2 out of 5 eggsPrints good....scanning no so much

Pros: Print quality is good. Easy enough to setup.

Cons: VERY flaky scanner. Sometimes wont pull pages through, sometimes will stop 1/2 way through a page and say job complete. Says "device busy" A LOT when trying to scan (usually after its been sitting idle for a while). Runs out of memory (only shows 46mb available out of 196? can you say bloatware?)

Other Thoughts: based upon other reviews here i would have to say I'm not alone in scanning issues. This has to be a defect.that HP needs to take care of.

If you want some frustrated end users though, buy this printer.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome printer!

Pros: This printer is awesome. It scans over the network to custom folders, and printers beautifully. I bought the add-on paper tray and loaded it with envelopes. Now I can print stationary (color logo) envelopes and stationary letters and don't even have to get up to hand-load an envelope.

Cons: None detected. I have not used the fax machine, so no comment on that.

Other Thoughts: Previously owned a Brother laser MFC. It crapped out after a year and the envelope feeder never worked. Also, network connectivity was problematic on the scanner. This system, by contrast, if absolutely awesome.

1 out of 5 eggsAuto Feeder Problem

Pros: Prints

Cons: Feeder unit is terrible.
Been jaming since the first week of purchase.
Replacement part is always on back order.

Other Thoughts: This printer was purchased from our headquarter and sent to us. So far the good news is that it actually prints; however, we already have 3 printers that print better.
Major problem with this unit is the auto feeder.
This thing jams crazy since the first week of purchase.
When it does feed and scan/copy, the images usually doesn't feed straight.
I've been dealing with HP customer service and they replaced the feeder unit and still jams.
Went through a 30 min trouble shooting and still doesn't fix.
They said they will send a new part, which is on back order taking more than 4 days wasting my time.
HP won't replace this product for us because it was over a month of purchase.
The rep on the phone argues with me that it would make logical sense that if the replacement of the feeder unit will fix it; however, we already did it once and had no luck.
Stay away from this product. If you are lucky you mighy get a unit that actually works.
According to the rep, many people are happy with this MFP, but there is always a reason why I avoid purchasing anything from HP.
Waste of $600s. My $100 dell MFP does a way better job than this thing, though it is slightly slower when convering scanned image to PDF.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Small Office Unit

Pros: Prints, scans & faxes reliably. The first thing you do with this MFP is update the firmware. I believe people having problems with this unit will see this resolves alot of the issues they are experiencing. User friendly and it simply works. Great scan to network feature that consistently functions properly unlike our old Brother MFP. Easy setup

Cons: The unit will only scan at 600x600 from the control panel. If you want higher res scans you must use the software utility from your computer. The scanner doesn't pick up thin lines very well. Since we mostly just scan text it isn't a problem for us. If you scan line drawings or photos beware. This is the reason I give it 4 stars and not 5
