1 out of 5 eggsBeautiful, wonderful printer - but 1st one didn't work, 2nd one failed in warranty but HP won't support

Pros: Jan 13 2015 Update: Printer arrived, with helpful advice on how to return the broken printer. Followed the instructions, so simple even I could complete them, and the printer is operating. It is currently running on one network via USB, another network via wireless, and a third via wired - although no one has successfully printed from the wireless yet, because it won't accept the password for the old wireless router. Have printed about 20 pages and print quality is acceptable. I wouldn't use it for color photos, but that's not what it's for.

Oct 6, 2015 Update - It comes with "starter" ink cartridges, and we were able to print several hundred pages with them. Putting real cartridges from HP was about $500. That was painful, but we didn't have to make that jump until recently. Starter cartridges lasted a long time for what we were using it for. Print quality is excellent. It doesn't handle high humidity as well as a laser printer (duh, it's an inkjet), but otherwise excellent. It does randomly go into a "deep sleep" mode, which the only way to wake it is to unplug and replug, but not as often as when I started (several firmware updates later).

Cons: Dead On Arrival.
Plugged in after removing a roomful of blue tape, and tons of cardboard and plastic pieces.
Went through the 22 minute startup process, and it finished with the message: Print Bar Jam.
Went through the usual quality HP technical support - "have you turned it off, then on again? did you remove the jam?"
-Note, there is NO jam, all tape was removed.
HP support said I should have an answer back in 1-2 business days.

Jan 9 2015 Update: After 8 days and hours trying to reach HP tech support, they have finally agreed to replace the printer. Of course, they wanted to charge me rush shipping, and charge for packaging materials, and charge for my time wasted, and they want me to box up the broken worthless unit so they can send it to someone else. HP Tech Support is making me long for the good old fun days at the DMV.

Dec 3, 2015 Update. Failed with Error Code 0x6100003, known hardware fault. HP Tech support says out of warranty despite being less than a year old. We'll be buying a different printer rather than trying to fix thru HP.
Dec 14, 2015 Update. HP Tech Support, after 5 phone calls and 2 chat sessions and my proving that the original printer was purchased less than 1 year ago, the 2nd printer arrived in January, so we're doubly in warranty, FINALLY acknowledged that they maybe should think about doing something. They opened a case, and said we should hear from them in 2 days. 5 days later, still no word from HP customer service.

Other Thoughts: HP Tech support and customer service is extremely frustrating to deal with, and they act as if this is a $50 throwaway printer. If it was, I would not be as frustrated or want to share my experience so much.

5 out of 5 eggsbest printer i've used

Pros: extremely fast. it prints faster than a page a second on real documents, not just pages with only a few items.

Cons: none yet.

Other Thoughts: we have been using this printer for around 6 months of heavy use and haven't had any issues. I have it hard-wired so i'm not sure about the wifi issues others are complaining about.

1 out of 5 eggsProblems waiting to happan

Pros: very fast printing, Easy to manage. HP outdid themselves again with a printer that would last one year, No more!

Cons: As always HP creating printer that will not last more than a year. As IT manager for a big company we ordered few of these to test and this printer is not there yet. A month down the road WiFi issues(unstable). keep jamming. envelopes getting stuck. On the overall pickup mechanism is bad !
I think this printer will be great for a company if they offered 11x17 as second spare printer due to the fact it is missing reliability. HP need to understand that clients willing to pay for a reliable product and not to the junk HP deliver at the last 5-8 years.

Other Thoughts: wait , They might provide a reliable product in few years. This one is not

2 out of 5 eggsless than 2 month

Pros: Looks nice, a lot of video on color screen

Cons: First of all wireless connected all the time to wrong wireless router. No matter how many times and how many different ways I tried to connect printer to correct wireless network it always connected to wrong one.
Finally we connected printer to network thru cable.
Second of all, after 1 and half month printer stopped working and show us paper jam. The only problem is there is no paper. Probably some sensor gone bad and there no way to reset it. Very bad.
