2 out of 5 eggsWorthless on modern server OS

Pros: Easy to configure on a client workstation running Windows 7. Quick inkjet printing.

Cons: Absolutely worthless on modern server operating systems. Server support ends at Microsofot Server 2008 64-bit, but no support for 2008 R2 or higher. Does not work well with HP Universal Drivers.

Other Thoughts: Got this for a client and the install went great on the local PC's, but could not get any drivers to work when installing on a Server 2008 R2 x64 terminal server - not even the HP Universal PCL or PS drivers would work. Be warned if using on a domain network.

5 out of 5 eggsFast and cost effective.

Pros: Very easy to setup. The wireless setup was very easy and only occasionally has issues. Having the options of either wired or wireless setup was very appealing to me. Once I walk from my desktop to the printer about 15 feet away it usually starts printing. Very quick black and white prints which blows my previous HP Deskjet 4100 out of the water.

Cons: You don't realize until you unpack the large box that the majority of the box is made up of the printer. This was larger than my previous hp Deskjet 4100.

Other Thoughts: If this was a bit smaller it would be even better as it takes up a large amount of my desk.

4 out of 5 eggsTrouble with cardstock

Pros: Quite solidly built and nice and fast. The duplex option is great. I always like printers with individual color cartridges. Photo printing is pretty good (but not as good as my dearly departed EPSON Stylus Photo).

Cons: Doesn't feed cardstock well at all (jams repeatedly). This was a big disappoint me to me because printing on cardstock is very important to me. I'll be trying some lighter stock to see how it goes.

Other Thoughts: This printer is really big. I am having a hard time finding a home for it.

4 out of 5 eggsSo far so good

Pros: Does what it's told to do, which is print. Pretty fast output, and quality. Works great in Linux, as long as you have latest HPLIP driver set. Installed automatically without issue, and has printed without hickup ever since.

Cons: Did not buy from Newegg. Couldn't beat the 99.99 price from Staples.

Other Thoughts: Appears some have had problems with drivers in Windows. I have not tried this printer in Windows yet, so can't speak for that. As mentioned above, it works flawlessly in Linux with correct HPLIP driver set. I am a repeat Newegg customer, and have been for about 10 years now. Wanted to order one from Newegg, but at the time, no one could beat the 99.99 price tag that Staples had, and have yet to find that deal on this printer anywhere since. As far as the egg rating goes, nobody gets 5 eggs (or stars). That implies perfection in my book, and that does not exist. On the other hand, a 4 egg rating from me is my best rating, and it is indeed quite satisfactory so far.

Pros: REALLY easy to install drivers. No issues on OS X 10.8.3 and Win 7. A couple of minutes setting up the printer initially (via Mac USB) to use via WiFi, and then it was off to the races! OSX, Win, iPhone, iPad - they all printed quickly & flawlessly the first time. Photos looked good. Happy to be rid of the Canon inkjets. (2 have crapped out on me.)

Cons: Yeah, it's big, but since it's WiFi, just put it anywhere there's power.

Pros: After numerous experiences with HP printers I feel compelled to inform newegg buyers of my poor experience with most desktop HP printers

Cons: HP drivers are the worst in the business. Time after time after time I have seen USB connected HP printers show up in "unspecified devices" and not able to print.

***Google it yourself and see how many people experience this.

I have personally seen this at least 6 times in the past 3-4 years, all ending in a return of the printer.

Other Thoughts: Avoid the headache of HP printers. Once a solid brand, now garbage drivers ruin their printers.

Go with Canon, Epson, Ricoh, heck even a cheapo Lexmark installs drivers and works correctly.
