4 out of 5 eggsSolid Printer

Pros: 1200 DPI , wireless (didn't think it would be THAT helpful but it is!), solid HP printing performance

Cons: As with other HP printers, the fuser operates at a very high temp which causes certain types of paper to curl especially when printing many pages at once. That and it's picky on types of paper - certain (thin) types of paper tend to jam easily. Prints are limited to 6x5 being the smallest custom type of paper but you can print on small pieces with proper configuration. Somewhat flimsy and unresponsive screen, but nothing really earth shattering.

Other Thoughts: Replaced my Canon laser MFD with this printer and I am actually quite happy with it. The wireless functions is superb in a small office/home setting and the quality is sharp. I was concerned with being able to print on small paper sized (such as USPS mailing forms) but the printer works just fine with some proper software settings. As with other types of HP printers, the type of paper you use is critical to the print quality and long term reliability (I ran a help desk for number of years and paper quality was a HUGE concern with maintenance and reliability of HP printers). Cartridges are crucially important to the long term reliability and these cartridges aren't the cheapest around (-1 egg for the higher price of OEM cartridges). Other than that, it's a high quality printer with relatively small foot print and very solid laser printing capabilities.

1 out of 5 eggsWireless unreliable

Pros: printer prints

Cons: Wireless on printer was unreliable. Unable to connect with WPA2 had to downgrade to WPA. Even then printer would drop connectivity regularly and had to force reconnection to wireless. Other wireless clients had no such issue. Ended up having to revert to wired connection to use printer in reliable fashion.

Other Thoughts: HP support useless. No firmware update available to correct wireless issues. Support script forces tech support to focus on PC and not on issue with printer itself. Network printer that you can't ping is not problem a with the wireless PC client that has working network connectivity to internet and can print to other network printers.
