4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Excellent for printing CD labels, and I print a LOT of CD/DVD labels! Excellent for printing photographs... once you get your settings right the photos are excellent. I have never had a glitch using it on my wireless network with 3 different computers. Setup is straight-forward. Most of the complaints I see are from folks that are not paying attention to setup details or just do not make the effort to learn how to use such a feature-rich device. You need some persistence and skill to use any such device effectively.

Cons: Ink is fairly priced for pages of output I get, but really seems to run through cyan and magenta faster than the other colors... even if I am printing primarily gray-scale documents. I feel that the cartridges on these colors should be a little larger in order to be more in sync with page output of the other cartridges.

Other Thoughts: First page printing is slower than it should be and it takes a while to calibrate itself every now and then. Seems like this calibration uses some extra ink. I have owned Canon, HP, Samsung and Brother color ink jet printers for more than 10 years and this is one of the best ever for what I use these printers for.

4 out of 5 eggsgood printer, good service

Pros: Prints nicely, including photos.

Setup was easy, both USB to my PCs and WiFi connection to my Netgear router.

First unit had a minor mechanical problem with the output arm not folding out, but Canon replaced the entire unit under warranty with no fuss.

Much more economical on ink than my previous printer (LexMark 2480).

Cons: The output arm for catching the paper is flimsy plastic, handle with care!

Also, I've had to reset the printer a couple of times (full off, then back on) to get it to respond over WiFi (granted, we don't use it daily, and both times it had sat unused on standby for several days).

Other Thoughts: Be sure you upgrade regularly to the latest firmware! Menu => Setup => Device settings => Firmware update => Install update.

5 out of 5 eggsawesome printer

Pros: Quick printing, wireless or wired connection, print/copy/scan/fax, high resolution scan. Worth the price and will make you happy.

Cons: It went on sale for $45 less after I bought it. :(

Other Thoughts: A bit large but it still fits on my desk shelf.

3 out of 5 eggsSo far so good..... BUT!!!!!!

Pros: Reputation.... I had an MX830 and I don't remember the one before that one. My MX830's print head went south and with the price of printers these days it didn't make sense to get it replaced. While I have the MX830 in storage (just in case), I acquired the MX922 from OfficeMax on a huge sale.

Cons: It does take awhile to spin up the first page; which is extremely frustrating. I am going to see if there is update drivers and/or firmware on the support site.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Printer and lots of features, but slow to first print

Pros: Duplex Printing
Air Print
Scanner

5 ink tanks
Automatic Document Feeder

Cons: Slow to print first page, if you let it sit for a while (like 6 hours or a day or so).

Other Thoughts: Great Printer, I would buy it again.

4 out of 5 eggsNo problem - installs great

Pros: No problems with installation. Sleek design. Excellent output. Instructions leave nothing to chance.

Cons: Image Garden (optional software) causes startup problems - if you have an older Windows OS, or if you use Adobe software, you can skip this software. It can slow down or hang the startup (where it automatically inserts itself)

Other Thoughts: Did not test networking ability - this was a direct USB connect install to a Sony VIAO laptop.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Scanner

Pros: Easy to install and use software, scans well.

Cons: I am unable to get it to work with my (Ubiquiti) wireless access point.

Other Thoughts: It works fine with a wired network connection, but for some reason, very possibly my particular access point, it won't "connect" with my computers when I try to use its wireless feature. My router and my access point are two different devices. No one has been able to solve the mystery as to why it does not work, possibly, it could be that my access point is somehow blocking a protocol that the device uses to transmit data. To be fair, I have had this problem with other scanner/printers. Another Canon I tried would print, but would not scan. An HP I tried had a similar problem.
