4 out of 5 eggs2nd time acceptable

Pros: Cheap, acceptable output quality

Cons: toner adherence on labels, occasional smudged output, toner life stats sometimes questionable

Other Thoughts: Updating my two previous reviews, we used a second cartridge and are on our third. The cartridge life stats on the second one seemed more valid and it printed just over 24,000 pages before the output started getting light. Output quality on plain paper has been fine, but we printed a series of several thousand Avery file folder labels and the toner did not adhere well to those, flaking off easily with a fingernail. Overall, we are still buying these because of the low cost, but there are tradeoffs: occasional smudging, occasional bogus cartridge life stats, and toner adherence to surfaces other than 20lb plain copy paper.

3 out of 5 eggsstarted strong, finished weak

Pros: Cheap.
Acceptable print quality.

Cons: May not last the rated number of pages.

Printer may report erroneous information about cartridge life.

May experience occasional spotting/smudging of output.

Other Thoughts: This is an update to the review I posted in May. The cartridge started out well, but about 10,000 pages in we had perhaps 20 pages of smudged output, then it cleared up. After 20,000 pages, output became smudged again and did not clear up despite shaking, cleaning, etc. In the end I removed the cartridge from the printer after 20,128 pages.

The Supplies Status page from the printer indicated that the cartridge had printed 20,128 pages, but had 54% of its life and 23,628 additional pages remaining. I cannot believe that the cartridge would have been good for 44,000 pages had it not started to smudge, so I am presuming that the remaining life stats were bogus.

In the end, I bought another one of these anyway to replace it, because the cost per page is so much less than the OEM cartridge that the hassle of only getting 20,000 pages and having occasional smudging was an acceptable tradeoff.

I will post another review when I see how cartridge #2 does over its lifespan.

5 out of 5 eggsso far, so good

Pros: Printer (HP P4015) actually reports the cartridge to be genuine and is giving page count and usage information. Print quality is good - perhaps a touch below the HP cartridge, but very satisfactory.

Cons: Cartridge feels a tad "flimsy" and the instructions include all sorts of warnings about how to resolve streaking and spotting issues (which does not give you the warm and fuzzy when you consider why they felt they needed to include such instructions). Thus far, no streaking or spotting, however.

Other Thoughts: For the price differential between this and the genuine HP cartridge it was worth it to try this out and, thus far (roughly 500 pages in), the cartridge has performed well. It is supposed to be a 24,000 page cartridge, so I will post a new review if it ends up having issues or gives out before 24,000 pages. So far, so good.
