eggsWorked great, at first.

Pros: - Sleek
- Good size (for me)
- Easy to set-up wirelessly

Cons: - 5 ink cartridges..
- Had to call support to bypass an error code out of box..
I should have listened to one of the other reviews here that I read, it does indeed take this printer ages to ready up for a print after it sits idle for a day or two. I don't print often, but when I print I usually need it soon.. Don't expect that with this printer.. It has taken about 5 minutes to prep for prints on good days, up to 10 minutes on bad days. In this time it can also say that the printer is busy and fail the printing from the host computer.

Other Thoughts: I would not buy this printer again in the future, sadly I am stuck with it for now.

3 out of 5 eggsHappy with the printing.

Pros: Prints beautifully, it's not as fast as my old HP photo smart but does a good job.

Cons: Takes almost forever to activate after being left idle for about 15 minutes. Also uses a lot of ink to start back up, goes through a cycle every time it starts. (Cleaning cycle?) The ink cartridge is very new so some places do not carry it and it is VERY expensive.

Other Thoughts: I really do NOT understand why Canon (and HP, and !!!!) use so many DIFFERENT cartridge designs unless it is to force customers to purchase an entire new batch for every printer, thus increasing their profits at our expense. I guarantee they could design two, or at most three, cartridges and use them from model to model.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Printer

Pros: Superb professional looking photo prints that greatly exceed the other printers in this price range. Prints documents quickly, and as good as any other inkjet printer can on plain paper. Dual paper trays, I keep 4x6 photo paper in the top tray and 8.5x11 in the lower. Air print works flawlessly from both my iPhone and iPad. Windows Installs basic drivers automatically. I found all the software bundled with the printer unnecessary/ useless except for the CD/DVD label printing. No bloatware with the driver! Scan quality is above par as well. Alignment sheet does not require to be placed on the scanner after being printed. It aligns while printing the sheet, and no gigantic black bars of wasted ink on the alignment sheet either.

Cons: Cons here are just FYI and did not detract from the printer rating

Lengthy setup process, printer runs about 30min of self tests and alignments on initial setup. Printer takes about 45 seconds to one minute to become ready after being powered on. Printer will also have fun with itself and make lots of noise before printing some documents. A complete set of ink cartridges is about $10 more expensive than competitors.

Other Thoughts: Stop digging through the box... the CD/DVD tray is mounted under the top paper tray!
