4 out of 5 eggsDecent device

Pros: Fast

Laser

MFP

Works in linux. This includes both printing and scanning, although scanning works differently that you'd expect. It will save scans to a network folder, and it knows enough to authenticate as a user to a samba share. The only thing that would make this interface better is if it could send it over a kerberized NFSv4 folder, but I'd probably be the only one asking for that. This means it's not sane (scanner access now easy)-compatible, which means all sorts of scanner apps won't work with it... but you can scan directly over your network, and it doesn't have to be a windows computer you send the scans to. Linux support is always a *must* for me, so I was happy to see that it has CUPS support, and sufficient support to work for scanning as well. For those looking for linux printing support, look for "hplip", which will supply the CUPS drivers. You don't need to enable the inkjet mess (hpijs), just the laser printer stuff.

The document scanner is always a "must have" for me.

Wifi support is nice (and required for my use-case). Simple interface over the touch-screen, which brings me to...

Touch-screen interface. It just makes life simpler. No more vast surface are filled with buttons for a specific purpose, now you get a context-sensitive area with dynamic buttons that only apply to the context you're currently working with.

Cons: No duplex capability. Every printer I've purchased in the last five years has had duplex support... this is a fairly major step back for me. But nothing in my price range offered it for a laser MFP. You'd think this would be standard by now... I'll either have to live with single-sided prints, do everything manually, or use my buggy Brother laser printer which tends to cut content off of the top and/or bottom in linux, but it at least has duplex support.

Other Thoughts: I was hoping for one of the newer LED printers, which should last a lot longer (very similar to laser but with 90% fewer moving parts), but they're still ridiculously expensive.

My old Canon inkjet MFP died on me, and I was tired of buying ink every 5 pages, so I decided to go with a laser printer. Thus far, I haven't regretted it.

4 out of 5 eggslimited paper options

Pros: wireless printing, color quality

Cons: Big size, cost of OEM toner, no manual paper feed

Other Thoughts: After initial setup, my pc would not recognize the printer but after I rebooted it, everything worked like a charm. The scanner works fine but lacks options like de-screening printed pages. The printer would not accept 4x6 photo paper but standard paper and envelopes work well although you have to remove the paper and replace it with envelopes because there is no manual feed. The cost of OEM replacement toner is very high at $85 per color. Replacing them all will cost more than a replacement printer.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Printer

Pros: Touch screen controls, effortless wireless setup, airprints, eprints, subtract 1 egg for loudness

Cons: little loud when printing, doesn't fit much paper in the tray, no auto duplex.

Other Thoughts: i like it so far, surprised me how heavy it was. 49 POUNDS. the tray doesn't hold much paper but reloading paper isn't really a hassle. no auto duplex printing, but i didn't buy this printer for duplex printing. on the up side, the toner cartridge can be bought for cheap. you can even find some for cheaper than inkjet inks.

5 out of 5 eggsBest printer ever!

Pros: AirPrint, network connectivity, fast printing, beautiful color prints, touchscreen controls. This thing is amazing.

Cons: Big and heavy--but it's a color laser printer, what do you expect.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for Home Office

Pros: I like the color. The printer software has many configuration options (many more than needed for most) that let you micro control most of the printer/scanner/fax functionality. Controls and web interface are clear and quick. Print quality is very good, especially using color laser very white paper. Worked perfectly right out of the box. Software installed with no problems. Wired network setup was no problem. I particularly like the network options of scanning to email, scanning to network share, cloud printing from cell and tablet, etc. and some of the included apps. For a home office application, this printer is perfect. I have gotten so tired of paying through the nose for ink cartridges.

Cons: The printer is a little big for home office, but ok. Paper feed options are limited to the internal paper tray. There is no manual feed which can be somewhat inconvenient.

Other Thoughts: I am very happy with my purchase of this printer. I have been loyal to HP for printers for years and this one (so far) has not let me down. HPs printer software has gotten very bloated over the years (which had started to cause problems), but it seems to have settled down to a manageable software suite.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks, Priced right

Pros: AirPrint (print from iDevices), Wireless, LAN port, Great Quality, Easy setup and configuration

Cons: Bulky, heavy, large footprint compared to smaller inkjets

Other Thoughts: I bought TWO of these printers. One a few months ago for my parents and another for myself. My parents use this printer heavily and it does exactly what they need it to. I went with this product because the price for the amount of features and qualities matches up better than the competition. Airprint is huge since I have a lot of mobile Apple devices as well. NewEgg's toner cost isn't the best but the cost to replace them versus an inkjet cartridge is a no brainer.

5 out of 5 eggsLove it!

Pros: Beautiful photos. Many features with easy to follow guided instructions. Touch screen access to multiple functions. Installed easily, quickly, without errors on Win7 PC.

Cons: Download the latest install CDs from HP site. The CDs with the printer are an older version, with many reported installation problems.
One set of OEM toner (3 colors + black) costs as much as the printer. Will need to explore third party toner. Toner rated at 1000-1500 copies.

1 out of 5 eggsSupporting Installation Software Epic Fail

Pros: Cannot identify any. Printer installation program will not install and as such I cannot use the printer.

Cons: Installation program errors out without any indication or information why. Spent numerous days trying to install drivers through the installation program to no avail. Even had HP technical support assist me with no success. Terrible experience and a total waste of time. Research reviews on this printer and you will see customers who tried (like me) to install the installation program without success. This printer goes back to the store today.

Other Thoughts: Think twice about purchasing this product.

4 out of 5 eggsSo Far, So Good

Pros: My wife and I bought this printer because we wanted a color laser printer for the home that could be used to print runs of 100 to 250 items periodically. We weren't interested in printing photos. But, the print quality had to be very good. My wife has dealt with professional printers at her job for decades and finds the print quality more than acceptable. So far this unit has met our needs. It spends most of it's time in sleep mode. But, when needed, it warms up faster than any laser printer that I have ever seen. It will even print legal size paper.

Cons: The biggest negative is a lack of automatic duplexing. The next thing is that there is no single sheet feed option. It also would have been nice to have a multi tray option, but that wasn't a high priority.

Other Thoughts: Compared to the ink jet that this replaced (an HP C-6280) the print speed is similar. But, this is about twice as tall and noticably noisier. The ink jet print quality was slightly better. But, the M276 economy settings produce much better results. Also, our server and computers are all hard wired, so I can't comment on the WiFi.We also don't use the Fax.
